Vlot leesbaar, in korte hoofdstukken. Heel bijzonder verhaal, bestseller in Amerika. Voor jongeren vanaf ca. 15 jaar..

I couldn‘t help wanting more from They Both Die At The End: more detail in the world-building, more hope for the characters (I know, they‘re destined to die and that‘s The Point, but still!), and more depth to it all than just a doomed love affair. I can see why it did big numbers on #BookTok, but it left me feeling a bit bereft. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/they-both-die-at-the-end-adam-silvera/

I kept hoping for a plot twist or a metaphorical death and when it became apparent that Silvera did indeed mean dead, I shut down and couldn‘t finish. For six years. I finally was brave today and finished. No actual tears were shed but I‘m sure that had nothing to do with me being around other people. I did actually enjoy it and I liked the ending. I mean, if they had to die. #notaspoiler #itsinthetitle

LiteraryinPA 💗💗 I‘ve never read it for that reason. 7mo
Nutmegnc @peanutnine @LiteraryinLawrence Although I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, Silvera‘s work is just a hair too dark for me. I probably will not continue the series. I did enjoy his work with Becky Albertalli, mostly. 7mo

Cute, heartwarming and depressing, I blame Litsy for me reading this. Somehow Death Cast has the ability to let people know with in 24hrs that they are going to die. One night two teenagers, Mateo and Rufus get the call. They end up meeting each other under the last friend app and spent their last day together.
Just read it near kleenex 💙

Not quite halfway through and I‘m just not connecting. The story and character development seem slow at this point in the book. Im going to keep going and hope it ends up a pick by the end.

A poignant novel about what two teens do after getting the call that it‘s their last day alive. I can see why so many people love it. I just had trouble connecting to the characters and the emotion behind the idea.

Ok... so I have a problem continuously posting Adam Silvera quotes, but like my reading habits, I'm not all that worried! Now, I somehow must survive until September 2024 until the third Death Cast novel is released (impatient sigh) ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤

Mateo - the introverted lead from They Both Die at the End - will stay with me forever. I found so much of myself in him staring back at me. Most importantly, that it's OK to be scared and anxious, but letting go opens you up to a whole lot of possibilities (I draw the line at singing American Pie at the top of my lungs even though I LOVE that song!).

AileenRR I adore Mateo 💖 1y
TheIntrovertedDodoBird @AileenRR He's the best of us! 💕 I loved seeing 9 year old him in the prequel 😊. 1y

TheIntrovertedDodoBird @AileenRR Ooh, my goodness! You will LOVE this one! I hope you get your turn with the book soon (prepare to shed some tears - I must admit, I cried harder at the prequel). It's ever so beautiful! Seeing Mateo and Rufus as kids was so sweet 💓. I can't wait to see what you think! Now, we just have to wait for Death Cast #3 to be released next year! 1y

Flawless storytelling, Silvera delivers a tale of friendship, courage & morality. Two teenage boys set out to live their End Day without regrets when Death Cast, the mysterious tech that predicts death, call to deliver the news of their approaching demise. Mateo, introverted & lonely, meets his foil, Rufus, & the pair become Last Friends who develop a devoted bond. The ending was bitter-sweet, hence the title. I need the Netflix adaption pronto!

#bookspin June

On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They‘re going to die today.

+I loved the premise and the inclusivity. I will definitely include this in my classroom library
-the “mad cool” “mad crazy” verbiage took me out of the story a bit.

Apparently this YA novel is getting a lot of hype on Tik Tok. I‘m not totally sure why since the storyline is kind of cliche (perhaps beyond the gay romance/star crossed lovers angle which was admittedly cute even if it was predictable).

Theres an unrelated reference to Moulin Rouge in the novel - which I literally just saw on Broadway.

I really enjoyed this. Such an interesting concept - that you are notified on the day you are going to die. The story of two people who find each other on their last day and the journey to live that day to the full.

4✨ Obviously, this book is going to end in a sad place. Yet, it was worth the ride. Unlikely friends who find themselves together because they both got the alert they were dying today. Their connection is interesting and unusual, but they each teach each other more about life as they live it to the fullest. While it was really sad it was great learning and caring about these characters.

This morning, I woke up from a literal nightmare about this book.
I was 25% through, and there is just no way I can finish it.

I did like what I had read, but there is no coming back from that.

I've read much worse content. Surprised that this one got to me.

For me, this book wasn‘t bad but it wasn‘t good. The author tried to interweave multiple characters‘ storylines together but left me with too many narrators. I didn‘t feel like I could get attached to anyone which left me feeling unsatisfied. Plus, not getting full details at the end wasn‘t my favorite (if you know, you know).

How would you want your End Day to go down???

I didn‘t love this one like people do. Getting a call on the day of your death is an interesting plot device and I liked both main characters individually. However, I didn‘t find the romance very convincing and the dialogue didn‘t feel very genuine. I actually really liked the interludes with other minor characters and the feeling that created of everything being connected on the fateful day of Rufus and Mateo‘s death.

😭😭This was a great book. Sad and hopeful at the same time. The Death Cast service informs people they will die within 24 hours. 18 year olds Rufus and Mateo get the call. They meet on their end day and spend their first and only day together before dying at the end. You know what‘s coming but it‘s still sad 😢 Reading the prequel next.

Almost halfway listening to my first @adamsilvera and loving Rufus and Mateo. I'm looking forward to the tv series adaptation where Death-Cast informs people that they only have 24 hours to live.

Death is inevitable. To be able to know a day before you die I think is a gift. So curious as to how this story ends!
