Y'all, I am so in love with this sweet little nugget! Olive is such a joy. I just wish Moxie would chill tf out already. Seriously... she turns into a full on demon cat with the hissing and it makes me sad. Anybody have tips on how to smooth out the process of adding a new kitten to the mix? Or maybe recommendations for where I can find someone to perform a cat exorcism? 🐾

LiteraryinLawrence When we integrated our kitten in with our 2 adult cats, we put an item with the kitten‘s smell on it next to the adults‘ food bowl so that they associated something positive (eating) with the scent of the new cat. It seemed to help. 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6mo

Megabooks I always recommend giving them plenty of separate spaces and making sure you have at least two litter boxes and separate food and water (often in separate spaces/rooms). Cats normally live fairly separately if left to be feral so sometimes it just takes a bit for them to shake out an order with each other. I‘d say I‘d see jealousy and territoriality in most two cat homes, but most cats also can learn to at least tolerate the other. (edited) 6mo

julesG I found this book very helpful. Galaxy's 'feeding through the door' helped get my cats acclimatise to each other. You put each cat's food bowl (for their "main meal") equidistant to a door that separates them. Each day you move the bowls a bit closer to the door until they are each touching the door. Also, I swapped their blankets a few times so each could get used to the other's scent.

The kitten distribution system got me, y'all! We found this sweet little baby on the side of the road all by herself. And I couldn't bring myself to surrender her to the shelter knowing what I've heard about lower adoption rates for black cats. So anywho... MEET OLIVE! She's so spunky and sweet and has the prettiest green eyes. She's currently in my guest room and building up to an intro with Moxie, who is less enthusiastic about her new sister 😹
