Good creature feature in a remote setting. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another okay book that‘s a bit slow, but it has one of those endings that really piss me off. 😡

The Adler twins gather with their closest friends for one last snowboarding-filled holiday. While commitment-phobic Ryan gazes longingly at Lauren, wondering if his playboy days are over, Jane‘s hopes of reconciling with her old boyfriend evaporate when he brings along his new fiancée. As drama builds among the friends, something lurks in the forest, watching the cabin, growing ever bolder as the snow falls…and hunger rises.

A group of young people in very secluded cabin in the Colorado mountains. “They only come when it snows…” It‘s bleak from the very beginning, a la Ania Ahlborn. I loved it.

The author took her time developing the characters over the entire first half so that by the time things picked up, I was well invested in their survival. There are a lot of bloody snow scenes in this one and the second half was fast paced. Thanks for the great rec @Reggie!

Well what a bloodbath this was. It was more gory than I expected yet the story itself was creepy and had me hooked. The plot is a pretty quick build to a brilliant ending. #Scarathlon #BuddyRead Chapter 13 The Shuddering After getting Sawyer into the cottage, they've realized his wounds are quite extensive. Ryan takes the shovel and heats it up to cauterize the wound.I think Ryan did a good job in thinking about this and thinking about getting out of there. So they leave knowing the creatures will be following.They get halfway and think they better stop and make a shelter. I also like how Ryan uses the hair spray.

Jane tells them they need to leave. But what if April comes back. She tells them they can't come back once they leave. They have to chop the furniture so they have firewood to burn. Both boys feel guilty for the loss of the two girls. 👇

The creature seems to be intelligent . It attacks, and Oona attacks it to protect Ryan. (I'M cringing at this point) Then Jane finds the gun and shoots it. Jane has a plan as they come to realization that it ransacked the kitchen and ate all the food. 👇

Jane has a moment of panic thinking Ryan is on the deck outside when the boys stop her from opening the door outside. They all see the creature run and claw the window and then jump over the railing. They don't have a clue on what to do. Their firewood is running out. They have little food left. Are they going to die here?

Part 2. Ryan decides to go look for April. He convinces Sawyer to stay put to avoid fighting with April. Jane is told to talk to Sawyer about how she really feels. April, see something outside and the boys investigate, but it's too far to tell what it might be. There are sounds on the roof in April & Sayers' room. Is it raccoons? Then April & Sawyer have a big fight. Ryan also here's noise on the roof. Everyone seems to know about April's fight with Sawyer.

Ryan can't figure out the reason for his dog's behavior. Lauren suspects something is out there. Jane hears a noise outside and thinks it's the dog when the Husky comes into the room. So, she wasn't out, so it dawned on her that it wasn't Oona.👇

Finished this one last night. I'd say this was a quick listen for sure. Very entertaining. I'm not sure why, but it very much reminded me of Devolution by Max Brooks at times.

🎧 Creepy! Movie material. A little short. A couple plot holes could‘ve been filled with more words. Characters were well developed & the location was described in enough detail to clearly imagine it.

I wish the monsters were a little more defined. Who & what were they. If they had 4-6 more people then more of the monster‘s traits could‘ve been developed.

A scary fun time! I listened in 1 sitting. Luke Daniels was a great narrator.

We recently got a big dump of snow, so what better time to read a wintery, creature horror. This was so good, I had some serious anxiety during parts of this read. A group of friends head to the mountains for some fun,only to be snowed in by a blizzard. With the snow come the creatures. ❄️

This book was okay. It took a minute to gain my interest but got better once things started to pop off. The main reason why I'm giving this book a lesser rating because it read very YA. These are suppose to be adults and they all acted like teenagers with their emotions and decisions. They bothered me because I'm not into most YA. I think that's also why I didn't like Brother as much either. 3/5

I liked this book even though it was pretty predictable but there were a few moments where it got my heart racing. I did not care much for the ending but it was still fun getting there.

This was an entertaining and edge of your seat horror novel. Very much traditional stranded in the woods horror, but it kept me reading. Though nothing especially new here, if you are looking for a good scare I recommend. 3.5⭐️

OMG it‘s so good.

Absolutely brutal and gory and scary… I could only do audiowalks in broad daylight with this one. This is a monster story done right, and by right I mean I finished it 2 weeks ago and I‘m still thinking about two scenes in particular that made me 😲🤢😵.

This should be a movie, which I won‘t watch because it will be too scary.

1. I love zombies, but they‘re rather limited and predictable. I think I‘m going to go with vampires! 🧛🏻‍♀️
2. The tagged book REALLY stuck with me for a long time!
3. I love ghost stories so am always looking for good ones. I also like stories with nontraditional monsters, such as the tagged book. Basically, I love ANY well-written horror story!

Ania Ahlborn never fails to bring the horror. This one started a little slow but then I was hooked! What are these blood-thirsty creatures that are terrorizing the snow-filled mountains and its inhabitants? And who will survive them? Another great story by Ania!
