I honestly have no idea how this book got on my radar. I don't love the illustrations, but they aren't bad. The story is a pretty fun fantasy - kind of Narnia-esque, I think, or maybe it's just a common fantasy trope. I enjoyed it and I imagine it would be lots of fun for the target audience. I probably won't go out of my way to read more of the series, but if it pops up on my Hoopla suggestions list and I have check outs left, I'll carry on.

Amulet is a great book with a nine book series it has a lot of twists and turns and is very enjoyable.

In the first book the girl/Emily walks into this old house and starts finding a hole bunch of secrets.

Amulet is a book about this whos dad just died in a car crash and is trying to get a fresh start in life so her family (mom and brother) move to there long died grandpas house where they find something both amazing and scary.
I think this is one of my most favorite book series. I would highly recommend this book to any comic book readers that love fantasy reads

3 ⭐ This was a fun story, but the storyline wasn't something that wowed me or gave me something unexpected or surprising. The artwork was really great, however, and I'd give it at least 4 stars. Overall, it was entertaining enough for me to check out the next book from the library to see where it goes, but it isn't something that I must have for my own collection.

This was a fun romp. I see why this series is popular with kids. I enjoyed the world building, and it managed to have a high-stakes story without being scary or serious. Cool intro to the magic for the series too. I plan to continue reading the series 👍

This book is great if you like adventure. After a family tragedy. The family move to an old ancestors house. That night the family go to an alternate universe of earth. The mother gets captured and it‘s up to the kids Emily and Navin to save there mother. The genre is adventure.

MissYaremcio Great work Max! Make sure you check your post for spelling and punctuation errors! You included the genre of the book instead of the pacing of the graphic novel! (edited) 5y

Beautiful illustrations with an interesting albeit predictable story. Lots of potential here for some compelling character growth and cool world-building. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

Ok, so my 10yo has been on my case to read this. He was introduced to the series by @MeganAnn & her son in a junior Christmas book swap. He is now up to book 8 and waiting with baited breath for book 9 & beyond.

I finally decided to give it a go because @Jeg has asked us to read graphic novels for book club.

This may be an awesome read for some, but given I‘m not a fan of fantasy or comics & I‘m not a 10yo, well it‘s just not for me.

Tamra My son is reading them and seems to like them, but I‘m in your camp. 😊 6y
MeganAnn Well I‘m glad he loves the series anyway! Axton is also anxiously waiting for book 9. I read the first few and thought they were interesting, but haven‘t continued on. They are definitely geared towards the middle grade ages so I think in a graphic novel form, that‘s a little harder for us adults to get into sometimes. 6y

Amulet, Book 1: A good start for this graphic novel series. I found art to be ok but the story is decent. The characters are memorable. This should be a good series to read even for the adults.

@MeganAnn Clem read Amulet yesterday. He loved it and has seen the series at his school library, so he‘s gonna dash in there this morning to borrow the next one.

Clem: “It was really random and you didn‘t know what was going to happen next! The characters were really different and weird, like the robot bunny.”

Oh and he finished The Abominable Snowman too. He loved the ‘choose your own ending‘ and the special powers in it.

Thanks Axton 👍.

MrsMalaprop Hey @MeganAnn not sure you saw this post? Clem‘s loving the books you sent. Thanks again 😊. 7y
MeganAnn @MrsMalaprop oh goodness yes I did see it! I waited so I could show it to Axton that night after school and then I think I completely forgot to go back and comment! 🤦🏻‍♀️ I‘m so happy Clem is enjoying the books!! 7y

This was a cute comic. The artwork was phenomenal and the story has a lot of promise plus the cliffhanger ending. I did have a hard time with how easily the family went from everything is normal to look a magical amulet and all these horrifying beings that exist. There was no shock. I felt like I was missing something. But the artwork and the cliffhanger are enough that I will read book number two.

This book is a little dark, considering it's an all ages comic. There's a car wreck, human-eating creatures, death. But there is also talking robots, a smart stuffed bunny, good vs. evil, and I liked the artwork. I will definitely pick up the rest of the series.

My daughter and I went to the bookstore today. While I was waiting for assistance, she found Amulet. When I got back to her, she was almost half way. I decided to check out YA, giving her more time to read. When it was REALLY time to go, she looked at me w/ eyes that said, "I'm so close, please?" And that, my friends, is how I came to own Book 1 of a wonderful series, which she finished in the car! I think you all know what that means ?
