The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader: The Chronicles of Narnia | C. S. Lewis
Illustrations in this ebook appear in vibrant full color on a full color ebook device, and in rich black and white on all other devices. Narnia . . . where a dragon awakens . . . where stars walk the earth . . . where anything can happen. A king and some unexpected companions embark on a voyage that will take them beyond all known lands. As they sail farther and farther from charted waters, they discover that their quest is more than they imagined and that the world's end is only the beginning. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader is the fifth book in C.S. Lewiss The Chronicles of Narnia, a series that has become part of the canon of classic literature, drawing readers of all ages into a magical land with unforgettable characters for over fifty years. This is a novel that stands on its own, but if you would like to continue to the journey, read The Silver Chair, the sixth book in The Chronicles of Narnia.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader may be thinly plotted, but it's also one of the most joyfully adventurous books of the Chronicles of Narnia.

#TallShipCelebration #Voyage

The whole Narnia series was originally read to me by my mom & dad. They traded off with one another and swept me away to a far away land full of adventure and possibility. ❤️

I do feel a little ashamed that, whilst I read The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as a child, I never made it as far as The #Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Should I try now, do you think?

sudi I read till The Silver Chair but nothing after that. I didn't like that the author changed the main characters. 5mo
TheEllieMo @sudi you got further than I did! I really don‘t know why I didn‘t read any further. 5mo
sudi @TheEllieMo same, i think i just kind of forgot the books. I was pretty content watching the movies. Though i will try to read the series again. I don't like leaving thing incomplete. 5mo

Sunraven I read all them except The Last Battle over and over and over as a kid! The Last Battle depressed me, so I think I‘ve only read it maybe three times, and not recently. I did re-read Dawn Treader recentlyish and found it sort of a mixed bag, but on the up side, it‘s not that long. My favorite after The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is The Horse and His Boy, though. 💖 5mo

This is my favorite so far in this series. I loved the story and adventure. The plot was well paced and the character growth was done well. I have 2 more books to go. Hoping to finish the series this month.

This was great. I truly am enjoying these books more with every book. I loved seeing all of the different places as the group try to find Aslan‘s country. I did find it quite sad that the Pevensies are now finished in Narnia, but I‘m excited to see how the last two books will go.

This is one of my favourites of the Chronicles. Eustace truly makes the story. I also love how it‘s a quest and 💯 adventure. Therefore, it‘s different from the others. It‘s ‘lessons‘ are a little more in your face, and the religious side of things stands out a bit more. Whether you choose to focus on that or not, this book is just a great ride.

5⭐️ So far in my rereading/ rediscovery of the Narnia series, this one is by far my favorite so far. Narnia question: do you read the series by publication order or by the timeline ? I read publication because that is how Lewis intended it, but I love hearing how others read it !

LShelby I usually read by interior chronology. —Did C.S. Lewis say somewhere that he intended for people to read them in a particular order? I hadn‘t heard that. (We own parts of two different editions of the series, one numbered one way and one the other.) 1y
Emily92Bibliophile Poor choice of words on my part- I have no idea how he intended it to be read. I just read it from the earlier published books order because I grew up with it. 😊Either way is completely fine- I was just interested if others read it in the recently published chronological order or the other way ( which I read) for fun 👍🏻no right or wrong answer. Just a bookish question of interest as a Librarian @LShelby 1y
LShelby Even when I originally read things in the published order, I still switch to interior chronology for re-reads. A personal quirk. 🤷🏻‍♀️ —Dawn Treader is probably my favorite Narnia book too, btw. 🙂 1y
Emily92Bibliophile I love that idea! I would love to try the chronological order on my next ReRead This is my first ReRead- I was 8 when I first read the series and after the Voyage of the dawn treader, things were getting mixed up for me where they came on the story as I grew up ... hence my current ReRead. 😊 @LShelby (edited) 1y

I am in such a reading slump lately. Nothing I pick up grabs my attention. I am going back to Narnia to see if that helps. 🤷 All the books I pick up I have trouble feeling like picking them up again. Help!!! 😱 This is very unlike me to jump around from book to book.

Andrew65 Why not try a book that you loved and enjoyed in the past, perhaps that might reinvigorate you. 😊 Remember this too will pass.. 👍 (edited) 2y
CatLass007 I agree with @Andrew65 . I also might suggest you try a different medium, such as graphic novels or audiobooks. 2y
MinDea Thanks @Andrew65! That is a good idea! Maybe I will do that. 🤔🤔 I sense Harry Potter might be read in my near future 😆😊 2y

Andrew65 @CatLass007 Funnily enough after I posted I also thought about trying an audioboook from a favourite author or narrator. 2y
MinDea Maybe I will listen to YOU on audiobook. I have heard it is really good on audio. I read it last month and enjoyed it. Or maybe try to get the couple of books I am trying to read on audio! 2y
Aswenson Ditto! I‘ve started so many books with little luck. 2y
MinDea @Aswenson let me know if you find anything that helps! I am going to try an audiobook and/or pick up Harry Potter! 2y
Oblomov26 Yeah I have also been in a slump recently - hopefully it has passed now 2y
Texreader Maybe an audiobook would help? Listening while doing laundry or something. I recommend Eddie Redmayne‘s reading of 2y
MinDea @Texreader that sounds great. I will see if I can find it! Thank you!! 2y
Andrew65 The Hunger Games, The Help, 11.22.63, The Light Between Oceans, The Wire in the Blood, Assassin‘s Apprentice, Outlander, The Night Circus, Water for Elephants, The Pillars Of The Earth, The Guernsey Literacy and Potato Peel Society, The Game Of Thrones, The Forgotten Legion, The knife Of Never Letting Go are amongst my favourite audiobooks. @MinDea @Texreader @CatLass007 2y

I decided to spend yesterday's "Faculty Focus Session" writing down all the characters I could remember from the Chronicles of Narnia.

SO bummed I couldn't get all 7 of the Missing Telmarine Lords! I googled it later to find that Bern and Argoz eluded me.

Also, don't tell my brother I couldn't remember Bree's full name.

Anyone remember any characters I missed? #BookDoodles

DebbieGrillo Good to see you took the real notes in red. 2y
mcipher I‘m impressed that you remembered half that many - no way can I think if one you missed!! 👏👏 2y
Ruri_kaichou So I can't remember their names either, but the hermit Bree and the talking mare stays with... Sashta's brother.... Strawberry's owner who becomes King? You may have mentioned them but I just don't remember their names 😳😳😳 2y

TobeyTheScavengerMonk @Ruri_kaichou No joke, I spent like half the meeting trying to think of Shasta's brother and Strawberry's owner. Had to look them up after. It's Corin ('cause Shasta is really Cor) and King Frank the 1st! 2y
