I have five books in this series and tried book one this winter. Could not do it-30% in and I was done. Still have them at home waiting on me to take to the second hand shop.
Different books for different folks.

I'm bored with this book and I'm not picking this up to read. I got about halfway through but I have other items I want to read so I'm marking this as DNF and moving on to the next book.
I had this series down on my #Series2024 list as I had the books at home. Now I can send them to the second hand shop for credit.

Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what‘s normal when you‘re a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries?
I‘m sharing this checklist I found on Google when I was looking up the reading order for the Shadowhunters Chronicles series and I‘m so confused. As a new reader, I could read the series by Publication Order or Preference as recommended by Cassandra Clare. I‘ve had this series on my Goodreads TBR for years and it has gotten a lot of hype. I want to read it but I‘m not ready to commit to a long series yet.

As always, the first book is endearing and hooks you to the series that gets worse with each book... π did anyone else enjoy the Shadowhunters TV show while it lasted? Book 5 of 2023 done!
October 20 #OminousOctober Bones @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks #Scarathlon2022 @StayCurious #TeamMonsterMash Read this and love the series
God, I just love the #Shadowhunters books. Clary is so brave from the jump, and the worldbuilding is incredible, if a little exposition-heavy for a first time reader. It's so weird going all the way back before the TMI squad became Our Heroes, too! #yafantasy
October 12 OminousOctober Skeleton @Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks With this book I was hooked on the series. @StayCurious #Scarathlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash
Once again this has a hook that is interesting and keeps the read flowing. All characters are smart and blend well with each other and the story. ππ
My guy absolutely spoiled me for my bday with this LitJoy box set π made turning 35 a bit easier π
Since I have the whole series now I‘m starting with the first book for a read through ππ€
Clary Fray is just an average, normal girl, or so she always believed, until one night she witnesses a murder no one else can see. She soon discovers βall the stories are trueβ- werewolves, vampires, faeries, and demons exist. And what‘s more, she‘s descended from a line of Shadowhunters, half-angel warriors sworn to protect humanity from evil forces.
Diving back into the #Shadowhunter world! According to my Goodreads, I read this series 8 years ago! I‘m hoping to finish it this time around. If you‘ve read Cassie Clare before, which order did you read the series? I‘m debating on which way I want to go this time! π
I join in #ShadowhunterSunday Challenge on Instagram. Today's prompt is #shadowhunterstack.
Didn't set out to have 3 Copies of COB. When I ordered #LitjoyCrate gave away hodgepodge of Shadowhunter books. Kept 10th Anniversary because it's so pretty. Paperback is part of Boxed Set. Love the covers. It's my Travel Set.

We stood in a 4+ hr line to meet Cassandra Clare & have the book signed! She was super sweet! She signed: Cassie Clare, SO CUTE!! She wrote both our names because we only had one book at the time. LOL π We almost didn't make it. They closed the line in front of us, we were about to cry, but we didn't leave. After a lot of people left, she said: Let them in, & she signed our book. She won my β€ PERSISTENCE people!
A re-read for me, but I struggled with it. I was reading this books the beginning of the month π³The first part was quite boring for me, with Jace so arrogant. But in the last 200 pages (my edition is large print) I saw more action, intrigue, magic. Imagine, I own almost the whole series, I‘m glad I liked it at the endβΊοΈ3.4/3.5βοΈ
I read 249 pages during #JoyousJanuary #Readathon @Andrew65 but it will be completed this month.
Time for a re-read! It‘s been about 12 years since I read this one.
WOW this book was so good! Those twists at the end were so unexpected and it takes skill to have all of those and not make it sound like a soap opera. I especially enjoyed the vampire motorcycles. I thought it was a funny concept. I have to say though, the author got a Star Wars reference wrong. even so, 5π
A classic supernatural/fantasy type story with the consistent tag line that "all the stories are true" which made for an interesting reading experience. There were 2 major twists in the story that had my jaw on the floor. I finished this one and IMMEDIATELY started on the next in the series

So many good books with a supernatural theme. This is one of my favorite series. Still need to finish the series.
I'll go with a current fave character...Simon from The Mortal Instruments series.
I def think he'd be found leading the ghost stories around the campfire. π₯ π»

4.3βοΈ really enjoyed this story... looking forward to continuing the series and having multiple discussions with friends
Honestly I should‘ve been done with this book to already, but been too busy comparing and contrasting with a movie and the TV show. So far the movie seems to match better, and the TV show seem to have took in a lot of liberties. Of course, as of right now, the book is so much better.
My quarterly wrap-up!
Lots of 4 stars, couple 5's , and some duds!

I was interested in reading some Cassie Clare so researched where to start - soooo many books! This is book one and I enjoyed it. Super fast paced, I understood the world building. Unpredictable twists. Gonna be keeping going βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ
4β¨ This is a re-read for me so I can read the rest of the series. I forgot everything and was surprised again at outcomes that arise. I love the world that was built and am looking forward to actually finish this series this time.
Great book. Read it ages ago but forgot to do a review. Recommend the series
A very great start to a "new to me" series! I don't know why I waited so long to read it!!!
5/5β
I went into this not expecting much. To get through book one so I could read the series. I expected a typical mid 2000s trope filled YA fantasy that held promises that the book couldn't keep up with.
I can honestly say I was pleasantly wrong.
The characters are well developed and the banter is enjoyable. The story is incredibly multi leveled and well thought out. This deserves it's hype and I hope it stays that way throughout the series.
There is also a bit of romance in this and what I loved most is that clary never hesitated to stand up to that person and call them out. Most of the time when there‘s romances, the female characters is shrunk a little bit. But clary never lost her fiestyness and herself. I liked that.
Overall I loved this book and the characters. I can‘t wait to continue on my reread and finish the rest of this series.
