Such a pretty book and soo not for me. A very annoying snowflake of an MC and an abusive love interest. Nope just nope 👎

I enjoyed this one. It was a quick read and left me with enough questions that I‘ll definitely read the next one. I can tell it was written by a new author, but honestly I still felt pulled into the story and want to see how the main characters continue to develop. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bookmail! Booktok got me. Even though I don't read many series overall, this sounded good to me. Maybe it was the librarians apprentice part.
This is one of my favorite books from my favorite series by Ms. Kova. As a writer I‘m drawn to how well she mixes words and how quickly she puts 🖊 to paper. The world building and character development is so beautifully done and never interrupts the flow of the story. Currently re-reading with a group for the second time. A high fantasy full of twists and turns with epic battles and all the feels. Highly recommend!
I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 93.

This is my #marchwrapup. Thanks to the Air Awakens series, I finished more books this month than I anticipated. I hope to read close this amount in April also. #kindle #audiobook #book
I let my book wheel decide my next read and it was blessing and a curse of sorts. I now want to devour the rest of the series and feel like I won't be able to fast enough. #yafantasy #kindle #kindleunlimited #fantasy
I enjoyed this. I enjoyed this not only for the magic or the formulaic enemies to friends (very important) to something more. I enjoyed the relatable confusion with finding yourself and the cringe-y (but accurate) “I am not in to you, but I don‘t want to lose your friendship” relationship. Is it full of tropes and cheese? Sure, but that is what I needed right now! #bookjournal
Wrap up. I read 32 books this month. It was very hard to get 32 in a collage so I finally gave up and did 16 of the ones I liked better.
My faves this month were the Air Awakens series, The ACOTAR series, A Curse So Dark & Lonely, Shadow & Bones and Ruthless Gods.

Why did it take me so long to read this? This book is full of all the things I love. A librarian heroine with new magic powers, brooding enemy who ends up becoming a friend (and maybe something more). A unique magical world and the beginnings of what looks to be a great found family. I can't wait to read the rest of this series, and continue to see where the author takes us.
1st card down for #TBRDeckofCards
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down. I put this book on my TBR list because I thought the cover was interesting.
@Clwojick
"Fire needs air to live. Air fuels fire, stokes it, and makes it burn brighter and hotter than it ever could alone. But too much air will snuff it completely, just as too many flames will consume all the air. They are far greater than the sum of their parts together, but are equally as dangerous to each other‘s existence."
"Summer storms were common in the capital and Vhalla Yarl had endured their visits in the seven years since she had moved from the East, but lightning and thunder were never welcome guests."
#FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
This book was full of clichés, and tropes I don't like. The characters were also superficial and I didn't like the romances either. So I'm not continuing with the series.
Thanks @Lollymya for the tag and @BayouGirl85 for hosting!
I‘m reading Air Awakens and I‘m going with not sure. I hate all the love interests, the MC needs to grow lady balls and I hope something interesting happens soon cause it‘s kinda dragging right now. I‘m about 70% into it too so we‘ll see!

I was pleasantly surprised by this book and couldn‘t put it down! The world building is decent, and the story is not particularly original. The strength of this story lies in its characters. I loved Aldrik for his unlovability and Vhalla for her weakness and naïveté. I can‘t wait to pick up the next book!
4⭐'s. This book really surprised me! I really liked Vhalla but I'm honestly not sure how I feel about her and Prince Aldrik. At times I liked him but then at times I didn't.
Surprisingly good, I flew through this book and immediately picked up the next
I somehow loved this book even more the second time around! Is it particularly original? Naw. It's a solid YA fantasy that uses some of my favourite tropes (love triangle with a brother *cough*) and has a Mc who is a librarian so....like it's only missing time travel and it would then be perfect. Plus the covers of this series are insane
Time for a good old reread!
Loved this series! The characters, setting, and story are all believable so it‘s a quick immersion into the Solaris Empire. Vhalla and Aldrik are adorable and seeing their relationship progress was so intriguing. The audiobook is fantastic as well, the narrator does a great job distinguishing characters and has amazing accents for emphasis.
Thank you, @VeganCleopatra 🥰📚 - I had forgotten I had this on my tbr and when I got it for you I thought to myself ‘this sounds really cool‘ - so good on you for picking this!

Vortex Visions is a sequel to the Air Awakens series that I loved. It follows VI, Vhalla's daughter. If you didn't read Air Awakens, don't dispair! This series stands alone!
I've been anxiously awaiting this since Elise Kova announced it. Can't wait!
This was incredibly cliche and quite predictable. The love interest was a dickhead (but he's a price so it's ok) and the main character was a wet lettuce. She didn't consciously do anything except put herself down.
It didn't even really have enough substance for me to dislike it, it was just eh.
4/10 💫
Enjoyed this a lot. It's a coming of age romance with the trappings of fantasy, focusing on how Vhalla's life is completely changed as she finds herself with poorly understood abilities that make her the interest of multiple political factions & people. Throughout she's directed more by other forces than her own choices but it ends with strong hints toward more self agency and growth in the following books. Looking forward to the next one!
$0.99 sale on Air Awakens ebook.
(Or pick up the 5-book bundle for $9.99.)
We snapped this up the second it went on sale. First, the cover is gorgeous. (Is that a good reason to buy a book? Of course! Then again, we can‘t think of any bad reasons.)
Second... library girl? Love it. Dark and fiery prince? Oh, yeah. Mysterious magic society? Why isn't this book in our hands right now??? (Oh, hey, look at that. It is!)

5/5 stars!
I absolutely adored this book from the beginning. This is about Vhalla, a librarian's apprentice who finds out she can wield magic. She has to decide if she is going to keep it and complicate her life, or have it eradicated from her. The magic system is little like avatar where you have affinities. The characters are complex and multidimensional. I could relate to a main character that loves books. I wonder why?😂 Also the cover is😍!
Rating wavers from 3.5 ⭐️ to 4 ⭐️ depending on my mood. I enjoyed the story though the romance angle seemed a little too soap opera for me at times. But I'm just an aromantic (is this a word? if not, it is now), asexual girl in a romance-driven world, so not much I can do. 🤷🏽♀️
I wanted to like this more. The premise was is good, a young library trainee inadvertently saves a prince. She turns out to have rare, previously though extinct, powers. These things frustrated me: 1. Her stubbornness to not train, which was messily explained. 2. None of the male characters are likable. 3. The book felt rushed and choppy. 4. Just needed further character development #vaginalfantasy #glorytotheguild #ya
I‘m mixed on this book so far, but I really appreciate this passage about how growing up so often closes our minds. #glorytotheguild #vaginalfantasy
I enjoyed this month‘s main pick for #VaginalFantasy book club. It‘s a good start with promise for the rest of the series. I‘ve heard that it only gets better from here, and if that‘s the case, I expect to thoroughly enjoy this series. Besides what‘s not to love about a librarian turned sorcerer? I look forward to where the story goes from here! Spoilery stuff to follow in comments.
#GloryToTheGuild
I have to say - there are several, very blatant, elements that feel like they were ripped off of the show 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'. Despite that or maybe because of it I really enjoyed the book. I would like to have actually seen Vhalla's power actually explored on a somewhat larger scale rather than her just blacking out every time but I assume we see more in the next books.

My reading buddies. Apparently the couch arm is comfier than the couch? Who knew!
#dogsoflitsy
I enjoyed this book and I might continue on with the series. However, I had a couple issues. First, I felt nothing for the love plot and it took away from the rest of the story for me. Second, there were a lot of clichés and at times it was simply too predictable. However, the world itself was great and I do want to learn more about it.
#VaginalFantasy #GloryToTheGuild
Tl;dr - The book was just 'okay' to me, but it's worth giving a go!
Okay, fine. Magical bond = he knew she would survive.
I'm still not feeling it though. 😑 Me and the main character are feeling the same scepticism.
#GloryToTheGuild #VaginalFantasy
I got about 1/5 into Air Awakens for the #VaginalFantasy book club last night. Although I really love the writing I seriously hope that stupid, self-absorbed prince is not the romantic interest of the book.
I don't think any amount of character development will make me less annoyed that he pushed a woman out a tower window. Sure, he was right, she lived. But if he had been wrong, it wouldn't matter to him. /endrant
#GloryToTheGuild
I really enjoyed this series! If you enjoyed Throne of Glass I recommend it!
The first book Air Awakens is kind of basic and follows along a lot of typical YA/Fantasy/Romance tropes but the series and characters develop well with each successive installment. It wasn‘t anything earth shattering but a nice enjoyable read that broke up some of the heavier books I‘ve read lately 😊😊😊
I started this one Sunday and finished Tuesday morning. Thank goodness Amazon prime has all three books you can read for free. I get to work an hour early so I can sit in my car and read this series. What will happen to my life when I have read them all??😣. I love these people, I need them around forever. Book two is breaking my heart. Please send help, I am a YA junkie now😂😂
I️ know who I️ am going to blame for this late night. Any book that can leave you speechless (book two) is a MUST read for me. I️ just started book one this afternoon and I️ am wondering if sleep or work are now just overrated activities😂😂 @SassenachTheBookWizard
I'm almost halfway through and this book is so addicting!! I have been looking for a new YA fantasy series to get into for so long! 🎉🎉🎉
I absolutely love this quote from Game of Thrones.
.
“I may be small, I may be a girl but I won‘t be knitting by the fire while I have men fight for me.”
.
I feel like this quote fits so well with @elise.kova series Air Awakens.
.
I know most people have watched Game of Thrones but I hat I want to know is have you read Game of Thrones or Air Awakens?

The first book I've managed to get through in the midst of my super intense book slump! I've read a lot of books along this vein, but I have to say I enjoyed this one more. Imaginative, with lots of potential world building in future books. Also maybe a love triangle (But it's a love triangle that doesn't bother me- so far)? I'm hoping my book slump is abating and I'll be able to enjoy the rest of the series soon!
SUCH AN UNDERRATED SERIES! I adored Air Awakens! The world building, the plot (think Avatar the Last Airbender meets fantasy 😂) and of course, that slow burn romance 😍 Plus, the covers are super pretty! Check out the first book if you have a thing for fantasy books! 9/10 ❤️
I'm going to start this one soon! I'm really excited to see what people are raving about. Any one else read this?
P.S. pictured here with my Aldrik candle from the melting library.

Air Awakens by Elise Kova is book 1 in a 5 book series.
This high fantasy world is filled with elemental magic and a diverse array of amazing characters. In the first book we are introduced to Vhalla as she becomes immersed in a dangerous world of magic and power. Through finding her own power, she also discovers friendship and love!
Air Awakens is a book I have recommended over and over to so many people ❤️
