Bookwormjillk @mcctrish I don‘t mind it when the chapters are short, but sometimes I see 23 minutes in the chapter on my kindle and I want to cry right along with her. A lot of people love this book so hopefully something other than dying parents and crying happens soon. 4d

Clare-Dragonfly I can‘t believe it said she read a bit but won‘t tell us what that bit is!!! So unfair. And auntie… she‘s obnoxious but she‘s not wrong about people who look good not necessarily being good. 4d

dabbe Pops also has memories of a woman who is not Emily's mother. And he recognized the name of the person who owned the creepy house/castle/haunt/whatever-the-heck-you-want-to-call-it. Here comes the Gothic! I also vote to add the word “sublime“ to “verdant“ and “verdure“. And am I awful to say that if I see any more scenery, I am going to 🤢? Oh, and great to send Pops on an adventure when the guy can barely walk. #wtf? 6d

TheAromaofBooks @Bookwormjillk - While I agree, in fairness Dorothea went on and on and on about how what she wanted from marriage was to learn from/help someone “wiser“ than her. I think she's starting to realize that that isn't a great balance for a marital relationship... although sadly I don't think she's realized that Casaubon isn't really that wise 🙄 2y
