I loved The Karate Kid as a kid (still do) and I‘m pretty obsessed with the Cobra Kai series on Netflix, so I loved every second of this memoir. Macchio‘s love for his Daniel LaRusso character shines through, as does his appreciation for the fans, and for the opportunity to expand The Karate Kid story to the next generation. I listened to the audio version, but I‘m glad I also bought the print copy because it‘s a keeper!

Sorrow and Bliss | Meg Mason

A wonderful title for a book that really is full of sorrow and moments of bliss. Martha, a woman nearing 40 has lived her entire life with an unnamed, undiagnosed mental illness that not only effects her life but everyone in her life..from her parents, sister, lovers, husband, aunt, uncle , cousins & acquaintances. I laughed out loud several times as Martha is sharp, witty, insightful, self aware & snarky. But there‘s a lot of pain too. 👇🏼

Cinfhen This book felt completely genuine and there were times I had to stop listening as I felt anxious and overwhelmed 😥 Another book from the #WomansPrizeForFiction22 - maybe not my favorite but I wouldn‘t mind if this won. @squirrelbrain @LeeRHarry 3y

Megabooks @Cinfhen I‘ve read all but one, and you know I‘m an ozeki believer! I can‘t remember the list closely enough to tell you a fave. Bread is the one I haven‘t read. (edited) 3y

squirrelbrain S&B is my fave, closely followed by Bread and The Sentence. I loved Great Circle when I read it, but it‘s quite forgettable. The Ozeki is my least favourite unfortunately. 3y

I just loved this refreshing, honest, heartwarming memoir by Rob Lowe. As a true #EightiesGirl I enjoyed looking back at some of the most iconic movies & actors from my younger days. Rob Lowe is such a genuine good guy, his charm really comes through. I‘m definitely going to listen to his follow up book. I highly recommend the audio version….If any of my #Pop22 Crew needs a book for #SetInThe80s this memoir would be perfect 🥰

This was cheeky, dishy & fun! For an #EightiesGirl and one who fell in love with her future husband slow dancing to Careless Whisper, this book was a stroll down memory lane. I remembering seeing Wham in concert (again with future hubby to be) in 1985 & being swept up in the band‘s youth and exuberance🎶💕LOVED hearing Andrew Ridgeley share his journey with George from boyhood classmates to teenage pop stars🎤

Cinfhen Hahaha, i had a similar experience with the song “I Want to Know What Love Is" by Foreigner. I was 14 and completely heartbroken...I did end up getting the guy, though. And I think I‘d call him my “first love” @BarbaraBB I still think about him, unfortunately he died tragically ~ he was struck by a car while riding in a bike marathon for charity ?He was only 36. His family actually established a book award in his memory. (edited) 4y

BarbaraBB Oh no, that story ends tragically, how sad. It must be weird for you too, that your first love is no longer around somewhere. I ended up getting the guy too by the way! We were together for three years (!) before I entered college and moved to another town. It was over within weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️. And I loved that Foreigner song too, but not as much as That Was Yesterday 😂 (edited) 4y
