This book on bringing plants 🌱 into your home shows many of the author‘s clients‘ homes. He goes into how to layer plants and how to create an interesting mix. The last 1/3 goes into caring for plants as well as some of his favorites. I wish I could have a Fiddle Leaf Fig, as they are striking and beautiful, but they need more light than my studio gets 😢. One day! Lots of beautiful full page photos.

This oversized picture book was very informative about Honey Bees 🐝. It talked about how cultures throughout history viewed the bees. For instance, the ancient Egyptians thought they came from Ra‘s tears. It goes into the evolution of bees, pollination, and bee keeping. Great book!

Wow! ❤️

This was a great blend of history of the library and true crime. The description of the Los Angeles Central Library fire was heartbreaking.😭

Susan Orlean‘s childhood memories of the library reflected my own experiences visiting the library with my mom so that was especially touching for me. As for the history, I was surprised to learn how political a position head librarian was. Highly recommend.

#TIY Well, another shameful fact about how Native Americans were treated. “Slavery was permitted under an 1850 California law that allowed white people to buy Native American children as “apprentices,” and to “bid” on Native American children who were declared “vagrant” and oblige them to work off the bid.” It wasn‘t repealed entirely until 1937! 😱

These recipes are inspired by Jane Austen‘s letters + novels. Many of the recipes are reworkings from cookbooks from that time. For each section, she includes excepts from Austen‘s letters/novels.

This is a lovely cookbook with a cloth cover, thick matte pages, + numerous color photos. There are informative two pages descriptions on things like mealtimes (General Tilney), servants, table arrangements. The best recipes are the deserts and breads.

CoffeeCatsBooks Also, when I was ordering this, it looked like the publisher is putting out a new blue hardcover edition, so I am not sure if that one will also have the cloth cover. 4y

It has beautiful textile print endpapers and red metallic edges. It is not a design book so much as a collection of vibrant photos. This book was created by the owners of Juniper Books, who put out gorgeous but expensive dust jacket sets. I love books on books, so this was an easy pick for me. While it‘s not my style to cover all my books with a theme dust jacket, I think for books that don‘t have a cohesive look, like Stephen King, it can be nice. While they have quite a few shots of libraries with their covers, quite a few do not. I also like their attitude 👇

I hadn‘t realized how much my understanding of the Salem Trails over the years had been colored by my many readings of “The Crucible.” This was a great informative read. This is a pick as long as you are fine with 3/4 of the book being recipes. I‘m really curious to try the pictured “The Ultimate Grilled Cheese” which has hazelnuts in it! The beginning of the book talks about the importance of getting outdoors and the last slim section is on design. She does include some helpful lists, like best plants to improve air quality. Note the print is small in this. #NFNob

LoveToReadLiveToRead Wow, that looks good! 4y
CoffeeCatsBooks @LovetoReadLiveToRead The recipe looks like it would be really good although the hazelnuts seem like an unlikely ingredient. 4y

Starting this one now while I have a little lunch. Hale & Hearty‘s Fall Apple Cheddar Soup with a slice of sourdough bread. Heaven!

This book is a series of letters to her two daughters, which they are not to read until they are 21. She talks about growing up in San Fran, moving to NYC, dating, Vietnam, parents, being a working mom, and more.

I picked this up because I think her stand-up is hilarious, even if a bit too explicit for me. The book was the same although she touched on some difficult topics like her miscarriage. Brutally honest. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
