bailedI can see how this would be fun, it just isn‘t working for me. I‘ve never played D&D myself, but have had friends who play and I thought it would be enough, but not quite. I‘ve also never heard the podcast (or any podcast, actually). So I‘m not bashing this at all, just not to my taste.

It has been a year now since I switched to a job that I can sneak some reading in on and it is awesome.
My husband adores the Adventure Zone podcast and when we saw this in the library he wanted me to try it out. It is good....I can see where the podcast would be better because of all the banter that they cannot really fully put in.
so-soThis took me a week to read - which is an indication that I found it a bit of a struggle - I liked parts of it - and it did make me laugh but I just didn‘t love it and I really thought I was going to.
Not sure if that‘s the takeaway here but ok 🤣

pick⬇Do not let the cover fool you. This isn‘t really for kids. I think kids would enjoy it, but some parents may be a little perturbed by the language. But other than that this was a riot. I have never heard of the Adventure Zone podcast, but I can guarantee that I will be looking it up. This book is like reading a role playing game like Dungeons and Dragons while it is taking place. ⬇

Client canceled, so I'm out walking before it thunderstorms and before my next client comes. Watched end of World Cup while I walked (Go USA!) and am now catching up on The Adventure Zone (going to a live show this fall!). Finished 2 books this week so far - Star Wars Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray (4 🌟) and City of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert (5 🌟).

pickFantastic comic book, it really does justice to the podcast and was a great throwback to the characters I've come to love.
Finished this one in about a day! The graphic novel was a quick read and an absolute obsession for the 24ish hours it took me to read it. I love their podcast that this book was based on and it was really interesting reading it right after I finished this segment of their podcast because there were some changes from the original storyline, but still so good!

First graphic novel of the year! Shockingly, despite my McElroy love, I haven‘t read this one before so fixing that now. On the hunt for more graphic novels to add to my TBR this year, so if you have favorites, pass them along!
Spent the last couple of days in Seattle at Podcon watching some good brothers record and hanging out with creative pals. 10/10 would recommend.

The McElroy's have a humor that I find heart-warming and pure. Carey Pietsch has done an amazing job translating this into comic form. and Tess Stone's lettering is dynamic, professional, and paired perfectly with Pietsch's art.

I'd be curious to see how people like this book if they have not listened to the podcast, because I can't help but love this as an extension of that podcast. But I suspect that adorable art, lovely colors, and cute humor will make this a book that's easy to love.

After reading the forward by Patrick Rothfuss I had to go and listen to the origins of this graphic novel; a podcast that goes by the same name. That, I must say, added a whole new level of depth for me. I recommend it!

It has been crazy in my household. I have also been juggling a few books before I start classes again next week. Today I received amazing news about a promotion that means I won‘t be working in the branches! I treated myself to an aloe plant. I also potted up some daughters to my Pilea. When I potted up the aloe, one of the daughters was ready for her own pot. Plants and books 🖤🖤🖤 Happy Wednesday! Loving both books 🖤

I am obsessed with The Adventure Zone (a Dungeons and Dragons podcast) and this graphic novel adaptation of their first campaign is A+! Beautifully drawn, hysterically funny, and with the promise of future comics. I‘ve read it twice this vacation, and I‘ve also decided I need to buy my own copy-the library‘s isn‘t enough!
