#StepfordSummerParty FINAL QUESTION

5. Let‘s talk about the ending! Did you like that it‘s left to your own imagination? Do you think Bobbie had a physical hand in eliminating Joanna? Any other final thoughts/ comments? THANK YOU ALL for the funniest 4 days 😘😘

And to all who did not join, sorry we clogged your feed with endless 70s nostalgia 🕺☮️

mabell Thank so much for an awesome time @Cinfhen ! You were the perfect Stepford hostess, and I have had so much fun!!! 💃👯🕺😘 6y
Cinfhen I‘m so glad @mabell Thank you!! 6y
peaKnit I really enjoyed this quick and nostalgic read, I probably missed out if I wasn‘t lured in by the 70‘s recipes😂 I would not have chosen this book on my own...for no reason really...so thank you! 6y
See All 55 Comments
peaKnit I felt like Bobbie was definitely part of the plan in the end (once she turned to the dark side) at least to trick her into trusting long enough to be caught by the men. 6y
Pamwurtzler I did like the way it ended - that contributed to the creepy factor. In the alternate ending that exists in my head, Bobbi and Joanna get away and then someone infiltrates the club to find out what‘s going on. 6y
TheBookgeekFrau The 70s nostalgia was GOLDEN!!!! I really enjoyed it as a non-participant 😊😊 6y
Pamwurtzler Thanks @Cinfhen for hosting this! It was a fun few days! 6y
mabell I like the version that exists in your head @Pamwurtzler ! Get away! Expose the evil plot! 😂 6y
DebinHawaii Thank you for hosting! It was good nostalgic fun. Brilliant job! In one sense I really liked the slight ambiguity of the ending & how chilling it was. I think Royal reading the Men in Groups book & cleaning his pipe & that last line... and Ruthanne!s 'or I won't enjoy the weekend' ...😱 So powerful! But it drives me a bit nuts too. I want to know if Walter had any regrets or second thoughts, what the kids thought, etc... So many ??? 🤔😆so it ... 6y
Cinfhen I thought Levin was a genius at setting a mood without any words or gory details @peaknit @Pamwurtzler @mabell in so few pages he manages to convey so much. The book alludes that Bobbie holding the huge butcher knife may have been the one to silence Joanna. That was heartbreaking. I like @Pamwurtzler alternate ending too 6y
DebinHawaii ...was probably the right way to end the book. It would have been a different story with more explanations and reasoning behind it. And I do think Bobbie went to the dark side (as much as a robot can) but probably in a way of 'helping' the men and Joanna to achieve this 'perfect' life. 6y
Cinfhen I‘m glad you enjoyed as an “outsider” @C.Perone 💕💕💕 6y
Cinfhen I remember feeling terrible when Bobbie‘s boys tell Joanna how much they prefer the new Bobbie. The one who stays home, bakes cookies and doesn‘t yell😢😢😢 6y
Cinfhen I too would probably have never picked up this book @peaknit so I‘m glad to share this with you all @Pamwurtzler @DebinHawaii you guys made this party a blast 6y
Librarybelle This was so much fun, @Cinfhen ! Thank you! I was so hoping Joanna would escape; part of me thinks that Ruthanne may get away (crossing fingers on that one!). Yes, Bobbie did go to the dark side...the men coached the robot to take care of Joanna. I wanted to scream at Joanna not to trust Bobbie, not to go towards her. I do wish the Men‘s Association was exposed. Sigh... 6y
TrishB I enjoyed watching from the sidelines 👍🏻 6y
mabell @Cinfhen Bobbie's boy saying that just about broke my heart. Is Levin saying that no matter the age, boys/men only look for the necessities from women - feed me, keep a nice home? 6y
CoffeeAndABook I thought the ending was brilliant!! So heartbreaking that it was probably Bobbie who wielded the knife. I think it‘s highly symbolic to what is actually happening. The men leisurely standing by, letting the women do the dirty work of slaughtering each other. Isn‘t it so chillingly true? Isn‘t a huge part of the pressure women feel and the frenzie of „being it all“ mostly because we‘re so hard on each other, always in competition with each other?? 6y
Cinfhen Thanks @TrishB you‘ll have to join my 2019 summer party....book TBD 6y
Cinfhen I feel like RuthAnne is definitely the next victim @Librarybelle 😫and yes, so typical: men have their perfect robot kill her best friend (edited) 6y
CoffeeAndABook Wow, yes, @mabell , that might be exactly what he‘s saying ... and I agree, it was very sad coming from Bobbie‘s son. 6y
CoffeeAndABook And @Cinfhen I‘d also like to thank you - this was a fabulous buddyread, reading this book was such an enrichment, your party was the best!! ☀️👗🍸🌸 I loved being a part of it (except yesterday 😢I was completely booked), you were the perfect host, thoughtful and fun!! I‘d do some #daytimedrinking with you again in a heartbeat 😘🍷🍷 6y
bookandbedandtea Despite my usual desire for information, I liked that we aren't shown the transformation and are left to assume that the men had Bobbie do their dirty work. It increased the menace of an already disturbing story. Thanks for hosting this @Cinfhen I doubt I'd have read it otherwise and I truly enjoyed it. 6y
Bookzombie Thank you for hosting this @Cinfhen ! It was a blast to reread. I like the way that Levin left this to our imagination. I think the book would have had to be quite different if he had wrapped it up in some other way. I don‘t think I thought about Bobbie taking out Joanna when I read it the first time. It makes sense though. The women are programmed to be devoted to their husbands and do their bidding, I think. 6y
Bookzombie I‘m going to have to rewatch the movies. I was on Wikipedia and there were also three TV movies. Revenge of the Stepford Wives, The Stepford Children, and The Stepford Husbands. I feel like I remember seeing The Stepford Children when I was a kid. 6y
Cinfhen You girls were the best BuddyRead buddies🙌🏻 thanks so much @Bookzombie @bookandbedandtea and here‘s to plenty more #daydrinking experiences @CoffeeAndABook 🍷🍷🍷🍷 6y
mabell @Bookzombie @Librarybelle Yes, doing the husbands' bidding, or Bobbie thinking "I'm so much better. I want to help Joanna be her best too" 6y
TrishB Will look forward to it 👍🏻 6y
Cinfhen I was thinking about the children @Bookzombie especially the daughters.....what happens to them? (edited) 6y
Bookzombie @Cinfhen I know! Maybe they think they can train them since they are all young. They will follow their mom‘s patterns. Or maybe they plan to replace them when they are older? So disturbing. 6y
GripLitGrl Excellent points @CoffeeNBooks @mabell i do love have you were left to come to you own conclusions on what happened it made it that much better of a read. especially since some of it's still relevant today. Sorry i was late to questions. Thanks for hosting this super fun buddy read @Cinfhen i dont think i would've read the book if it weren't for you. Had a blast partying with all of you👗🍸#StepfordSummerParty 6y
Cinfhen 😘😘 @GripLitGrl you have a permanent invite to all my parties 6y
Mdargusch Oh my gosh! This has been so much fun @Cinfhen - thank you for hosting such a great party! As for Bobbie, I‘m assuming those dirty men could program her to do whatever they wanted! Of course they would rather have a robot kill her. 🤖🤖🤖 6y
Mdargusch Ps, I hope I‘m invited to your next party! 6y
Cinfhen After bailing on #LoneDove and #Dunces and struggling with #GWTW Im glad we found a book to bond over @Mdargusch 💜 6y
Cinfhen And the WHOLE DARGUSCH family is on my VIP list @Mdargusch 🤩 6y
Bookzombie I wonder about the friends from New York. Won‘t those friends wonder about the change in Joanna? Are they just going to cut off contact? Also, her parents were mentioned. Her mom even tells Joanna she could take a page out of the neighbor‘s book or something like that. What about the rest of the world? 6y
RealLifeReading I joined in pretty late but it was such fun all the same! Thank you so much @Cinfhen for this! The book has been on my TBR for a far too long time and this was the kick I needed to actually read it. I think I was scarred by the Nicole Kidman movie 😂😂 6y
Reviewsbylola It‘s funny, because I remember the movie being much more clear cut. Having that ending already in my head, I kind of filled in Levin‘s ambiguousness that way. 😂 6y
CarolynM I think the atmosphere of the book, the menace and creeping dread, came from not knowing what was really going on, knowing something was very wrong with these people but not how or why. The ambiguity of the ending was consistent. Also, I think it's that not knowing the details that makes your mind keep turning it over once you've finished reading. 6y
CarolynM @Cinfhen @mabell @CoffeeAndABook I think the view expressed by Bobbie's children is probably a fairly accurate representation of the way children see their mothers (and fathers and other care givers for that matter). Their immaturity means they relate everything to their own comfort and convenience. I think Levin included this bit very deliberately to highlight the immaturity of the desire for a "perfect" wife. 6y
CarolynM Thank you so much @cinfhen for throwing such a fun party. It's been a blast! I've only thrown in a couple of comments in the discussion because I didn't have a lot to add to the excellent points already made by the others. It's been lovely to read and party with such an interesting and insightful group. (edited) 6y
mabell @CarolynM What a terrific point! I love that! It's a very plausible explanation! 6y
SledgeReader This has been so much fun! I wish I hadn‘t been derailed today with summer Sunday realities! @Cinfhen is a fabulous hostess! I won‘t say “perfect” because that‘s the last thing I want to put on my friends after reading Stepford Wives. 🤪 it was heartbreaking to see Bobbie‘s role in the demise of Joanna. (I think she did it, Friends. It was a BIG knife.) And I think the process perpetually repeats itself. 6y
GripLitGrl @Cinfhen 😊 thanks so much I'll be at all the ones i can make it to! They are too fun to pass up💕💕 6y
erzascarletbookgasm I know the 2004 film was different from the book (saw the film years ago), so like @Pamwurtzler I was hoping for a different ending. 😆But I like how the book ended, Levin is brilliant. I think the ending is my favourite part- the horror of it, the living doll wives can be ‘programmed‘ or persuaded to do what the husbands command. 6y
erzascarletbookgasm In my interpretation, Bobbie killed Joanna, and those men (forgot their names) just stood to watch/wait and prepare to clean up the mess by getting the car ready! 6y
erzascarletbookgasm I had a fabulous time with this party! All the buddy readers are fun and interactive, provided much excellent points & views. Thanks so much Cindy, you‘ve been a terrific host, well organised, interesting discussion topics, with fun prelude before the discussion day. Make sure I‘m in your next party‘s guest list! 😘 6y
Cinfhen More insightful comments @CarolynM I‘m so glad your library had a copy!! And I‘m soooo happy you joined the party! I look forward to our next party @erzascarletbookgasm @RealLifeReading @SledgeReader and all my buddy readers...my party planning wheels are spinning🤗🤗🤗 6y
batsy @CarolynM Nicely put about Bobbie's son's comment and relating that to the immaturity of the men's thinking. How terrifying it is when grown men with power and physical strength think like children. 6y
batsy Thank you Cindy & everyone, I had a blast ? I didn't know what to expect with the book & it was riveting. I do think Bobbie might have been a "tool" in the elimination of Joanna :( To me, the ending was chilling & effective. Aside from the overt feminist issues he was dealing with, I also think that Levin captured a lot of the underlying anxieties of 70s-era American society; changing social norms, politics, environment. All in this slim book! 6y
mhillis I like ambiguous endings so it worked for me. Thanks for hosting such a great party!! 6y
asiriusreader @Cinfhen An awesome party! Thanks for being such a perfect host. I hope that I can join in the fun on the next one! I agree with all of you who said Bobbie likely wielded the knife against Joanna. Only makes sense, given that she was now a robot controlled by the men who needed a dirty job done. I wonder who did the ‘jobs‘ when the husbands would have their wives at home for a weekend? Did they always have a wife do it? And I also wonder about ... 6y
asiriusreader ...the Stepford daughters. What fates awaited them? Again, thanks @Cinfhen !! 6y

#BlameItOnLitsy 🤗 Look what I found in the charity shop❣️❣️❣️Both books have recently been mentioned so how could I pass up the opportunity?!? And like @miralunasbooknook says IN EXCHANGE FOR MY DONATION I WAS GIVEN BOOKS!!!

Cinfhen I‘m pretty sure you first put this book on my radar @SledgeReader ❤️ 6y

Cinfhen Yup!!! I‘m so glad you shared your wisdom with me 😜 @miralunasbooknook 6y
BookNerd9906 This has been on my #tbr for years. I have it, just haven‘t read it yet. 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen As a dear friend of mine always said - “I‘m so jealous! You get to read it for the first time!” I miss her so much. ❤️ maybe it‘s time I read 6y
TrishB Charitable donations are a cool source of books. I love my local charity shops. 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen @miralunasbooknook Every book deserves a good home! 6y
Godmotherx5 I hope the books don‘t disappoint. I‘m a huge fan of The Sparrow. 6y
Cinfhen I only know of two in my neighborhood here but they‘ve been pretty good @TrishB and for $2 or less you can‘t be too disappointed 6y
Cinfhen @BookNerd9906 maybe we can organize a buddy read !?!?? 6y
Cinfhen I didn‘t love #LoneDove but the others really did @SledgeReader 🤞🏼🤞🏼 for the Sparrow @Godmotherx5 I know it‘s popular on Litsy💕 6y
KathyWheeler I loved both of these books but am particularly fond of The Sparrow. 6y
HardcoverHearts Oh man- The Sparrow is such a different reading experience! I thought I understood what I would be reading, going into it, but was blown away. Now I grab copies of that book every time I see it in a used bookstore because it‘s rare. I am always on the hunt for a hardback first edition. I hope you like it! 6y
BookNerd9906 @Cinfhen I would love that!!!!! 6y
Cinfhen @HardcoverHearts I‘ll keep my eyes out for you...I paid fifty cents for my copy today 😉 6y
Cinfhen Cool @BookNerd9906 How does beginning of June sound??? 6y
HardcoverHearts @Cinfhen - that would be great! I should mention that I buy them and then give them away to people who I think are looking for a deep and different type of book. I find this and 84, Charing Cross Road are the ones I give away most. 😉 6y
Cinfhen Oooh; 84, Charing Cross is still on my TBR... @HardcoverHearts 😁 6y
HardcoverHearts @Cinfhen They are obviously very different genres, but both are so remarkable and unforgettable in a way that speaks to book lovers, imho. 6y
Flaneurette I‘ve had both of these on my tbr forever. Good find! 6y
Cinfhen Thanks @Flaneurette I‘m happy to share them with u after I read them...it just might be a few months 🙄 6y
Flaneurette Thank you @Cinfhen I do own them I just have to get around to actually reading them! 6y
Katerina I love the Housekeeper and the Professor. Have tissues handy. Such a simple and elegant way to evoke emotion without over the top drama. 6y
Cinfhen Ha!! So you should join in on our casual no pressure buddy read of Sparrow @Flaneurette @BookNerd9906 6y
Cinfhen I‘ve heard such good things about both books @Katerina @KathyWheeler 😄 6y
BookNerd9906 @Cinfhen @Flaneurette beginning of June buddy read for The Sparrow sounds great. I‘m in! 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen Oooh! Buddy read of The Sparrow sounds amazing! How do I get in on this? I‘m a newbie. 6y
Blaire Loved housekeeper and the professor - remember crying during it. 6y
Cinfhen I‘ll put up a post with dates but my buddy reads tend to be super low key @SledgeReader @BookNerd9906 @Flaneurette Any chance you want to take the lead @SledgeReader since you read it before??? Basically you would post a few questions each week to create a dialogue about the book! No pressure... 6y
Cinfhen I haven‘t looked to see if the book is broken into parts, that‘s usually the best way to space the buddy read @SledgeReader 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen I'd love to facilitate the buddy read! I imagine it drives itself after the questions are posted. I'll investigate others for a format and check in with you before going crazy. 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen The book doesn't have parts. Suggest we break it into blocks of 100 pages per week. Can we then pace ourselves based on how we are doing? There is room for a LOT of big discussion at the end which we may not come out in the break down. @Flaneurette @BookNerd9906 Start on June 1? It would be an awesome TGIF present. I'm about to kick to the curb my book group book. (I'd have to look up the title first. It's not blasphemy for The Sparrow) 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen @Flaneurette @BookNerd9906 Should point there is a sequel that most everyone wants to read afterwards. 6y
Cinfhen Yes @SledgeReader 💯 a hundred pages per week is perfect for a buddy read!!! And I‘m sure all the readers will want to continue on with the sequel....so excited to start June 1! Once you post your “reading schedule “ I‘ll repost too to help spread the word!!! Also if you tag @LitsyHappenings they will share it too!!! Thanks for jumping in and taking the reigns ❤️🙌🏻 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen @Flaneurette @BookNerd9906 I‘m very excited to work my first buddy read. I‘ve got the schedule together. Just need to struggle with my graphic a bit - it‘s the only way I‘ll learn. Hope to have it up by morning. Thanks @Cinfhen for your mentorship! 6y

SledgeReader @Cinfhen I‘ve got the buddy read posted. Please feel free to jump in with guidance. Do we actually start reading on June 1 or discuss on that day? 6y
Cinfhen We discuss at the end of each week! Graphics look awesome!! You can post each question individually under a spoiler. 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen Excited to start The Sparrow in the morning. Hope I can sleep! Please feel free to reign me in when I go out on a limb. 😉 6y
Cinfhen I guess we need to remove the word Litsy from the buddy read hashtag @SledgeReader 🤣😂and we can just use #TheSparrow or #Priestsinspace but that might be offensive 🙃🤷‍♀️ 6y
SledgeReader @Cinfhen Got it done over an hour ago. Went with #TheSparrow. Not creative enough to think of #Priestsinspace. 😉Plus I‘ve caused enough controversy for one night. 😢 6y

Jas16 I was honestly really disappointed by the Jane Austen museum as well. My favorite part was the gift shop. 6y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled Ha!! 🚽 well, at least there‘s that! 6y
Meredith3 @Jas16 yes the gift shop was really nice! All the books were so gorgeous, but based off my dislike of NA I decided against getting any more Jane Austen books. 6y
Arcana You should have read Pride & Prejudice first. I laughed so hard that I had tears running down my face! Northanger Abbey is not JA‘s best novel. (edited) 6y

BarbaraBB Haha! 6y

Mdargusch The museum was definitely not the greatest @Jas16 6y
Christine11 Is it the Bath museum ? I love Austen but thought that museum was terrible 🙁 6y
Meredith3 @BarbaraBB my family definitely made it fun 😹 6y
Meredith3 @Christine11 I don't have much experience reading Jane Austen, but I have to agree with you on the museum! 6y
britt_brooke 😆 I haven‘t read this, but I didn‘t much care for P&P. 6y
Cinfhen Don't tell your sisters...I'm not a fan of JA 🤐 6y

Meredith3 This is Emily reading this over Mere's shoulder ... You're in trouble @Cinfhen !!! ☝🏻 6y
Meredith3 @Cinfhen omg GWTW was a real marathon for me, and I gave up on lonesome Dove, so we shall see how #dunces goes 😳🙄 6y
Cinfhen Oh crap...forgot about #lonedove...I bailed on that one 😬and now @emilyhaldi is onto me 🤭 6y
readinginthedark I‘ve never been to the museum, but I love Jane Austen. Northanger Abbey is my least favorite of her novels; it has a completely different tone from the rest of her books. 6y
Meredith3 @readinginthedark 🤔 hmmm maybe I should give JA another chance?? 6y
readinginthedark Here‘s my advice (and I will never say this about any books other than classics, so please don‘t accuse me of heresy): watch the movies first. That‘s what I did. Preferably any versions that came out in the 90‘s, because those have been the most accurate so far. If you like one of those, read the book. You‘ll get the basic plot and romantic storyline you loved in the movie, plus all of the added witty social commentary. 6y
Meredith3 @readinginthedark that sounds like great advice! Thank you so much! I will definitely plan on doing that! 💕 6y
readinginthedark 👍🏻I hope it works! But I know a few people who don‘t really like JA. Don‘t feel bad either way! 😉 6y
Reviewsbylola I think that‘s great advice. @readinginthedark Sometimes it helps to know the plot through all that antiquated language. 6y

Pickpick

I stayed up tonight to finish the last few chapters of this amazing book, and it is definitely one of my favorites of the year. It has a wonderful mix of so many things, including humor, strong friendships, love, brutal honesty, and heart wrenching death, as well as a fantastic western setting. There are many characters, yet they are all unique and what truly make it such a great story. I highly recommend it!

#LoneDove

emilyhaldi Totally agree 🙌🏻 6y
Texreader I may have to read this one next. Time to get absorbed into a massive novel 6y

Cinfhen Great review 💖so glad you loved it!!! 6y
Daisey @Texreader Yes, I‘ve had it on my shelf for a while, and I‘m so glad I finally put the time into reading it. 6y
Daisey @bookloo I‘ve definitely seen it recommended by readers who are not western fans. However, if there is something you generally don‘t like about westerns, it depends on what that is. There is a great deal of struggle against nature and a lot of violence and death. Animals and Native Americans, really anything and anyone, are sometimes dealt with harshly, and women fall into very few categories. Hope that helps! (edited) 6y
Daisey @emilyhaldi @Cinfhen Thank you! Really enjoyed this readalong! 6y
Reviewsbylola This will definitely stick with me. ❤️❤️ 6y

If you‘ve read this book, then you already know. If you haven‘t, then you should! This was a ten week readalong that felt short. I never loathed picking it back up each week—in fact it was nice to get back to characters I had grown to love. And my copy sure looks like it made the 3,000+ mile trek with the cowhands. 😂 I look forward to getting back into this series in 2018. Are the other books as good? #lonedove

TheWordJar That looks like a well-loved book! 6y
Dolly I haven't read any others but I loved this book. I felt like I was on this trek with these people living beside them. Lonesome Dove was highly recommended by others so I picked it up trusting their judgement NOT because I wanted to read a western. It was the writing that drew me in. I'd be willing to try another of this author's books. ❤️ 6y
Reviewsbylola That‘s exactly why I read it @dolly. I have no interest in westerns and I read it solely based on the rave reviews on Litsy and everyone talking about how much they loved it. 6y

Tamra It‘s such a compelling movie & Book! 6y
LeahBergen I‘ve read them all and don‘t think any of them QUITE match the magic of this one ... but it is just so good to jump back into that world again, you know? 6y
BookMaven9 This has been one of my top 5 favorite reads in the world ❤️how can one not love these characters 6y
emilyhaldi 🙌🏻 also, what the hell did you do to that book?! 6y
Kaye The only other one I‘ve read was the last one. I agree that it wasn‘t as good as LD. It was good, but not quite to the level. I‘ve tried starting the other 2 a few times and couldn‘t get into them. Maybe I‘ll try them again someday. 6y
Cinfhen I‘m sorry I bailed early on, glad you all loved the book! How does it compare to GWTW?!? 6y
Reviewsbylola It‘s similar in the sense that it‘s an epic book but the time span is much shorter and it‘s not really a love story, more a story about a deep friendship. But I felt very strongly about the characters, much in the same way I do for GWTW. @Cinfhen 6y
Reviewsbylola I feel like I‘m not even interested in the last book because Gus is dead. 😭😭 @kaye 6y
Reviewsbylola I‘m rough with books. 😬 @emilyhaldi 6y
Reviewsbylola Definitely. I need my Gus fix so next year I plan to start with the first chronological book. @LeahBergen 6y
Kaye I agree. He was my favorite. Any book without him is missing a major chunk, like if you didn‘t have a leg anymore. You‘d notice it missing. At least the final book kinda wraps everything up in a way and you see how Call kinda rambles around without Gus. It‘s sad but it sorta wraps things up in a way. @reviewsbylola 6y
Kaye @Cinfhen if you are asking how LD compares to GWTW. I say LD is much better. I coulda done without all the sappy parts in GWTW and had more battle scenes. Just my opinion. I don‘t do sappy. Bring out the cannons and the campfires. Let‘s get ready for the next battle. Eat your hardtack. ⚔️ 6y
Cinfhen So how do you rank GWTW and #lonedove?!? Do you love one more?? Or just differently??? I'm VERY nervous for CoD😬😬😬 6y
Cinfhen I felt like I slogged my way through GWTW but I ended up loving the last 200 pages @Kaye but for some reason I was just not connecting with #lonedove at all from the start...and the endless amount of pages was giving me #bookanxiety #pagecountphobia 6y
Reviewsbylola I totally get it, although I think you would have ended up loving LD. @Cinfhen It was a slow start for me and I didn‘t connect until around chapter 8. It was the chapter where Gus talked about the sign he made. Did you make it that far? CoD has the most annoying character known to man but he is hilarious. It seems to be a very polarizing book. You either love it or hate it so we‘ll see. 6y
Reviewsbylola I‘ve always counted GWTW and CoD as my two favorite books but I definitely think LD ranks among them now. @Cinfhen 6y
Kaye @Cinfhen. Well, every book isn‘t to everyone‘s taste. It‘s ok if you don‘t like a book that lots of others loved. It just means maybe that book wasn‘t meant for you. Dont force yourself to read something that just isn‘t clicking. I thought GWTW was a good book with decent writing but I thought all the romance was too sissified. I think that ruined the rest of the story , where most others would think that‘s what made it so good. (edited) 6y
Cinfhen Thanks @Kaye & Steph... I know for me, I need to be grabbed right from the beginning to really want to continue on with a book... I don't think I got to that part in #lonedove... I'm willing to give CoD a try because I do think the excitement of reading along side friends adds to the enjoyment of a book you might not have read on your own!! We shall see... 6y
RadicalReader @Reviewsbylola the book is undoubtedly well loved and much appreciated 6y
Vblancsbooks I just got this at a used book store! 6y
Mdargusch I‘m nervous for you @Cinfhen and the CoD readalong. 😬 and I agree @BookLover - this is in my top 10 favorite books! 6y
Cinfhen Oh no @Mdargusch 🙄😱😬🤞🏼🤞🏼 6y
