Really good! Hard to put down once you start reading it, this quiet yet powerful story of a young surprised me. Her strength and independence, her intelligence and grit. Loved hearing about these settlers in the territories, though the times were hard and heartbreaking in so many ways. I understand all the love for this book! #BookspinBingo @TheAromaofBooks #roll100 @PuddleJumper
So many people love this book, when that happens I usually end up disappointed because it doesn't live up to the hype. Not this time. I loved it!!
I've been meaning to read this for awhile now, it's been sitting on my shelf for a few years. If the rest of this book is as gripping as the first 20 pages, I won't be able to put it down.

I'm a big fan of stories written through diary entries, especially historical fiction, so this book was right in my wheelhouse. There were a few sections that felt a little slow, but for the most part, this story of a young woman coming of age in the Arizona territory kept me wanting to read more.
This is an Amazon Kindle Deal, on sale for $1.99. Although it is a fictionalized account of one woman‘s life in early America, it reads like a memoir. Wonderful book!!!
So I am just over here adding books to my list and I look over and it looks like she is posing with this book. I haven‘t read it yet but she really seemed excited about that one.
I enjoyed this historical fiction during the late 1800s in Arizona. Life was tough and dangerous. I fell for Sarah. What a complex and strong woman. Western life and romance while raising a family in an unforgiving time. Bring your tissue.
These Is My Words was a ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me on audio! The ebook is on sale today for those who have it on their TBR 😊

A book I really enjoyed (and need to reread, along with the sequels) is a #kindledeal today. 😊
I saw this book on @annebogel site Modern Mrs. Darcy a long time ago and I‘m so glad to finally move it off my TBR and to on my favorite reads list! So, so good.
"...it is like some other part of me made up some rules about happiness and I just went along with them without thinking." This is only one of the many lines in this book to smack me upside the head and make me see life a bit differently ?❤️
"There is nothing more silly than a rooster taking over the world, but every day he thinks he can. I wonder if we are just a little part of the world, like that rooster, and that the real things go on around us while we strut in our yards trying to take charge of things." It's been a while since I've posted. I recently moved to CA & the Boyfriend & I stopped in AZ along the way. I found this book there. It's the only 1 I've wanted to read since ?

Some of my favorite books that start with T!
my favorite #purple book for Day 4 #riotgrams
I find that I recommend this one to people often 😊
It's been a long time since I've read a book that made me feel the way I feel about the main character, Sarah Prine. The hardships of being in a wagon train, bound for, then settling in the AZ Territories in the 1800s, and the stories of family, back-breaking work, joys, and heartbreaks were rich with detail. Sarah Agnus Prine was a badass, and this AZ girl feels a new connection with her birth state and a woman of unbelievable strength. 5 stars.
Excuse me while I GUSH over my #beachinbookswap from @Sydsavvy ❤️❤️ She spoiled the HECK out of me! I am SO excited about a book set in AZ!! There are so few! 1/4
I don't know how much of this book was fact and how much was fiction - but I really enjoyed this story. The main character is a strong woman who faces challenges (mostly) head on - with a little naïveté thrown in for good measure. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This book had me laughing and crying, usually all at once. Elegant story telling. And so true to human nature, even today. Loved it!
"The thirteenth Territorial Legislature, a pit of two headed rattlesnakes if there ever was one, had voted awhile back to allot money for the building of a University right here in Tucson. Of course, they only did it to atone for the shenanigans they pulled with all the illegal pay raises and complementary gratuities they voted in for themselves..."
Human nature. It just never changes.
"I read more of Treasure Island to [Mason], and it pleased him a great deal. It seems to me there are so many lonely people in this world, and so little of life is kind and good."
"The word is all over town that General Crook and his men have rounded up the last Apaches. For that news we are all thankful. Maybe the killing will stop. Surely the Indian folks must want it to stop too. It seems to me that any time there are men making a war, somewhere there are women and children at home waiting and worrying."
"I was sure scared of being alone but I know now that I didn't love Jimmy, and I don't love Ruben, and being alone isn't so bad compared. But then I remember Albert kissing Savannah and her all wrapped up in him, and I never in my life have had nor gave such a kiss, and I truly want to have a feeling like they do, like they are hungry for each other."
"[Savanah and Louisianna] said so many times Oh my, oh my, that I thought I might of stood on my head and sang a song it was so strange to them. Well I lived in the territory all my life and I got four brothers and a girl has got to get along."
I love reading old journals. This entry was about the devastating flood in our area in 1913. "Hurry with the canoe."
Sometimes when I contemplate my TBR, I think about Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally... Whenever he starts a new book, he flips to the end so that if he dies before finishing he'll know how it ends. I wonder how many books on my TBR I'll never read. That's my morbid thought of the days, folks! Happy holidays!

There are no words for how much I love this book and the female lead. I felt completely riveted.
Sarah educated herself, fought off bad people and poisonous snakes, and ran two businesses. She loved people, she lost people. She raised a large family and had a sense of humor. Her thoughts are raw and honest. I can't say enough good things about this story and its secondary cast. It has gone straight to my favorites list and I want to reread ASAP.
"Mama told me to make a special point to remember the best times of my life. There are so many hard things to live through, and latching on to the good things will give you strength to endure, she says. So I must remember this day."
??????
Between making and selling her own soap + raising and selling cows, Sarah has saved $500 in a rusty can in her pantry. She wants to put it in the bank. It is 1887 in the Arizona Territories.
I'm so sad this book is almost over! Nancy Turner writes the most kick-butt female leads. (My Name is Resolute, anyone?) They're so strong and fierce and able. I love Sarah. Love love love her.

Absolutely loved this book!! Was sceptical at first because of the diary format but gave it a chance. So glad I did!! Great read of historical fiction. Such a good story.
When you just can't decide because they all sound so interesting...
This is a great work of historical fiction. Love, love, loved it!
This was just the most perfect read for me. Sprawling portrayal of pioneer life, fierce heroine, swoony romance. I did this one in audio, so I can't speak to the storytelling approach of having her writing ability improve over the course of the book. I'll read books 2 and 3! #audiobook
❤️😍❤️ #audiobook
Ahh, I'm absolutely loving this book and desperately wish I could listen to it all day rather than work. I'm only on July 5, 1885 so I still have a ways to go. Which is also good because I don't want it to end! Thankfully I know there are two more books in the series 📚 Currently, Sarah is being silly and not admitting something we have all figured out long ago...but I am eating it up ☺️ #audiobook
Just started this on audio. Been meaning to read Turner for so long, I'm excited to dive in! #audiobook
Excellent and compelling historical fiction. This is the first in a series. All of them are excellent books!
