October 8 #WordSearchPhotoChallenge Vampire @StayCurious #Scarsthlon2022 #TeamMonsterMash
I might have read this one a little close to the first one. This one also had a lot more zombies and I don‘t like zombies lol. Overall, I‘ll continue listening to these books for now.
April 2021 - reread - I forgot how much I like certain characters and the silliness of this installment
I saw this comic, and it spoke to me. As you can see, both of my dogs like to lay on me when I'm reading 🤣
#dogsoflitsy
I really do love this old school pulp style detective novel, set is a world with vampires, zombies and all sorts of night time nasties and this one had it all. Anita Blake is a pocket rocket of kick arseness that beggars belief. Can't wait to get to the rest of the series. 4/5 Stars.
That‘s book #2 complete! Something came from not having power for like 3 hours tonight. I love when my partner reads to me 😁
I started this series forever ago but never finished it and I've had a bit of an urban fantasy vibe lately so I'm dipping back in! A book and this amazing smelling bath bomb from @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego are just what I need tonight. Happy Saturday!
I love to read this series as print books, but the audio read by Kimberley Alexis is a great way to read when your eyes are tired. I‘ve been reading this series since they were first released, it‘s gone downhill lately, but the first ten or so books are the best. Before it became all about sex. Not that I‘m against sex....Anyway, another mystery down for #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 11points #PointsTotal-1,555
Wow, I just passed out for over 12hrs. Guess I was tired! My eyes are giving me a bit of trouble along with a headache so I‘m listening to the 2nd audiobook in the Anita Blake series. A monster mystery is just what I need to wake me up. How did everyone go in the readathons this weekend? I hope we made #TeamSlaughter a whole lotta points🙌 #Scarathlon 1point #PointsTotal-1,520
#ChillingPhotoChallenge #day21 #Voodoo Anita Blake,as well as being a vampire executioner,is also an animator, raising zombies for lawyers & family of the dead. She‘s approached by Harold Gaynor who asks her to raise a 300yr old corpse,to do so she‘d need to use a human sacrifice. When she says no,she crosses paths with Voodoo queen Dominga Salvador who sends flesh eating zombies after her. #Scareathlon #TeamSlaughter 1point #PointsTotal-1,080
#chillingphotochallenge #scarathlon day 21 Anita Blake dabbles in #voodoo when raising the dead, but this particular novel deals with a whole lot more than usual.
#teamslaughter @Clwojick
I thought this was a really good book. Its been a while since I read the first book but Ms. Hamilton made it very easy to jump back into the Anita Blake storyline. In this book there are very gruesome (and yes the detail in the book described the killings very very clearly) murders happening and Anita thinks it has to do with the supernatural. No surprises ... I figured out who was behind it all and the ending was good. 3 stars
My pile for the #scarathlon. Some of these will be good for the #scaryscavsbgerhunt. I did not know It was such a gigantic book. I also have a few audiobooks and ebooks to aid in my goals. Let‘s go #teamstoker 🧙🏽♀️👻🧛🏽♀️🧟♀️

Do corpses laugh? Hmmm...🤔
These books are great. They a smart, funny and a cracking good read. Vampires, zombies and black magic what more could you want. This is my new go to series.

I've lost count on how many times I've reread Anita over the years but Kimberly Alexis does a great job on the audio!
Loved it 😍 devoured it even! This series was so good!!! I think this might be my favourite cover for the book. It suits it the most. I like to change the book cover on my app to one I like ☺️
Straight into The Laughing Corpse after finishing Guilty Pleasures. Really enjoying rereading the series, the books are just as good as the first time I read them! I'm not sure how far I'll get with them....I stopped reading the series around book 15 but i doubt I'll get that far this time.
“A choice of monsters.” Action packed. Anita has to fight zombies, a voodoo priestess & several regular bad guys. 🗡🗡🗡🗡 #urbanfantasy
Oh wow this was sooo much better then the first one!! I'm mad that I can't listen to the next one on Otto because I'm out of credits. >_>
Hopefully this will be fast read. I need some paranormal right now.
Although I'm not taking part in #secretsanta atm, I thought I'd clean up my Goodreads TBR anyway. Think it's obvious which book app I prefer! I have more than 55 books on my Kindle but I've decided to add them once I have read them. Will update Litsy with my Goodreads recommendations tomorrow (some cross over!)
As I read more and more I've realized that I like two things Urban fantasy and series. I get attached to characters and miss them when a series is done. Lucky for me there are a billion series to get lost in.
I feel like a damn champion.
Somewhat organized my little corner of the room! I really really need a lamp as my reading light keeps going dead on me!
😂😂😂
This is how Sparrow's review of The Laughing Corpse (on Goodreads) begins. It made me chuckle out loud 😏
I didn't hate this book quite as much as she did, but I too gave it ⭐️⭐️because Anita is really obnoxious and full of herself here, and this much violence without some fun doesn't exactly encourage one to want to read more. Luckily I know it's going to get better and have some more appealing characters soon 😉
I think that if she, like me, had read further along in the series and knew that this wasn't an idle threat, she'd be a lot more scared 😨
it dragged a bit in the beginning but the ending was good. wasn't it expecting to end that way and I'm loving that she's developing her powers more in the book.
The Laughing Corpse—the second installment of the Anita Blake series—is a gruesome one. Laurell pushed the envelope with her monsters and their victims. The whole thing throws the reader into an entertaining whirlwind. I had a hard time stopping the audiobook to deal with the real world (even though this was a reread for me).
Anita kicks ass and Jean-Claude just keeps weaseling his way into the story and Anita's life (and my heart, again, ha!).
Today's #augustofpages is romance novels. I'm not generally a romance reader, and haven't been for 20+ years. So my shelves are bare in this regard. These are the closest I come - paranormal romance - before Hamilton jumped the shark in the series. #bookphotochallenge #spinecrackersbookclub
