I chose this book out of a list I found of books for the #politicalintrigue prompt for #booked2019. I think this genre is tough for me which is why I didn‘t love it. It just was hard for me relate to and stay interested in. I felt like it took a long time for things to happen and wasn‘t as captivating as I had hoped it would be based on the reviews.

@LibrarianRyan I‘m excited to help you celebrate your birthday Litsy style- here are my earliest absolute favorite books. I have so many favorite Littens but two who are very kind, generous, and creative are @cobwebmoth and @mabell my self care swap sisters ❤️❤️❤️Also have great taste in books! Thanks for being part of Litsy @SajalReads @Brittanysteele89 @BlankInk_WhitePaper @GingerAntics @Booknerd222 #itsmyparty

Chrissyreadit @cobwebmoth @mabell I was supposed to do a better job asking you to share birthday post by tagging a favorite litten, your five most recent followers and sharing your favorite childhood books. 24h

mabell Thank you so much, Chrissy! 🥰 I loved Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden, too! I don‘t know if I read 5 Little Peppers, and I don‘t remember reading Little Women (I‘m sure I did.) My favorite Alcott that I read many times was 14h

Chrissyreadit @mabell I loved eight cousins! And Rose In Bloom! 14h
LibrarianRyan I agree @cobwebmoth and @mabell are awesome. However I have to disagree with Little Women. I am listening to it now as I try to wrap up #Booked2019 and it feels like torture. 12h
mabell @LibrarianRyan ❤️❤️❤️ 12h
mabell @Chrissyreadit I never got to Rose in Bloom - I just kept rereading Eight Cousins 🤣 12h
Chrissyreadit @LibrarianRyan funny! It‘s one of my daughters favorites too! But def not my sons taste. 11h

I enjoyed this. Running out of water is a really scary concept, but definitely something we should be thinking more about. Although this is set in southern California, it's just as applicable here in Australia.

I liked the characters and the story, although it definitely is targeted more towards YA.

This is my #clifi pick for #booked2019

Only one more book to go!

BarbaraTheBibliophage Good job!! ♥️📚👊🏻 1d
JanuarieTimewalker13 That‘s the one I wanted to use as my clifi, but I‘m terrible at challenges. I always end up getting sidetracked. It looks good! 1d
JennyM And particularly with the temps that are coming next week🥵 Scary stuff!!! 24h
Cinfhen Great review!!! I really didn‘t enjoy my #CliFi so im glad your pick was a good one 😃almost there🙌🏻 23h

Read by the delicious Richard Armitage, this is a horror-tinged psychological suspense novel that has some fantastically creepy moments.

Cinfhen Nice! I like a good impulse read too!! Glad it didn‘t disappoint 2d
ferskner @Cinfhen wellllllll impulse read isn't exactly right. I had to read it for work, so it wasn't on my TBR, so I didn't know where else to count it for the winter games. :) I would love for more of my reading to be impulse reads! 2d

Reading something, for the first time, that is so deeply a party of the canon is an interesting mix of discovering something both familiar and completely unexpected at the same time. This was so savage in a way you don‘t see much today. It was heartbreaking at times, but very moving. It really is one of those universal stories. #TBRRead #WinterGames #JingleBallers #booked2019 prompt 23 #publicdomain

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled I loved this book! I was surprised by how much I loved it. 2d

Such an original novel. A black woman timetravels between her 20th century life in California and the life of her ancestors, slaves in 19th century #Maryland. Butler succeeds in making the timetravel almost believable and writes a touching story about the inhuman circumstances in which black people lived in the American South.

Centique I love this book so much! 2d
Anna from Gustine I thought this book was pretty intense. It starts slowly and the violence just builds to a shocking level. One of the best and most effective books I've ever read that imparts the horror of slavery. 1d

I really, really liked this. It kept me hooked and wanting to find out what was going to happen. Aunt Lydia is a brilliantly written character and the three different points of view worked well. Leave any expectations at the door and enjoy it for what it is 😁 #politicalintrigue #booked2019

Cinfhen Great review and fabulous choice for political intrigue 3d

A stunning depiction of the horrors of war, I thought this was beautifully written. Can one really come back from something like that and live a normal life? It's so hard to imagine. I wasn't too keen on the romance but the rest will stay with me long after the last page.

Interlocking stories of “urban Indians” living in Oakland. I found each individual story to be fascinating and even though I couldn‘t keep track of all of them as they linked up, it felt like a complete novel leading up to a climactic event and the tension built toward it over the novel. Told a different type of Native American story than others I have heard about/read. Seen this reviewed as #genrebusting so it‘s my pick for #booked2019.
