This book was definitely a pick for me. It‘s a light read but still deep enough to hold interest, there are also twists that I wasn‘t expecting. I like how this weaves a lot of different fairy tales into the one book. I‘m looking forward to continuing this series next time I get to the library!

A beautiful story, perfect for fairy tale lovers.

I found it similar to Narnia in that it is somewhat slow paced but beautiful all the way through. I'm surprised that it isn't better known and more widely read. The woodcutter family are all likeable characters and I love how all the stories I grew up with were weaved into one. One complaint: I didn't feel the "bad guys" were developed enough.

My favourite book (Thursday's Children by Rumer Godden) also has this poem at the beginning. Hoping that's a good sign!
