I'm not being melodramatic when I say that I will NEVER recover from this book. If it were possible, I would confiscate these characters from Brown until he learns how to treat them better. I can't believe he killed my favourite character! Despite all of that, I will never stop singing the praises of this series (apparently, I'm a sucker for punishment because this is my favourite instalment). I will say, be VERY mindful of the trigger warnings.

I really enjoyed this book because I was very intrigued early on and then I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the character development of Lysander and I enjoy reading from perspectives of both sides of a conflict. There were a lot of plot twists I didn't expect and I'm excited to read the next book. I want to see if Sevro survived and what will happen between Darrow and Cassius.

This was epic, action packed and absolutely heartbreaking. I am very glad I waited until the next book was out before reading this one. If I didn‘t have several library holds up I would go right to Light Bringer, but I definitely want to see what happens next in this fantastic space opera. 5⭐️

I think I pulled a muscle with this stretch for the August #titlesandtunes theme, so bear with me. #theworldismyOYSTER ➡️ Blue OYSTER Cult ➡️ (Don‘t Fear) THE REAPER ➡️ Darrow of Lykos aka THE REAPER ➡️ Dark Age.

I went with Dark Age instead of Light Bringer, because I‘ll reread Dark Age in August, but won‘t get to Light Bringer.

Not Dark Age…but maybe something even better…NEWS ABOUT A DRAFT OF THE NEXT BOOK!!! This most excellent news comes from Brown‘s Instagram. Definitely sounds as if we are a step closer to getting the next book and I, for one, couldn‘t be more excited!!! (Seriously, look at me using all the exclamation points!)

So. Excited.

Can. Not. Wait.

I just can‘t choose between Dark Age and Ophie‘s Ghosts for #12booksof2021 #may. They were both 5 star reads, but very different. I loved Ophie‘s story and loved the reading experience. Dark Age, like the entire series, is an incredible, well-written roller coaster, but exhausting. I felt worn out by the time it was over.

Andrew65 Two brilliant choices. 3y

Getting to the end of a Red Rising novel is like surviving the Passage. There have been many tears, moments of hope (to quote Ted Lasso: it‘s the hope the kills you), a few laughs, and even a moment that made me scream and caused my household, dog included, to come running to see if I was okay. I‘m exhausted and I‘m not ready for the final book. Take your time, Pierce. I know it will be bloodydamn brilliant when it comes.

I think I‘m finally ready for the heartbreak of DARK AGE, but maybe not. I‘m on chapter three and I sobbed my way through the prologue and chapter one. This is going to hurt.

(Also, is Pierce Brown trying to be GRRM, Jr? Is he ever going to give us the last book?? 😭😭)

Pierce Brown lives to torture his readers, you must endure much suffering for this series, there will be gasps, tears, and screams. I love it anyways but be prepared.

TheSpineView I preordered this book and still have not read it. I just haven't been in the right mood for it because of Covid. Maybe next year? 4y

This series is all the feels😩 generally don‘t like when a series goes to a new generation but I‘m still quite invested in it! Now just to remember everything that happened before the last book comes out😬😩 #redrisingseries #darkage #waitingonbook6

I started out with the audiobook and promptly turned it off and pulled my hard copy from the shelf. They torched Lysander's voice. Idk why they would change the voice actor like that, it completely altered his character.

I feel like this audiobook is taking me forever. To be fair it is almost 34hrs long & I generally only listen to it when I am covering books at work so...it kind of is 🤷‍♀️. I decided to switch to the ebook for awhile & things are definitely progressing much faster.

It took me a couple of days after finishing this book to get here. In typical P. Brown fashion, I felt angry, sad and dirty at the end. I struggled through it for personal reasons, but I‘m glad I made it. This series truly is worth the praise from the drooling fans. The world is amazing! The story, with its sadness and curves draws you in and makes you care. It also tangles your brain. I love it. Can‘t wait for the finale!

I‘ve been reading this (on and off) for 6 months now! Sheesh! It‘s not that it isn‘t great. It is. It‘s powerful and exciting and heartbreaking. I just have not had any time to read. This series is like GoT though, so it‘s hard to remember all the characters and politics if you don‘t keep fresh. Halfway though it now though and on a good streak. Should finish it in two weeks. 😂🤞🏻

I think I'm bias with this series, because when I started Red Rising, it blew my mind! I had never read anything like it ever before. Star Wars meets Game of Thrones, it was awesome! This book was no exception. Although, it's been awhile since I've read one of the Red Rising novel, and like GoT there are a ton of characters!!! So it was hard keeping them all straight at first, and also like GoT this one was really steeped in politics.

📘 No plans. I am home today with a bad cold so I just want to rest and feel better.

It was a long haul with this book. Started and stopped a couple of times. However, I loved it. Very violent, but exciting, surprising, and sad. To enjoy this book you must know the characters and plot lines in the last four books. I think of this series of the sci-fi Game of Thrones. So you know what you are getting.

I finally finished it!! I feel like I was reading it for years. That was a lot, and could have easily been broken up into two novels. I have lots of thoughts, but not enough space on here to do it. In brief, it was good, dark, violent, complicated, not very stressful, and long. Whew.

I‘m officially postponing DARK AGE for now. I took a break from the audio, thinking maybe a print version would feel less anxiety-inducing, but NOPE. I am just not in the right place for this book right now. 😰

So, what else from my #librarystack should I read?? I‘m thinking the Vanderbeekers might be next, because they‘re probably my least stressful option, right?
