For November I am introducing my fantasy book club to Hadrian & Royce and I won't lie I am pretty nervous. I love these characters so much and some of the people in my book club are pretty critical. 😬🤞

This is a traditional, fun epic fantasy adventure. This volume is actually the first two books in Riyria Revelations, this author‘s beginning to an expansive world. Our main characters are Royce & Hadrian, a pair of thieves who can accomplish impossible assignments. The story with a couple of seemingly unrelated thefts that throw them into political conspiracies, and a cast of delightful characters.⬇️
My work stressors are wrapping up so I can participate in some #readathons again! I haven‘t done the #backlistreadathon before but it lined up well with my next audiobook on my tbr. I read the first two of Michael J Sullivan‘s Legends of the First Empire, before realizing it was part of a larger world. So I‘m going to go back and read in publishing order as the author recommends. Thanks @Clwojick & @TheAromaofBooks for hosting!
Now that it‘s my day off, I can finally start the #JoyousJanuary Readathon! My goal is to finish A Haunted History of Invisible Women which I‘m halfway through at the moment. Start and finish both The Cottage Fairy Companion and My Hygge Home and finally to make a decent dent into my #bookspin pick Theft of Swords. It‘s a chonker, but technically it‘s two books in one so…if I get halfway through book one I‘ll be happy. @Andrew65 @TheAromaofBooks
Ever have a series that you can read over and over like watching reruns of your favorite TV show? This is one of mine. Like an old friend, a favorite movie. I‘m in the middle of a new thriller and the All Souls Trilogy, one‘s quick, one‘s dense, but neither was what I needed right now. I needed comfort, familiarity, and a story I know I already love. Which books do you read over and over again? #theftofswords #riyria #comfortbooks #reread
I‘m going to marry Hadrian.
I loved this. The simplicity of the story with the classic tropes & the banter between Hadrian & Royce makes it so enjoyable.
A great pick for those who want to move out of YA fantasy but are worried about difficult worldbuilding & heavy politics, this has both but it‘s not overwhelming, and it‘s fun!

Ahhh I finally acquired this series. I ordered the box set a week ago and it‘s finally here. I won‘t be starting it till next month due to ARCs that need to take priority but I am excited. Also why did no one tell me there is a glossary and pronunciation guide in them!!! I love that!
Previously, I read the Age of Empire series which timeline is in the past of this series. This current series tickles me as I see the changes that the history makes. Michael J Sullivan writes easily compared to other world makers-looking at you George RR Martin and Patrick Rothfuss.
I was wondering how the two narratives would come together! 😆😆 Actually this is why I'm not a huge fan of reading high fantasy, I just lose a lot of details like names and places. Also, HMMM to some revelations #teamharkness #scarathlon2020
Haven't posted about this one yet. It was rec'd to me by my brother who LOVES the series and pretty much anything this guy writes. It's been on my tbr for at least a year 😅 and the hype is high, which is probably why I feel hypercritical about it, it's ok so far, let's see what happens next 😉 #teamharkness #scarathlon2020

Michael Sullivan‘s fantasy/adventure series is high on my favorites list. I just can‘t get enough of those lovable rogues: Royce and Hadrian. They are a great duo. This is another series I highly recommend via audio.
@Andrew65
Birthday book haul! My boyfriend took me to this awesome secondhand bookstore that I‘ve been dying to go to since January. Floor to ceiling stacked books, books in piles on the floor, books piled on top of boxes that are full of books 😍 Can‘t wait to go back!
I'm finally reading The Riyria Revelations books! It's my mom's ( @myellenbee ) favorite fantasy series after Lord of the Rings, and I can see why. It's good, pulpy fantasy fun so far.
This was such an awesome fantasy book! Despite the book containing every single fantasy trope you can think of, Mr. Sullivan puts a little twist to them, which I found delightful. The character were so well written, I enjoyed every single one of them. This is fun fantasy that moves quickly, can't wait to read the rest of the series. 5 out of 5.

Here are the first seven books on the left side of one of my fantasy shelves! 😁 The Riyria series is so fantastic-lots of humor, great characters, and a super engaging story!
Thank you for the tag @Meaw_catlady 🤗📚💕
Thrilling and fun quick read. The book consists of two stories with different plot lines. I loved the two main characters and how true to their character they were throughout the story. I came to expect how they would behave in a certain situation and loved their witty interactions. The book feels like a mixture of a D&D adventure, classical fantasy and the Witcher. Loved every single page!
Alric looked up at the thief with a scowl. "I just want to say for the record that as far as royal protectors go, you're not very good."
"It's my first day," Royce replied dryly.
"And already I'm trapped in a timeless prison. I shudder to think what might have happened if you had a whole week."
I love a lot of genres, but fantasy has always been my favorite and holds a special place in my heart! Give me a sprawling, epic fantasy any day! 💕📚

I got mail today from my lovely and dear friend @fabienne.luethi ❤️ She made me a #bookmark for our #buddyread of Michael J. Sullivans "Theft of Swords" ??❤️ Thank you so much ?
x-posted from my instagram.
I just adore this series. If you're looking for an epic fantasy series with thieves, kick-ass women, and political intrigue, check this one out. ♥️
This was a reread for me. Really good light fantasy series. I'd recommend for tweens/teens as a good intro into adult fantasy (no sex or bad language).
And finally....the awesome selection of books 😍 I love that you added some of your favs in (and thanks for the Mindy Kaling add!). I can't wait to start Theft of Swords. It sounds so good! I have a friend staying with me for a while and she can't wait to read it either! These picks are perfect!
Thank you so much @Melissa_J for an amazing swap. You spoil me, as usual. I hope you enjoy your package as much as I did 😘😘

I hate when I‘m too tired to read. 😴😴
Did at least 4 hours of yard work today! We are trying to create a bigger backyard so had to pull out trees and brush (which you can kind of see in the background) and will hopefully get clean fill this week!
Relaxing by the fire now and trying to burn some of the wood! No reading happening right now.
I‘m about 100 pages into this book and enjoying it so far!

Book 32 of 2019 - I'm really torn about this epic fantasy. It's a very standard swords-and-sorcery epic with lots of fantasy tropes and a medieval European world. There was also a real lack of interesting female characters (so often an issue in fantasy, sigh). However, the characters and the central mystery were just intriguing enough to keep me reading for hundreds of pages.
The Good:
Likeable characters, detailed world building, lots of swashbuckling action, appropriate for any age group or audience
The Bad:
Underdeveloped characters (especially the female characters), too much exposition, a lot of tropes, longer than it needed to be
Not the best fantasy novel I've read, but overall it was very enjoyable. I've already bought the next book in the series and I'm looking forward to reading it.
I'm about halfway through Book II of the Riyria Revelations. It started a little slow but it's getting better.
Whew! It's been snowing nonstop since 10:00 this morning! ❄⛄🌬 They closed the library early! I should be a mature adult and use this time to get a jump start on my homework for the week...but I think I'm going to make tea and curl up with this book instead! 😁💕📚👍

I need to get my hands on the next in the series ASAP!!!

Newest fiction crush is a toss up between Hadrian & Royce. I can't decide which one I like more. They are quiet the team.😍

All of my family is out of town for the forth so I am going to stay out of this heat and hibernate inside, just me, my Jaws socks, & my books, until it is firework time.
Yes, apparently I am now one of those people who use my ereader as a bookmark. I wanted to take both of my books to work tonight in case it is slow 😂😂
An entertaining read, the characters are fun and the plot interesting.
Michael Sullivan is an author I have enjoyed in the past, so I decided to finally get to more from him. The audios are really good and the narrator for his books does a great job!
A refreshing read. Recommend this book to all those who love lotr, eragon, etc. Good fantasy setting with a strong characters.
When you wake up to this 🙌 @Melissa_J have you seen this!? #riyria #michaeljsullivan #fantasy #hesunderrated
I received my limited edition of The Disappearance of Winter's Daughter in the mail a few days ago and I am in love with it!

I have found similarities in the author's writing style with that of Terry Brooks. From the first book there are references to the deer, elves, goblins, but they are never deep. the reader becomes aware of some history of elves. And that is the element I loved the most. To get to know the plot very slowly, however, without boring me. As soon as I finished the last page I perceived the lack of character jokes and their lack.
