This is a soft pick about a girl named Maya who is kidnapped and kept in a garden with several other young girls for the express pleasure of the “Gardener”. Maya‘s story is revealed bit by bit and it is disturbing, but somehow it was sort of ‘meh‘ too. You have to suspend a little bit of disbelief, for sure.
A gripping morbid tale of kidnapped survivor and her dark memories of the garden. I loved the story but the story telling style was a bit too confusing for me. Trigger warning: contains sexual assault, children
This was good. Disturbing, but good. Although the ending was a little odd and unbelievable.
Near an isolated mansion lies a beautiful garden.
In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees... and a collection of precious “butterflies” —young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes.
I finished this a couple weeks ago. This book was so insane I couldn‘t stop reading. Highly recommend. Be wary, it‘s disturbing at times.

@CindyMyLifeIsLit here are your choices for #trappedonanisland. I loved The Butterfly Garden and recently read Just Like Home which is why I chose them. The other books just sounded fun and I liked their covers. Happy reading!

Haven‘t posted here in awhile. Starting this one tonight after it‘s been highly recommended in some facebook book groups I follow. #thebutterflygarden #dothutchison #kindleunlimited #ebook
Welcome to the Butterfly Garden where everything is calm and peaceful. The Gardener has done his best to make everything perfect for his collection of butterflies, a place where they can live and thrive until they go into their display case to be forever remembered for the beautiful women they used to be… but who were they before they came to the Butterfly Garden and what happens when the living butterflies try to escape? Recommend!

From the Publisher:
In this garden grow luscious flowers, shady trees…and a collection of precious “butterflies”— young women who have been kidnapped and intricately tattooed to resemble their namesakes. Overseeing it all is the Gardener, a brutal, twisted man obsessed with capturing and preserving his lovely specimens.

The snow has started falling so what better time than to dive into a new book.
Today‘s #LittensDressedinBlood prompt:
“He did it”
Had to pick one that doesn‘t spoil anything. So this one fits! Fun horror/thriller with twisted serial killer.
The whole premise of this book didn‘t make sense on so many levels. There are so many fundamental problems with the reactions and behaviors of the characters. With this being said.... I couldn‘t stop reading it and enjoyed it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Day 21 #MayCharacters
Prompt: Malicious
The Gardener kidnaps young girls, tattoos butterflies on their backs, and keeps them in his "garden" to use for his pleasure. He is seriously twisted and wants to preserve their beauty.

So, my kid convinced me to get a kindle, not hard, but definitely not needed.
This book looks decidedly warped enough to be the first read.
I use kindle constantly to read trashy novels I never share. But, usually they are on my ipad which is just too big.

Immediately wanted to read the next book as I finished this one!!
The story was compelling and the villain unlike any I had read. Depraved but without the self awareness to realize it. The story was told in a series of flashbacks by one of the victims. At times this format was a bit jarring. I was feeling immersed in the story, and then suddenly we are back in the interrogation room. The way the FBI tries to implicate Maya in the crime, when she is clearly a victim, didn't sit right with me. 4 out of 5 stars.
Just before I go get some sleep, I thought I‘d share this picture I just took of my butterfly bush in bloom. I‘m pretty sure it‘s a Buddleja “ Autumn Beauty” as it‘s a month into autumn here in Australia, either way it‘s a gorgeous plant that attracts honeybees & butterflies to my garden & smells like flowery honey. What‘s blooming in your part of the world? #isolationinteractions #keeplitsypositive #flowersoflitsy
It wasn't what I expected initially, but a good read. I will read the next in the series.
Really good and fast paced! It was a great read and now I am on to book two of the series😊
This was a fantastic book that kept a hold on my imagination even when I had to stop reading it, which wasn't very often. There are lots of twists and I honestly didn't see the end coming. Great book, looking forward to reading the others
This book was pretty good! I enjoyed it through put the book and definitely kept my interest. I would recommend reading this book if you are into mystery/suspense. The ending is a little predictable and I didn't really like the ending either. But the rest of the book was great!
Somehow this book is pretty much illogical. Like why cant they do anything? There‘s a group of girl versus one old man and they have so many chances to kill him even without a weapon bah. But they don‘t and macam pasrah ajak with whatever that comes to them. Come on girls! Take whatever in front of you and smash that psycho till his brain splash out

From the first page to the last I was engaged 100% I‘ve read a lot of negative reviews regarding the “twist” at the end being a let down. If you‘re the type of person who only reads stories with huge twists at the end, this book is not for you. I felt like Dot Hutchinson laid everything important on the table at the very beginning, and added a small twist for those who crave it. It would‘ve been much better without it, but it was still amazing.
I love Joseph-Beth Bookstore so, so much ❤️🦋 Also... excited to read this one! “The Butterfly Garden” by Dot Hutchison.
1. Chocolate. Which usually leads to wanting chips. Then back to chocolate ?
2. I enjoy listening to them, I just don't do it enough.
3. Thanksgiving dinner! And I'm going to make a "thankful" book stack to read through.
4. I actually didn't have any candy, but I did eat 2 cupcakes ?
5. Blue is my favorite, but I love all kinds of bright colors.

Today, in all the rain and wind, my honey and I finally tied the knot. It was a sweet, amazing day 😊 Happy Halloween!!
I struggled between being really intrigued via morbid curiosity and disliking it due to frustrations with some plot holes.
I appreciated a lot of the character development, but I didn't like how literally every action of every chatacter was so improbable. However, self-reflecting on the fact that I've never been kidnapped, held captive, tortured, and raped by a family of men allowed me to keep an open mind and enjoy the story.
🦋The Butterfly Garden🦋
It‘s truly a story that you won‘t forget easily. My one of my favorite quotes from the book is this “I think a trauma doesn‘t stop just because you‘ve been rescued.” Dot shows what it‘s truly like to be a survivor with the feelings and insecurities that comes with it. She put a very personal and inside view of what a survivor of abuse feels and the thought process behind it.

Wow. Just... wow. This book surprised me. It will be added to my list of all time favorites! The beauty described against the darkness is astounding. A girl emerges from a beautiful prison to tell her story. The way it‘s written is perfect. I loved hearing it as an interview of a witness which I think is such a fresh telling of a thriller. 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋
This was sitting on my Kindle for far too long. It was great! Not life-changing or genre-expanding, but a solid read from start to finish. You can polish this off in a day if you like.
If you‘re interested in this, don‘t put it off - you‘ll be sorry you did.
LOVED.... just got the other two... one? I dunno... I just can't get enough of that way Dot Hutchison writes
This wasn‘t very believable. I got the impression I was reading someone‘s poorly edited and terribly lame fantasy, without much thought about plausibility or research.
I enjoyed this very much. The plot is disturbing but I didnt feel like it was excessively graphic like some other thrillers I have read. I enjoyed the way the story was told - you know the outcome from the first page but the telling of the events leading up to that will have you hooked. And a twist at the end that I didn't see coming! Already downloaded the next book, planning to read it immediately!
Grabbed this on a Kindle deal. I remember a lot of hype about this book when it first came out! Has anyone read this?
I love this audiobook, but it was deeply disturbing, so I do not recommend listening to this with the windows down.
It was okay. Nothing I‘d recommend to friends but a decent story. I was hoping for a little bit more of a twist at the end and the ending wasn‘t too satisfying. Overall I‘d give it 3.5 ⭐️ Not horrible but not great either.
Knocked this book off my TBR today. Also went to CrossFit. Feeling pretty good! Now time to relax with a glass of chardonnay and read some Raisin in the Sun. #bookfitnesschallenge #BFC
