After finally reading this one, I have an even better understanding of why it‘s so polarizing. Quote sums it up. Listening to someone narrate her surrender and then maneuver a few final events to steel herself for her final act is chilling. The use of Clay as the boy listening to the tapes is incredibly effective at placing the reader in each moment. Going to have to come down on the side of better to read this book and talk about it, though.
