Quick read, caught me off guard a few times!
Efing Violet!!! Necessary People Violet, NECESSARY PEOPLE!!!! 🤦🏽♀️
Truly a ‘meh‘ book... overall well-written, but all of the main characters are awful and complete unlikeable... it truly just shows the worst aspects of “being ambitious”... it‘s not the worst, but I have read books of similar plots that have managed it much better than this one. ⭐️⭐️
My little books buddy Mayvne is doing such a good job "helping" me finish up reading my book! ?? #puppiesoflitsy
I was not impressed. I was expecting a twisty thriller and this was not it. Honestly, the sad thing is my favorite part was Violet‘s big story. I did not care for the references to sex or the language. I am disappointed I wasted my time on this. I think it does reveal that we all will do terrible things to succeed. @jenniferajanes I would not recommend reading it. There are much better books out there.
Here‘s the proof! @cjbooklover is hogging Necessary People, which *I* checked out from the library. She‘s also got The Silent Patient in her lap because she wants to read it before I turn it in. 😂😂😂
My younger daughter is in the kitchen fixing herself a snack, listening to Pride and Prejudice on #audible. 😍
I'm fickle. This one felt like a combo of so many other similar storylines I've read over the past couple of years. Nothing felt original and I didn't really care what happened to the characters. 🤷🏼♀️
Twenty somethings, jealousy, ambition, tv news, and something sinister beneath it all.

The haves and the have nots-Violet comes from nothing and works her ass off while Stella is privileged and given everything she wants. This one is a dark story of loyalty, jealousy, and friendship. Quick and easy read.
I want to give this one 3.5 stars and it‘s somewhere between a pick and so-so. I feel like there could have been more build up and tension with Violet and Stella‘s relationship. I also wanted to hear more about Violet‘s past. At times it reminded me of #fashionvictim but didn‘t quite go that far
My reading slump is officially over. This book was wild! So as not to spoil anything, I‘ll stop there 🤐
(And yes, I have taken this book with me pretty much everywhere over the last three days! Pictured above, you can see us spending time at the dog park 😅)
#botm #bookofthemonth #necessarypeople
Having a bit of book ADD (if that‘s even a thing?) - the other book I was reading/ listening to started to feel like a chore, so I‘m switching to my May #BOTM pick - nothing like a good thriller to get you out of a reading rut, right?
This one has great reviews on Litsy, so I‘m excited to get started!
#thriller #bookofthemonth #frienemies
I inhaled this today! A slow burning (but super effective) tale of two frienemies, their ambition, and how it affects them both. I couldn't even tell you what I was hoping for by the end, but my heart was beating just a little too fast in a good way. Really happy with this #BOTM pick 👏🏽
We all have that one friend that constantly competes with us, wants all of the attention and thinks they‘re doing you a favor by being friends. Stella is that person. The novel was an interesting take on the interdependence of friendship, especially when one friend starts irritating the other as in Violet‘s case. All she wanted was something of her own and to step out of Stella‘s shadow
This May #BOTM read tackles the drama of the newsroom and also of unbalanced friendships in quite the page-turning fashion! I really couldn‘t set this down! And it made me thankful that I didn‘t pursue news networks with my journalism major! The plot has its predictable moments, but the characters feel real and in #TheEnd, I felt satisfied... despite some vile actions! #MayMovieMagic
Whew! After much deliberation, I've finally decided which *physical* books will be coming with me on the cruise. A couple of #BOTM picks, the only Karin Slaughter I haven't read yet, and some others that have been staring me down from my shelf. Not pictured are 15 freshly downloaded Kindle Unlimited and Libby picks. Suffice it to say that I'll not be lacking options on vacation! 😆🛳🏖
Wow! This book! I wasn't sure what to expect when I picked it, but I'm so glad it did! It told the story of a side of friendship we don't see often. Jealousy...ambition....WTF moments! It was a slow burn for sure, but before you know it, you're in the story and can't stop. This is a story that will be with me for a long while. I highly recommend! #botm #triller #thatcoverthough
I had a hard time picking a book this month, but this one called to me. It's been a slow start, but I'm at the point where I don't want to go to bed! Hoping it continues on this path and can't wait to see what happens! #botm #stayuptoolate
I liked this book and don‘t regret getting it for my BOTM pick, but it was definitely a slow burn. I felt like it took a long time to develop and get to anything exciting. The author did a good job of supplying an unreliable narrator and unlivable characters which really made the book interesting. I felt like there could have been more explanations and ideas explored, but overall, I liked this one. #botm
#botm came today! After they brought out the BFF program and I saw I wasn't part of it because I paused my account I was going to cancel. But when I went to cancel my account I saw that I was a BFF after all Do i decided Keep my account for a little bit longer. Am kinda sad that I didn't get one of the cool BFF book markers in my box!
Whoot whoot!! My May Book of the Month has arrived!! Cant wait to use the tote!
Necessary People was my Book of the Month pick for May and The Astonishing Color of After was my add on. I‘m very excited about both of these books!
If you do BOTM, what did you pick this month?
What did you guys choose for your May book for Book of the Month?! Thanks @felinesandfiction for posting this collage! I chose "Necessary People" because I just LOVE thrillers and cant get enough.
Not sure if this a new thing, or just new to me. Apparently you can qualify for #BOTM BFF once you‘ve ordered 12 boxes. I‘ve been a member for almost 2 years, but often skip, so I only qualified this month. Perks include a free tote bag when you join, free add-on during your birthday month, and free choice of the Book of the Year finalists.
Wasn‘t super excited about any of this month‘s choices, but the tagged book is what I decided on for May!
