3.4⭐️ don‘t give me wrong with, this book wasn‘t bad, it just wasn‘t the best when I read this month. Though Grownup is still the absolute worst for the year!

The good news is, in amongst the duds and the meh, there were some real treasures read in April.
The second InCryptid book was just as fun as the first. McGuire populates her urban fantasy with memorable, entertaining characters—take Istas who walks around asking “if there will be carnage,” for example—and sets them in a world where dragons, talking mice (who happen to really like cake), & other such creatures hide & thrive amongst humans…until the Covenant of St. George shows up to purge them. Humorous with a good dash of danger & mayhem.

It took me long enough to get into this one that I considered DNFing despite the spectacular title, but the beginning was, in fact, somewhat boring. But the story picks up once Brian realizes his new werewolf life coach is no good. At that point it got a lot more interesting and really turned around for me. Basically a college student turned werewolf working as a batista gets suckered into a self help pyramid scheme.
(2014) Seventh in the "Kate Daniels" urban fantasy series. This one brings together multiple threads and characters from the beginning of the series. I was a little impatient with the last one, but this one delivers the action, characters, and humor I like about the series.
Second book in the Crow Investigations series.

I like the series, but it's more "casual listening". It's interesting, yet doesn't require all of my attention.
First four or five books in the series are free with Audible subscription.

How do I rave about a book in this series without saying the same things I said a few days ago about the last one? How about I just highlight my favourite bits:
-Truly delicious show of power from Nightingale shutting up a mouthy lawyer/misbehaving practicioner, got all ominous in a classy way.
- Foxglove! 🥹 1/?
