Sleepswithbooks This was a great read and perfect for those who want to experience Stephen King without “gore” (not me - haha). I kept picturing the characters from the movie as I read it though. I wonder if it would have been a different experience if I hadn‘t seen the movie first (which was awesome- cast was amazing!!). 4y
bthegood I agree @Sleepswithbooks good book for someone who wants to read King book without gore- great King book to showcase his writing and storytelling abilities in a non-horror genre - I saw movie and pictured people as well, although this is one movie that followed the book so closely - I thoroughly enjoyed this read - 4y
Karkar I have the original serial series books of this one. It was fun to go back and read them bits at a time Reminded me of the excitement reading it the first time. 4y

On a rainy day, nothing‘s better than starting a new book. I‘m reading The Green Mile in the chapbook format. Looking forward to watching the movie afterwards 🍿

Beatlefan129 It‘s one of the rare occasions where both the book and the movie version are excellent! 5y

Interestingly enough this novel, set in a Depression-era Southern prison‘s death row, was released in several serial installments.
The first installment, titled The Two Dead Girls was released in March of 1996, with one installment a month published through the final installment, Coffey on the Mile, which was released in August of the same year. Every single installment ended up on the New York Times best seller list. #stephenking #thegreenmile
