Tea and cake and book in dingle after driving a fair bit. Beautiful roads in Ireland not a lot of reading ;)
Tea and cake and book in dingle after driving a fair bit. Beautiful roads in Ireland not a lot of reading ;)
Started slow, picked up speed, and then I couldn't put it down. The setting is the quaint village of Finfarran, filled with quirky characters. A story of going home, of starting over, of villagers coming together to support one another, and for the common good. Feel good vibes and heartwarming fellowship.
This was fairly cookie cutter divorce, sandwich generation, woman whose not where she wants to be in life, community coming together to save a cultural institution chick lit. The saving grace was the library (which was but wasn‘t a huge focus) and Irish settings.
Listened on Libro.fm and found it completely charming. Need to read more of this series.
#12Booksof2021 #March @Andrew65
I wanted to like this one more but it was just okay. I didn‘t care much about the MC or any of the other characters. The story was a bit slow too. The one thing I did like about it was the conveying of how essential a library can be to a community!

#booked2021 - title includes library or librarian
I don't usually like general fiction, but I've been surprised before. Not this time. I picked this up because it sounded like a healing story about a woman recovering from a major life change and running a mobile library. I couldn't get into the story or characters. I also just didn't understand why after a decade or two, the woman felt entitled to ask her ex for money and wasn't set up at all. POV shifts felt weird throughout too.
Thanks, @Ast_Arslan for the tag! #WonderousWednesday
1. This is tough because I often ship characters 🤔 Seyonne & Aleksander (Transformation), Calcifer & Sophie (Howl's Moving Castle), and Aster & Charlie (Hidden Witch)
2. Many! Sometimes I'll take long breaks from one, or havr several mood books.
3. A small town in Ireland I think? (I'm not really into the book so some details are lost!)
Who else wants to play?
Listened on Libro.fm and found it completely charming. While some reviews complain about the main character being a Librarian that didn't like Book Clubs or people hanging about the Library and while I don't agree with that, I can see that she had her reasons why and in the end her character grew and opened up.
Also it was wonderful at showing how a Library can bring people together.
I really wanted to love this one, but it didn‘t quite get there for me. Still, not bad.
The main character is the WORST public librarian! The story, once you get past the MC, is good, and shows how a library can be essential to a community (in spite of the librarian) and the way the politics of the county are described is fantastic. Lame characters and dragging story make this not worth reading the sequel. 2.5/5 stars. Don‘t read this if you are a #librarian and love the profession.
Day 9 - I am posting one book per day from my ever growing to-be-read stack. No description nor explanation on why I wish to read it 😉 Join the fun if you want. #bookstoread #tbrpile
After her marriage ends Hanna and her teenage daughter move back to Ireland to live with her mother, where she takes a job as a librarian and avoids all the people she thinks are talking about her. Until she finds out the library is going to be closed and sets out to save it with the help of an elderly nun, a cantankerous builder and the rest of the town.

Librarian, who also operates a mobile library, seeks to rebuild her life after years of living with her mother following the breakdown of her marriage.

On sale today. Should work for #readingeurope2020 #Ireland
I stuggled to make it half way, wanting to love it. Books, librarian, character named Maggie all of it- but either it's not the right timing or life in general has me too distracted so I'm calling DNF.
“... written words, moving through time and space, could change a person‘s life ... written words had conveyed dreams, visions, and aspirations across oceans and mountains ...”
When I began this book, I thought I was going to put it down. It seemed disjointed somehow. But I continued and I'm glad I did. I enjoyed the story. The story became more fluid as I read. Hanna is a 51 year old librarian living with her mother, she is kind of crotchety till she begins to help the town. 4 ⭐
For #Booked2019 winter season: #Irish author accomplished! The MC frustrated me at times, but I loved the secondary characters and will probably continue with this series.
I read enough mysteries that I‘m not worried about catching up with the female detective task in another season. Meanwhile, I heard there‘s a google form I probably didn‘t fill out?
1. Maybe some pasta?
2. Probably the tagged book
3. I hope to read 6 or 7

Overall this one didn‘t work for me, but I loved the parts when Hanna was driving the bookmobile.
Though I was frustrated with the main character at times, overall I found this book charming. Hanna‘s life is shattered when she catches her husband with another woman. She returns home to the town where she grew up and moves in with her mom. Just when she decides to take out a loan to remodel a small home, she finds out that she may soon lose her job at the tiny community library. I love the way the library becomes the heart of the community.

Waiting for PT appt so I am reading this non demanding book set on Ireland‘s West Coast. My fantasy is one day to visit the whole Island & look up Daly & Molloy relatives, some on Dingle Peninsula.
I really struggled through this one... and by the end I was more skimming than reading... This has plenty of things I usually enjoy- characters who are book lovers, an Irish setting... but I couldn‘t connect with any of the characters and I just didn‘t care what was going to happen in this snail-paced book....#NotForMe (but the accompanying #AvocadoToast was delicious!!)
“She told herself that a letter was nothing but words on paper. But a librarian should know better than anyone how written words, moving through time and space, could change a person‘s life.”
Any book titled Library at the Edge of the World, which begins with this paragraph is worth a read! I liked this book. It was a book of redemption, where we follow Hanna on a journey to find herself. Set in Southern Ireland, it help up the Irish charm.
I really tried on this one and just couldn‘t force myself to finish. Abandoned it after 100+ pages of unpleasant people doing essentially nothing. There is a good story hidden in this book but this version is not it. I couldn‘t make myself care at all.
This book is just what I needed this week. The story features nearly all of my favorite elements- a small costal town, a protagonist dissatisfied with her life, family secrets, quirky characters, and a community working together for the common good.
I priced a gazillion books at work again yesterday, and (naturally) added a lot to my #TBR.
This one looks so fun! A bit like The Bookshop on the Corner, but set in Ireland instead.
#behindthescenesatbookmans
Though it took a little while to really get into the heart of the story, saving a small town library from closure, it was a great story and easy read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Loved this book...no mystery here (other than wondering whether the council‘s proposal will pass) but exactly what I needed to finish on a beautiful vacation day! Happy Father‘s Day to all the dads!!
This is between a "Pick" and a "So-so" (I really wish there was something in between). I enjoyed the story and the characters.
#audiogardening this one. A lot will get done so I can finish it 😁
#ReadingResolutions #RainbowStack 🌈📚
I went for all same-sized paperbacks and tried to pick ones I don't always trot out for rainbow stack prompts. I think I can fairly close to ROY G. BIV although my indigo and violet are probably more navy and purple. 😉 I have read the top book & the bottom two, the four in the center are still #TBR.
Library haul from yesterday :) @MommyOfTwo and I had a nice walk there with our 5 kids lol!
Always love books with a fresh start because who doesn‘t need one? It‘s always encouraging to me to read about women who find out they are independent and strong when maybe they thought they weren‘t or didn‘t need to be.
My bestie @Atreegrowsinelmgrove just moved back home after two years in Spokane and brought me a book from my favorite bookstore out there!!! Best reunion EVER 🤣
This is a story of hopes and dreams, rebirth, finding your voice and community
#funinthesunsummerbookswap Ready to get shipped out.
Book and lunch. It was almost 30 degrees celsius today so it was nice to be eating and reading on the patio. 😊
Crappy times call for soul food. In this case said food is in book form. ❤️
