The Fox family and Huxley Gallagher find themselves on a whirlwind adventure tracking down the infamous ring of Vlad the Impaler. This book was not a good read. The plot points were weak and the relationship the author was trying to portray was awkward and cringey. With that being said I was curious how it ended and wasn‘t all that surprised when the ending also wasn‘t that great.

I DNFed this one! I just couldn‘t stand how the main character spoke! It just felt so out of place! And of course oblivious father and hunky love interest. If there was smut in here I would say this is perfect for people who have a adopted sibling but isn‘t sibling kink.
I am being harsh. I may start the book up again. Who knows.

This is a really fun read - very much an adventure movie in a book. Gave me The Mummy and Jungle Cruise vibes - lots of adventure and humour with a plucky heroine and a dash of romance.

This was a surprise. A challenge book fitting the star sign Sagittarius. Not does this book really fit for people with this star sign, but it was a novel tagged with Romance that I enjoyed! That's mostly because Bennett doesn't loose herself in the romance part. It's important to the story, yes, but the characters are great, their emotions fitting, and the story is fast and filled with action and fantasy.

I‘ve read a few of Bennett‘s realistic YA romances but this was the first with a supernatural twist. I wasn‘t disappointed!

Set in the 1930‘s, The Lady Rogue follows Theodora Fox, a young woman who bucks all of society‘s conventions (love this trope!) to rescue her madcap treasure-hunting father & reclaim the love of her life (curly-haired, Irish “Huck”). Includes (light) commentary on sexism, power, & the nature of grief. Also, Dracula! 🧛🏻‍♂️

I went with the book that‘s NOT my Book Club pick. I even put it on the bottom in a half-hearted attempt to convince myself to do the right thing. 🙈 Wish me speedy reading!

I‘m not super-far in yet...but I feel pretty comfortable describing “The Lady Rogue” as Buffy the Vampire Slayer meets Warehouse 13, set in the 1930‘s (& partially at sea!). I‘m not mad about it.

I absolutely loved this historical YA book! I adored the characters and their dynamics, I absolutely loved the main character, Theodora, she was funny, clumsy and smart. I loved the historical side of the book, and it was super interesting. I really enjoyed the adventure and all the places we got to see, the romance was so sweet and not the main focus which I really liked. I loved the plot twists and the overall storyline and mystery. I Loved it!

This was a romp that just about harkens back to The Mummy (1999), with just enough magic and mayhem to add some kick to the wild adventure through the Carpathian Mountains. I listened to the audiobook, but I enjoyed it so much I‘ve ordered an actual copy.

omg the Stalking Jack the Ripper series feels! Now I'm disappointed this is a standalone. I want more. I got far too emotionally attached to the characters and especially the romance. I loved the time period and it's a geographic setting we don't normally get. The mystery had me going the whole book. I feel like Jenn Bennett could do so much with Theodora's character and her romance over a couple more books.

kamoorephoto I loved this book! 💓 So fun! 5y

Snappy YA adventure with a great heroine. The romance thread was, in my opinion, extraneous, but at least not obnoxious.

I've got....a lot of thoughts about this one. It feels like a YA contemporary romance novelist read a few wikipedia pages and then bludgeoned a ya romance into a historical fantasy. I think some will really enjoy it....the main characters are loveable....but I was so disappointed overall. I'll expand later just because I want to get it off my chest..
But I'm a little saddened by it....

Ok...I'm enjoying this... love the Indiana Jones vibes....but some is bothering me: they are in Romania in 1937. Uh....some really big things were brewing at the time in Europe...and I feel like Theo and Huck would be encountering that...like in Newspapers or in the attitudes of people. Maybe this comes up later? Anyone out there have thoughts?

I'm used to reading Bennett's young adult contemporary romances but I really like them so I decided to give this historical supernatural whatnot a whirl. I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were fantastic, lots of fun knowledge tidbits about nefarious people, and the settings were well-constructed. The villain was scarier before the climax though.

This is a fun, witty, quick historical fiction read. The journey, mystery and sass have shades of A Gentleman‘s Guide to Vice and Virtue with Theo and Huck searching for Theo‘s missing father. While this is my first time with this author I don‘t think it will be my last.

This story had it all. Mystery, romance, action, witchcraft, and magic. This was right up my alley. Theodora is chasing after her missing father who is a treasure hunter and is on a mission to find Vlad the Impaler‘s, or better known as Dracula, cursed ring. Theodora‘s life will never be the same after this wild chase through Romania. Thank you NetGalley for the early review copy. 🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was most interested in the setting and the Eastern European history worked into this fantasy adventure, but over all - this took me too long to read. I was never fully invested in it. Strongly prefer her contemporary romances. #bbrc #teenangst #newin2019 #netgalley
