Hey #OokBOokClub! My apologies for totally dropping the ball on the discussion. @julesG set up a discussion thread, so I‘m going to highjack her comments on that thread and tag everyone. If you‘ve read the book, please see her post to discuss the book and accept my apologies for slacking this month. 🤦🏻‍♀️

@TricksyTails @DGRachel - you may cut my fingers off for jumping in.

Dear #OokBOokClub Members, let's discuss Wyrd Sisters.

Don't forget to mark spoilers and please tag each other when replying.

DGRachel Not at all! I completely forgot about it because I‘m not reading the books. Would you like to take over hostessing duties? 🤞🏻 6y
julesG @DGRachel Sure! Though I still hope @TricksyTails is back soon. 6y
SconsinBookyBadger Does anyone know the reason why TricksyTails been mia from litsy? (edited) 6y

julesG @AnansiGirl I don't know why she's been off Litsy. I could only speculate. @DGRachel do you know why? 6y
julesG No discussion? Well? I'm just going to say 'Esme Weatherwax', you just have to love her. 6y
gossamerchild The witches are definitely some of my favorites. This one is so fun! 6y
CSeydel Sadly I‘ve fallen behind ... still reading Equal Rites 😬 6y
julesG @DGRachel - I'm still willing to take over host duties. Shall we make it official and make an announcement through Litsyhappenings? 6y
julesG @CSeydel How do you like Er? 6y
julesG @gossamerchild the first scene is my favourite. I remember reciting it under my breath while my classmates read out the scene from Macbeth. 😁 6y
CSeydel I mean, the City Watch is still my favorite sequence. But this is my first read of the witches and I‘m enjoying it. I‘m struggling to get momentum, but that‘s external factors, not the books fault. Crazy time of yrar 6y
CSeydel (Who am I kidding, every time of year is crazy these days. I think it‘s a bad habit of biting off more than I can chew...) 6y
julesG @CSeydel Don't we all bite off more than we should? Looking forward to your thoughts on ER. 6y
Moray_Reads I love seeing the development of Granny Weatherwax from the not-quite-formed with in Equal Rites to the wonderful, formidable force she is in the later. One of my favourite things about the Witches sequence are TP's thoughts on stories, how they work, how we build the world around them and how they shape the world in turn 6y
DGRachel @julesG I will create a post tonight, after work, and tag Litsy Happenings. Thank you for doing this. I‘ll also email you the tags. Copy/paste is definitely going to be your friend for that! 6y
julesG @DGRachel 👍😘 6y
Laura317 I listened to this on Audible. I didn‘t care too much for this one as I thought I would. Might be that I didn‘t care for the narrator‘s voices for the witches. Anyway, I‘ve actually forgotten a lot of the story! I did like the ending. 6y
Soubhiville I love the witch books, and I have enjoyed seeing Granny and friends evolve as well. 6y
khooliha Love this book, love Granny Weatherwax. The coven's relationship is more fraught than I remembered? And I definitely attributed Magrat's super impressive door magic to the wrong witch. Sorry Magrat! It's a really cool bit of magic I have never forgotten! 6y
hgrimes I liked what I read but I‘ve been in such a reading slump that I never actually finished it. 😕Got about 3/4 of the way through, got too bogged down by work and decided to call it quits. But Granny rocks my world and I liked the Shakespeareaness. I hope I can return to it and finish the last leg before I forget where I left off. 6y
Moray_Reads @Laura317 I highly recommend Nigel Planer's narration, they're amazing. Salt he didn't finish the series and I don't care for those done by Stephen Briggs ☹️ 6y
Verity @Moray_Reads I‘m completely the opposite - I love the Briggs ones, but don‘t really like the Planer ones. I guess maybe because I heard Briggs ones before Planer? The transfer of the Planers on audible is terrible (or it was when I last listened too). 6y
julesG @Moray_Reads @Verity @Laura317 - I've listened to the audiobooks narrated by Celia Imrie, she does a really good job. 6y
Moray_Reads @Verity the sound quality is definitely quite poor on the earlier books. I listened to Planer first so maybe that explains it. I do find that Briggs settles into a certain cadence after a while, so that I can predict the intonation of his sentences and that drives me mad 😂 6y
Gezemice I have been also MIA and did not re-read this, but I have read this one twice as this is my favorite Discworld book and Granny Weatherwax is my favorite Discworld character. My favorite scene is tgem going to the theater. I also love Nanny Ogg and her hedgehog song... @khooliha @Soubhiville @julesG @Moray_Reads (edited) 6y
julesG @Gezemice It's my favourite DW novel, too. For the same reasons. 😁 6y
Gezemice @julesG Yay! Great to find another Granny fan 😊 6y

Soubhiville Yaaaaaaayyyyyy! 6y
Aimeesue One of my faves! 6y
Craftylikefox Back on track! Looking forward to this one!! 6y
Laura317 I started the Audible version today. Excited to read my first witch one. 6y
Iblu I wanted to ask you Anglophones, as I cannot get the pun in the title this time. If there was a pun in the title, obviously...😬 6y
Moray_Reads @Iblu it's a reference to the three witches in Macbeth, "Wyrd" is the Anglo-Saxon origin of "weird" with an earlier meaning relating to destiny ? 6y
Moray_Reads Yes, witches at last ✊ 6y
Iblu @Moray_Reads thanks!!!! I knew there was something and this is rather profound. Guess I should be tackling some Shakespeare sooner or later- and fill that huge culture gap and fear of the almighty S ( not the easiest to read in original for non-English speakers, without proper guidance I‘d say. I think I‘ll have to get a translated version and get over my snobbery of only reading books in original...) 6y
Moray_Reads @Iblu it takes plenty of practice even for native speakers. Watching is always better than reading Shakespeare for me but there are some good annotated editions and I'm sure there must be great translations out there! 6y
Gezemice I took a hiatus from Litsy.... but it looks like I came back at a good time! Wyrd Sisters is my absolute favorite Discworld book. Granny Weatherwax rocks. I will just have to re-read it. 😁 6y
