⭐ ⭐ ⭐Three cheers to @zezeki for completing #ChunksterChallenge2022! It took TWO YEARS to get through it -- she started it for #ChunksterChallenge2021 but lost steam, so she tackled it again this year. And finished! AND she enjoyed it! I'm so proud of you. This is the very definition of persistence. Hooray! ⭐

AmyG Great job! 🙌🏻🎉 5d

Mehso-so

Well this was terrible. To think this is a kid‘s series, to end like this is just tragic. No spoilers but suffice it to say I didn‘t like it. Patrick Stewart, almost always a great narrator, was quite poor doing the animals‘ and Jill‘s voices. Fortunately it was short. #chunksterchallenge2022 33 hours finished! @Amiable

Lunakay I know what you mean, I was horrified, too🙈 5d
Amiable Oh, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it! I loved this series as a kid. I'm guessing I should let those memories live on and not reread it as an adult! 😬 I'm also disappointed to hear that Patrick Stewart didn't do it justice as a narrator. :( But congrats for finishing, though! 5d
Texreader @Amiable I loved the series. The last book was horrible 5d

melissajayne Wondering if we could swap some bookish gifts for Christmas? 4d
rwmg From what I remember of reading it as a child rather than re-reading as an adult, my reaction was (see spoiler below): 4d
rwmg The end of the world? kewwwwwl 4d
Texreader @melissajayne I ❤️ swaps! Were you thinking of one of the Litsy swaps or something informal between us? 4d
Texreader @Lunakay @rwmg I am glad I‘m not the only one! I finished and went yelling around the house to anyone who would listen (my daughter) about how awfully it ended! Especially when I enjoyed it so much and had been thinking on how well written it was. It had a subtle hint of platonic philosophy and sure enough Plato is referenced in the last book—and then kaboom! Sorry I had to vent, again. 4d
melissajayne @Texreader I was thinking of something informal between us. 4d
Texreader @melissajayne I‘m in! Email me at kamonsen at aol.com 4d
melissajayne @Texreader awesome! I will. 4d
Lunakay You are so not alone, I read them a couple of years ago for Christmas and these books have such a warm and kind tone and I thought what great seasonal reading, I wasn't prepared for this! 4d
Lunakay I think the end is inspired by the old testament, isn't the author famous for his biblical references throughout the series? 4d

I‘ve started these complete works in audio (33 hours worth) and just finished the first book, The Magician‘s Nephew. I‘d only seen a few of the movies, so it was a complete delight to learn how Narnia came about, and the witch, and the wardrobe! Kenneth Branaugh read the first book and may I say, he did all the different animal voices spectacularly!! I‘m loving it so much so far!! #chunksterchallenge2022 @Amiable

tpixie I re-read( listened ) to them 2 years ago in anticipation of reading 3w
tpixie This is another great companion book of hers 3w

I‘ve started rereading this (for the umpteenth time), but this time I‘ve decided to listen to it. I want to compare it while I‘m reading the Swedish edition*, which is double the length so I can pick up the differences in real time. The Swedish edition is a chunkster, so I‘m hoping this will be enough of a head start to finish for #scarathlon. #teamslaughter #chunksterchallenge2022 @Clwojick @Amiable

I finally finished my Q3 #chunksterchallenge2022 pick! ✔️
I love Stephen King; he writes characters so well (including Kojak aka Big Steve) and I love how minor characters pop back up in Book 3. This won‘t be my favorite by him, but I really did enjoy it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
@Amiable

Amiable Yay! Another one checked off the Chunkster list! 2mo

Bk8 of September & Bk2 of #SuperSeptember #readathon is done. Yes! All 1,012pgs of it🙌The 6th Strike books, it was a bit hard to follow at times with transcripts of 3 simultaneous chats from a game side by side, but once you get used to that it was a pretty good story. I did enjoy Troubled Blood more but this was well worth the read too if only for the relationship between Strike & Robin. #BookspinBingo #SeriesRead2022 #ChunksterChallenge2022

TheSpineView Just finished this book too. Totally agree with you. 2mo
MyNamesParadise I own the entire series and I haven‘t read any of them!! I want to it‘s just newer stuff keeps coming in at the library for me. I have a problem lol! 2mo
Andrew65 Fantastic time, especially with flu. 👏👏👏 Got my flu jab on Tuesday. 2mo

Lizpixie @TheSpineView it‘ll be interesting to see how that develops in the next one. Though it took 7 books for Hermione & Ron to get together didn‘t it?😋 2mo
Lizpixie @MyNamesParadise my daughter @Ciara_Rosey made me start reading the series so she‘d have someone to talk to about it! But it‘s been a pretty good series so far, I love Strike & Robin is also a great MC. Now there‘s Pat the office manager(everyone knows a Pat don‘t they?)& the others like Barclay & Midge. Great roundup of personalities. 2mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 thanks lovely! I read through my pain, helped keep my mind off it, though it didn‘t do my headache any favours🙄Haven‘t had my jab yet this year or my booster. Really should go up and get them. Especially now as above👆daughter has finally got Covid for the 1st time! 2mo
Andrew65 @Lizpixie sorry to hear about your daughter. Not booked my Autumn Covid jab yet or the pneumonia jab I‘ve been recommended to have given my immunosuppressing medication. 2mo
Lizpixie @Andrew65 I had the pneumonia jab 2yrs ago, I think I‘m due again next year(pretty sure it‘s every 3yrs)Definitely helped I think, even bad colds & flu didn‘t really last long or go to my lungs too much. Anything that helps when your immunity is compromised👍 2mo
TheSpineView @Lizpixie IK! The wait is killing me! I just hope that it doesn't take one of getting seriously injured, serious as in could die, before they will admit to each other how they feel. 2mo
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!!! 2mo
