Bookwormjillk You know it‘s going to be a wild ride when you break out #whatcouldgowrong on the first day 🤣 7mo
Cuilin Oh my, methinks the parson shall regret his words. Yeah, not sure what to make of those brothers, hmm. 7mo

BarkingMadRead @Bookwormjillk right? 🤣🤣🤣 7mo
dabbe “Sir“ John seems to think that because he descended from a knight, that he's now noble. If I remember my feudal system history, only the nobles ABOVE the knights could pass on their wealth, holdings, etc., but knights couldn't. And like @BarkingMadRead has already led off with, this can't be good. 🤣 7mo
Ruthiella I agree that the parson should have just kept quiet. He couldn‘t have known, though, that Durbyfield would let it go to his head. 😟 7mo
Bklover I think that youngest boy is going to show up again and probably cause Tess some trouble. 7mo
Clare-Dragonfly I wonder whether we‘ll find out why John‘s great-grandfather kept his past quiet. 7mo
currentlyreadinginCO Hello! I read Tess 15 yrs ago in a high school lit class. I remember loving the novel due to the imagery and writing, but being mad for Tess throughout. After the first two chapters, that tracks so far! 7mo
julieclair @Bookwormjillk I was thinking the same thing! 😆 7mo
BarkingMadRead @julieclair uh oh I‘m getting a reputation 🤣🤣 @currentlyreadinginCO it will be interesting to see how you like it now! 7mo

Agnes Grey: Large Print | Anne Anne Bront

eeclayton I read this about 6 or 7 years ago, but I have zero memories of the plot, so it feels like reading it for the first time. 13mo
Ruthiella When she mentioned that she was babied by her family and not taught to sew, I thought she was maybe 9 or 10, not 19! 😂 13mo

willaful This has such a different feel from the other Bronte books. I hope it continues to be somewhat lighthearted. 13mo
BarkingMadRead @Ruthiella Omg me too!! 13mo
BarkingMadRead @willaful I hope so!! 13mo
Bookwormjillk My tags aren‘t working so I missed the first day. What is this? A character I sort of like? Not sure what to say. 13mo
Clare-Dragonfly @Ruthiella Right?! Her family is doing a real disservice by babying her! I am concerned for her independent future. 13mo
Clare-Dragonfly I liked how one of their ideas for making more money was to have the daughters paint and sell their art—just like Mrs. Graham does in The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. And I found the list of specific economies they took really interesting! 13mo
dabbe At least in Ch. 1, it's hard to separate Agnes from Ann. It does seem to be rather autobiographical so far, with the exception of having the mother still alive and a strong presence for Agnes. This is setting up the novel to be a classic bildungsroman, where we will witness Agnes's formative years and her spiritual education. 13mo
DebinHawaii Can you add me to the tag list? Starting a day late but I‘m going to try to keep up! 😉 13mo
BarkingMadRead @DebinHawaii I will add you! 13mo
DebinHawaii @BarkingMadRead Thank you! 🤗 13mo

Chapter 13: Lydia is married, everything is back to normal, and Wickham will never come back 🙄 #foreshadowing #hescomingback #hidePolly #whatatrainwreck #shortchaptersarekillingme #jaaaaaaames #pemberlittens #chapteraday

CoffeeNBooks Mr. Hill doesn't need all that money, he just wants some wine and parmesan for himself and Mrs. Hill. 😁 Poor Sarah, everyone will soon forget James was ever there. 😢 2y
julieclair @CoffeeNBooks Isn‘t it amazing how little Mr. Hill would need to feel “rich”? He‘s a good example of the concept of “having enough”. 2y
BarkingMadRead @julieclair @CoffeeNBooks I know! Sweet Mr Hill! 2y
CrowCAH Hopefully they never see Wickham again! 2y
