Book 2 of #SummersEndReadathon - In 2017, when Hurricane Harvey hit, we had a gas panic. The lines were long, gas stations ran out, and some people apparently filled personal barrels. That was for gas, but what if it was an issue with water, which we all need to survive? Dry brings that situation to life as the taps run out. I soaked (ha!) this one up. It‘s plausible fiction and I had to force myself to turn it off. #Booked2019 #Clifi

Cinfhen I think I might try audio for this one....was the narrator good??? 4mo
Bookzombie @Cinfhen It‘s multiple voices, one for each character and the authors do the overall narration. I thought it was really good. 3mo

Finished this one during a buddyread.... Well, I like the idea behind the book pretty much, but the book is too long, it's too dump and there are happening so many things, that I don't believe them to happen. But besides it was a read definitely out of my comfort zone... 😉

Fantastic disaster / survival story. I used to live in the desert and scenarios like this one would always play out in my mind. Fun read.

This book made me thirsty. But it also made me slightly less guilty about the partially drank bottles of water that tend to collect on my nightstand. Between this book and the movie Signs it seems I‘m slightly subconsciously preparing for whatever is coming! 😂.

Skyrimir My husband leaves half drank glasses of water all over the house and I‘m always telling him he‘s like the little girl in Signs! 6mo

I have a curious fascination with disaster stories -apocalypse, plagues, droughts, manmade, environmental, whatever - I‘ll take them all, assuming they‘re well written. I imagine it‘s the way some feel when opening a new true crime novel - slightly disturbed, but giddily fascinated. This tale of the disastrous consequences of a California drought and water-outage fit the bill and I couldn‘t put it down. Also frighteningly plausible. #clifi

readordierachel I'm fascinated by those kinds of stories too. Stacking this one! 6mo

Woah. This book put a whole lot of things in perspective. I never thought I would enjoy a #clifi book, but I couldn‘t put this one down. It‘s amazing what could happen if you take away the one thing all humans need to survive. #booked2019

Well I FINALLY found a book I like for #CliFi #Booked2019 and I read the whole thing last night and this morning 😊😊😊😊. I had such a hard time finding a book and last night I found this on Litsy while doing a #clifi search. Definitely kept my attention and is a scary look at what could happen.

LibrarianRyan You should try reading his book Unwind. Not Cli-Fi, but another look at what could happen. And it's relevant to what is going on today. crazy good. 6mo
Cinfhen I think I may try your book because I was unsatisfied with my #CliFi pick (edited) 6mo

Bklover @LibrarianRyan I will, Ryan! Thanks! I have Thunderhead on my stack as well. 6mo
Bklover @Cinfhen I couldn‘t get into Gold Fame Citrus either. I just checked another out though by Jasper Fforde called Early Riser that sounds Cli-fi good too. After hunting and hunting now I‘ve found two. Go figure. Hugs to hubs. ❤️❤️❤️ 6mo
Bklover @Book_Fairy_Mary I agree! I haven‘t read them all yet but I‘ve enjoyed all that I‘ve read so far. What‘s your favorite? 6mo

Narration was amazing, the story was amazing, I really can‘t recommend it enough. A fascinating story, especially for someone that lives in a desert!

After a few failed attempts, I finally found a Cli-fi book that drew me in. It was scary because it seemed like an actual possibility. I liked how the story was told from all the different perspectives and the snapshots of others outside of the main group really showed how wide the disaster spread! #booked2019 #clifi

This is a really great dystopia type book that takes place in a what could be our very own time. That's what makes it so haunting, you could see this happening. Because I'm weird though, I think it would have been fine if it had ended on page 367. #yareads #catsoflitsy

Finally finished this one! I wasn‘t sure what to expect but it really kept me hooked! I‘m uneasy usually about switching POV‘s and this one not only switched a ton, but also added snippets that focused on the bigger picture and outside of the main characters and I really liked what it added to the story. Made me very thirsty reading it though!

This is my #CliFi pick for #Booked2019 and I loved it! I wasn‘t expecting to, honestly. Neal Shusterman is an amazing author. Dry is about a group of teens searching for water after upstream states cut off California‘s access to the Colorado River during a terrible drought. It‘s a slow build to realistic seeming disaster.

The beginning is gripping, the middle lulls, and the ending redeems. This book was definitely a rollercoaster, and not something I'd usually pick up to read as I don't usually enjoy a "kids save the world" type story, but this wasn't quite that. Dry is an eye-opening tale of not taking everyday amenities for granted. 3/5?

#booked2019 I happily discovered two books I read for nonfiction bingo also work for this challenge! 😀. And then I read the tagged book for climate fiction task. The storyline is a California community suddenly with no water supply- and how their behaviors go downhill as things become dire! It had good pacing and felt realistic , but the dialogue was very teen, and I struggled to engage with the characters. 3 stars.

I am so glad I picked this up with the silly need to all because the MC has my name and lives in my state haha. This book was amazing, so many moments that made me hold my breathe, made me cry, made me really question my own choices in life. Part of me wants to stockpile water now cuz who know what can happen. Either way, read this, it‘s amazing.
