#BookReport week 15
I completed 7 books this week, bringing my monthly total to 28 books! Definitely the MOST books I ever read in one month. Quite a few were very short and the inclusion of audiobooks really increased my numbers. I finished 2 books today, which I didn‘t include in my January stats🤓
I‘m hoping to focus my February reads on books hiding out on my Kindle plus adding audiobooks.

Megabooks Go Cindy!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Fantastic job!! 🥳🥳📚📚🎧🎧 Congratulations on your best month yet! 🥂 4y
Cinfhen Thank you my dearest friend @Megabooks xxxx 4y

dariazeoli Great job! Gotta love audiobooks- they really help the numbers. 4y
squirrelbrain Congratulations! I had my best month too, I think, but not as many as you! 4y
Cinfhen Thanks friends @squirrelbrain @dariazeoli @candc320 when I told my son he told me to take up jogging 🏃🏻‍♀️ Kids can be mean 😂😂He said “if you‘re gonna listen to books you might as well be running too” 4y
SamAnne Wow! I‘m impressed. 4y
Kalalalatja What a total! Well done 👏👏👏 4y
Kalalalatja And audiobooks are how I consume most of my reads these days! 🙏 4y
KarenUK Wow! 28! 😳! 🙌🙌💕 4y
KarenUK Ps. I only finished Children of Blood and Bone so I didn‘t have to start something else for #booked2019 #POCparanormal! Otherwise I would definitely have bailed! 🤦‍♀️Teen fantasy, is soooooo not my genre! 4y
Bookzombie Fantastic week and month! 👏🏻👏🏻🎉 4y
Centique 🙌🙌🙌 4y
TrishB Great stats 👍🏻 4y
Cinfhen The cold rainy weather had me snuggled up on the couch many many days this month @SamAnne @Kalalalatja @KarenUK @Bookzombie @Centique @TrishB #JoysOfBeingAHermitCrab 4y
TrishB My brain doesn‘t recognise cold, rainy weather in Israel !! 4y
Cinfhen I guess “cold” is subjective/ it gets around 13-16 Celsius which feels really cold but compared to my US winters it‘s not bad. Today it‘s back to 21C 4y

I‘m still not a graphic novel fan but the power and enormity of this particular work moved me to tears. I read this novel in school many, many, MANY moons ago and remember regarding it as I did any required reading - “It‘s fine but don‘t tell me what to read.” (Gosh, I was such an asshole.) Now I‘m curious to re-read the original as I like to think I‘m less of an asshole. 4⭐️ #pocparanormal #booked2019

ChasingOm May we all be less of assholes than we were in our teens. 😂 4y
MicheleinPhilly @ChasingOm It‘s my resolution for 2020. 😉 4y
Reviewsbylola That was my stance on required reading in high school too, although sometimes I just refused to read the book altogether. 😬 4y

TrishB Why I never did an Eng Lit degree as couldn‘t bear the thought of being told what to read for years!! 4y
marleed Oh my gosh, I moved 1250 miles away from home for college. Darn if an older cousin I‘d never met didn‘t live nearby my college. She invited me to her home for Thanksgiving. I didn‘t go - friends you know. Much later when I realized how rude I was, I reached out, but too late as she had no interest in including me again. It still embarrasses me to think about it. 4y
MicheleinPhilly @Reviewsbylola I was a big fan of Cliff Notes! 4y
MicheleinPhilly @TrishB That was my reasoning too. I didn‘t want it to feel like a chore. 4y
MicheleinPhilly @marleed Have you met since? 4y
marleed No, she moved away shortly after I graduated. By that time I was married. She had my address and we exchanged cards where she mentioned her annual trip back to KC to visit friends. I was not among who she visited - I had decided I received it was my annual reminder to treat family with more respect. Years later her cards included grandkid pics - one boy loved trains so I sent her my son‘s collection of Japanese train books. 4y

Third in his Rivers of London series. I liked it a little less than the first two. I don't know if it's because the plot was all over the place with no real villain or if the pace was off. It just felt like it was slightly off course for a Peter Grant novel.
Second time around I liked it more. Insights of the next books makes it better. Also, i enjoyed the architecture bits so much this time. #booked2019 #POCparanormal #fall

Cinfhen Nice choice!! I‘ve heard good things about this series 4y

Some have compared this to HP, but I don‘t think that gives justice to this unputdownable #OwnVoices YA book that veers away from the Euro-Centric elements common in the fantasy genre. Sunny is a great heroine, and I‘m diving right into the sequel!

Okorafor places the Akata series as #africanjujuism, a sub genre of fantasy. I definitely want to delve more into this sub genre!

Not bad, but not for me. The writing is beautiful, and the story is important, but the combination of the fantasy elements, and the vast number of different characters to keep straight, really made it difficult for me to follow this book. I also felt that the pacing was slow. Nonetheless, if you are a fan of this era historical fiction, and/or magical realism, this book is definitely for you. #booked2019 #POCParanormal

marleed I was on a 6 month library hold for this book yesterday but overnight they purchased 32 copies (the power of Oprah bookclub picks) so now it‘s available soon. I‘m not sure my head is in the right space for this right now so I suspended my hold for 90 days. 5y

Summer done - now I need ideas about POC/MC paranormal and public domain my remaining ones.

Cinfhen I “enjoyed” the movie but couldn‘t read through the book! Glad u enjoyed!!! For MC Paranormal I read 5y
Cinfhen And any book on @SerialReader app is #PublicDomain 5y
TrishB @Cinfhen it was a quick read so I didn‘t dwell on my annoyance! I‘ve read Kindred already and liked. Do you have to download serial reader to see what‘s on it? I‘ll search #publicdomain and have a look. Thanks 😘 5y

Cinfhen Serial app is free as are all the books but u have to download the app 5y
Cinfhen For public domain I choose 5y
TrishB @Cinfhen thanks - I may have a look at serial app. Aww Little Women, I could read again as it was so long ago I‘ve probably forgotten everything.... 5y
Cinfhen I loved it!! I had never read the whole book before. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage You can always search the #pocparanormal hashtag. And here‘s a list from GR. Not all are paranormal, but a lot are. https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/11395.Non_Caucasian_Protagonists_in_Science_... 5y
TrishB @BarbaraTheBibliophage thanks 👍🏻 I‘ve checked the hashtag and not been inspired as yet (or read) I‘ll have a look at the GR list - I‘m not desperate yet 😁 5y
Reggie I‘m shocked you read this!!! I‘m so glad you liked it, though. Yeah, the husband was such an a-Hole and I just felt so bad for the kids because subconsciously, they knew he was a prick. Also, its never too late to take a step in the right direction. 5y
TrishB @Reggie it was a gift and I try to always read gifts 😁 I think you need to do a positivity post for me every day to turn my thinking around!! I thought what a waste of your life and you thought it‘s never too late, I need more of that thinking! 5y
Reggie 3 years ago, I picked my Grandma up so she could stay with us for a week. The drive was 4 hours. When we left her house her new husband was so cute telling her bye and then he called an hour into the ride asking if she was ok. She talked him up so much saying he was the best husband she ever had. I said gah grandma what about grandpa? She told me that when they were younger, she would stay home and watch the kids at night and he would take off👇🏼 5y
Reggie take off to the bar. She said, “Do you know how embarrassing it is to have your comadres (woman friend) call you the next day asking you where you were last night because compadre was here, dancing with a woman. She told me that when they worked the farm for a rancher she caught him more than once with another woman in the barn. That my mother and her siblings have a half brother they don‘t know that exist in a town an hour away. That even 👇🏼 5y
Reggie though he was a good dad and a great grandfather, he wasn‘t the best husband. I never told my mother or anyone else that story. Lies, I told my brother. But we‘ve never told anyone in the family. I think about my grandmother and how she had an 8th grade education and what options there were for her out there. She had almost none. When he passed away she started living for herself. I see a little bit of her in Joan. Sorry for the long story. 5y
TrishB @Reggie thank you for sharing. My mum had similar in that my dad just treated her like part of the home furniture and I had to accept my Dad was a good dad but a lousy husband!! She remarried 10 years after he died and had 3 years of being treated like number one. You‘re right - it‘s never too late and I wish your Grandma many happy years of being treated like a princess ❤️❤️ 5y
Reggie ❤️❤️ 5y
Cathythoughts Oh I read this one too for #booktomovie 👍🏻 I thought it was great 5y
TrishB @Cathythoughts did you watch the film too? 5y
Cathythoughts I didn‘t see the movie ... sinse I joined Litsy I never watch telly anymore .. only if a match is on I want to see . Did you ? 5y
TrishB @Cathythoughts I‘ve never really watched telly (except the match like you!) so I haven‘t seen. Most films I have watched are generally when the kids have made me 😁 Charlotte made me watch Captain Marvel this week as she said it‘s the feminist film of the year! It was good fun and feminist 😁 5y
Cathythoughts That sounds like fun ! I‘d watch a movie with my daughters too when they are home or maybe a cartoon with my granddaughter... but otherwise I‘d rather be reading. I hope you feel better & have a lovely lunch with your friend X 5y
TrishB @Cathythoughts thank you 😘 5y
Reggie @TrishB I‘m just throwing this out there but I think you would love this book. Not cause you need therapy but cause there‘s a little correlation of what was said here. Just have tissues handy. 5y
TrishB @Reggie thanks Reggie- self help books are my worst nightmare so I have pretty much avoided this! But you never know, if an offer appears 😁❤️ 5y

Great book! I love a good villian retelling, especially when I'm both angry at the main character and still somehow rooting for her at the same time. Xifeng is infuriatingly flawed in this Evil Queen (Snow White) retelling set in a fantasy kingdom inspired by Asian culture.

#fairytaleretelling for #Booked2019 . It could also work for #POCparanormal if anyone is working on the autumn prompts. I'll probably use the second one for that.

StephanieMarie Also either a book you meant to read in 2018 or #debutnovel for #pop19 I haven't decided which. 5y
Cinfhen Lots of options 😍 5y
StephanieMarie @Cinfhen yeah for sure! It fits more for popsugar too those are just the two I'm deciding between. 5y

This is so great. I love this world that Okorafor has created. This book is captivating, the characters endearing. Again, because there's so much world building, there isn't much of a plot and it resolves very quickly, but it's still a great story.

This is my #PoCparanormal pick for #booked2019
