#MentalHealthMonday a day late !
1.every day is crazy day.I have much to do but the pain & cruelty coming down in this political scene is toxic.
2.music is always a great idea!
3. I was pretty edgy in my choices as a young adult, I find myself in this crazy time gravitating to the pop/rock of my childhood for comfort!😁I am diehard NPR usually, but can‘t take the ridiculous crap all day long.

Kerrbearlib I agree, the pain and cruelty is toxic. It can be so heartbreaking to read the news and so hard not to slip into despair. Love your book choice. What are some of your favorite groups from the 1970s? I've been listening to more music from that decade and really enjoying it! 2h

ChaoticMissAdventures We are going to be in the mid 60s here in Oregon on Friday which is about 5-10 degrees warmer than normal. I am looking forward to it even if it means doom. We call this First False Spring. 4h

I‘m happy we have a #ranttime tag now!

The NPS has existed for more than 150 years and includes sites in all parts of the country. From Guam to Maine, from Alaska to Puerto Rico, and everywhere in between. Many of the monuments you think of in Washington, such as the Lincoln Memorial, are NPS properties.

What‘s happening to our parks is shameful. The photo is from Yosemite. I hope it‘s not trashed by the time I get to visit someday.

Julsmarshall It is unbelievable. They are attacking everything, everywhere, all at once so that we feel powerless. And, honestly, I do. I‘m so worried that everything that makes America special will be gone but I keep calling my representatives, feels like the only power I have. 22h

Susanita @Julsmarshall I know how you feel. The relentlessness is definitely intentional. Calling is good. Listen to your podcasts of choice, such as Daily Beans, for other ideas. @TheBookHippie has shared some good resources too. 21h

ncsufoxes The nationalparkdiaries on IG has a list of all the positions that have been lost at all the parks. I need to renew our National Park pass. Even though they are going to be short staffed people need to show up & show their support. The ultimate plan is to show they are not being used so they can close them & then develop them. So support your parks, bring a trash bag & clean up after yourself & others. 6h

ncsufoxes My son is a junior studying wildlife biology & conservation. This is so upsetting & devastating to him. We‘ve taken him to NPs since he was little, which developed his love of the parks. He loves what he does but some days he‘s seeing his livelihood & future career options being decimated. He knows that his work will be highly important in the future but he‘s so frustrated & exhausted. It‘s been demoralizing for him & his professors. 6h

Susanita @ncsufoxes I‘m sorry for your son. It‘s not just current jobs but also future jobs that are being lost, but they don‘t care. My niece graduated from college in December, and a big chunk of opportunities has been ripped away. 4h

Today‘s section in our #TreeADay reading. My question to you is if you have read the tagged book, any factual history or historical fiction set during WWII how you cannot see the parallels from that time to this? What is keeping you from recognizing how our freedoms are being taken away piece by piece? It is happening again and you are not only cheering for it you are praising God for it. God help us all.

Ruthiella I‘m currently reading Maus by Art Spiegelman and also see the pattern. Particularly in the swiftness. Laws and institutions will only hold up if we collectively support them. 2d

Jess861 The Dutch Orphan was a very interesting book to read at this time. Some spoke up, others didn't as freedoms were slowly taken away. The parallels are scary.

dabbe To add to your thoughts, you made me think of this allusion from my Book of Allusions:
•Bread and Circuses: This phrase was used by a writer during the time of the Roman Empire. He deplored the fact that the Imperial government was able to keep the populace content merely by distributing free food and providing entertainment spectacles, such as the fights in the Coliseum between people or between people and animals. ⬇️ 2d

dabbe The writer declared that it was shameful that people could be so easily kept in line simply by receiving “bread and circuses“ from the government.

The term today refers to policies designed to PREVENT UNREST BY KEEPING PEOPLE HAPPY and thus DEFLECTING CONCERN about troubling issues.

How many dystopian novels show us that if you keep people quiet and happy (plugged in like F451), most will do NOTHING to save us all. #ranttime 2d
