I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

#NovemberNarrative #freedomday In 1947 Great Britain planned to cut ties w/ one of its treasured colonies the British Raj , India.Basically , they couldn‘t afford it anymore. Then began the debate of how it should be done. Partitions came down , assuming Muslims & Hindus should be divided , creating Pakistan in turn caused forced migration, protests , ethnic violence & death .A book that has been in my collection for years that I haven‘t read yet.

BarbaraBB I read this book after I had been in Pakistan and I loved it. I learned so much. 1y

Okay so my goal for #NutsInMay would be to read 1000 pages and if possible to strech it to 1500 but that might be an overkill for an amateur like me.

Currently reading the tagged book, hope to complete it by next week.
Thanks for hosting @Andrew65

The British of the 18th and 19th century were unquestionably the most barbaric rulers the world has witnessed. The atrocities they committed in the name of imperialism are heartbreaking.

So many avoidable famines were overlooked just because they didn't think those lives deserved to be protected

This was my book about a subject new to me for #booked2020, the partition of India . I was inspired to pick this up by a Doctor Who episode called Demons of the Punjab. I knew the partition happened, and I knew it was brutal and had lasting impacts on the region, but that was it. It was far worse than I imagined, and I think it contains some valuable lessons some countries could learn for today!

BarbaraTheBibliophage Interesting choice! 4y
