I realized I never posted any #HyggeHugs the other day so since my #WinterSolstice self-care day was like a big hug, I thought I‘d post some.
The botanical garden I drive to was more green than flowers & the day hovered between rainy & not (if you look at the picture with #HyggeHugs you can see grey on one side of the tree & blue sky on the other) but it was restful, green & beautiful & I alternated driving & ⬇️
so-soGreat recipes and some nice sentiments about nature but I‘m curious if it‘s just me or if there was a lot of white/class privilege keeping it kind of surreal up in here. Picture of my very Scandinavian-looking son out hiking for balance.
Very Hygge in the house tonight. Even the 8 year old said, "This is so much fun." The teen wanted to go downtown, but just way too cold for us and her argument was, "It's my birthday." She will be 17 at midnight. Guess who won.

1. Very occasionally I might go get a pedicure, lots of times I might go get Starbucks, and I have even got my book, lunch, and Starbucks and drove out to a park in the country to be in the quiet and read.

pickThis is a pick as long as you are fine with 3/4 of the book being recipes. I‘m really curious to try the pictured “The Ultimate Grilled Cheese” which has hazelnuts in it! The beginning of the book talks about the importance of getting outdoors and the last slim section is on design. She does include some helpful lists, like best plants to improve air quality. Note the print is small in this. #NFNob
Starting this one now while I have a little lunch. Hale & Hearty‘s Fall Apple Cheddar Soup with a slice of sourdough bread. Heaven!

pickI've been reading a LOT of Hygge books in preparation for winter and my husband's coinciding deployment. I have suffered from SAD for as long as I can remember so I'm really trying to focus on the best, natural ways to help myself through winter. I really liked the emphasis on getting outdoors in this book. And the added elements of design in your home. Of course, the emphasis on community was not lost on me. Much to implement from this cozy book!

pickI was a bit let down by this book mainly because a large portion of it was full page recipes that I will not do (too complicated) and it was not described as a cookbook. However, I am so intrigued by the concept of hygge and the lifestyle I am continuing to enjoy reading about it. I still need more, though.
Just the process of reading this book makes me happy.
I cannot wait to learn even more about this!

Long weekend. Going to eat some Thanksgiving turkey and put into practice some of the ideas in my "How to Hygge" book. Just reading this book relaxes me. And since I live in Canada, I can relate to the idea of Nordic living. ☕️

I love the personal touches, like the fact that the blanket is my fave color & the mug has a Louisa May Alcott quote. There was even a toy for my cat! Thank you, Kelly!
So a morning at the doctor's office. Get back home and start to work only to learn that our office server is down. Drive an hour to spend SIX hours working on the server with our IT guy. I was so glad to get home to this amazing package. I love the pillow. It'll go perfectly in my library. And look at that pencil holder! Beth you are too talented. So impressed. Since I was nearby, I stopped at a little grab-and-go shop featuring different musubi (filling between or on top of rice with nori wrapped around it & got a few savory things for dinner. My real purpose in stopping by though was to grab a few of their frozen creme brûlée‘s which are a little bit of heaven. I ate one in the car & put the rest in a cooler to bring home for the freezer. ⬇️ 4mo
