This book was the second in the series, and I hadn‘t read the first. But I didn‘t need to, and this book was perfect (ha!). Seriously, I loved the characters. The banter, the development, the romance was cute and fun. I had some real lol moments and just was smiling like a fool when I finished. Loved this one

Finally finished this one up today and meh. Maybe my mood lately just hasn‘t been right for this book, but as interesting as it sounded, it was less so. I‘m not sure I was a fan of the writing style and the author put snippets of the book with the “stolen” plot in question in between chapters. Not a favorite of mine, and the twist towards the end couldn‘t push it to a pick for me

I had picked this up for a breezy beach read and while I didn‘t finish it on vacation, I enjoyed this a lot! The characters were great! The male lead dreamy. It did have some heavy moments to it I wasn‘t expecting that honestly hit a little close to home which made me lose a touch of the escapism. But I still loved it and while I‘ve always wanted to go to Ireland, this made me want to even more

My kitty Rory in her favorite spot as I finished up this one. I‘ve been a fan of Alton for years and I found a lot of his essays interesting. He made some great points with stuff while also giving a little peek behind the curtain to some of the projects he worked on. I definitely enjoyed this

Finished the 5th book in the Percy Jackson series. I really enjoyed it. Always a nice, easy read that‘s fun. Also, some of you may recall I lost my kitty back in March. A little over a week ago I adopted a new fur baby. Meet Aurora (“Rory”) - she‘s pretty shy and still skittish at times but she‘s warming up nicely

It‘s that time of the year - March Madness and reading. I always get so much read while having the games on in the background. I‘d picked this up as my mom continues to explore the more holistic approach to cancer treatment. I thought a lot of what he said was interesting but I think the chapter on faith could be problematic for some. I appreciate his messages of forgiveness and that was his experience but he shouldn‘t have pushed God so much

Went to a book signing today for the tagged book with my parents. I can‘t wait to read it! I‘ve been a fan of Alton Brown‘s for years and it was so fun to meet him. He was super nice!

My Sammy crossed the rainbow bridge today. After a couple rough days, decided it was time. Poor guy had two tumors in his lungs and hadn‘t been eating much lately before stopping entirely yesterday. Two months shy of his 17th birthday. I‘m gonna miss my reading buddy. So heartbroken but hoping he‘s at peace now

This was another #buddyread with my bestie. The first in a trilogy about two friends. This first book was about their childhood and growing up together. Overall, it was a soft pick for me. The characters were fleshed out well and unique, but there truly wasn‘t as much in the way of friendship for the girls as I expected

Did a #buddyread with my bestie for this one. We haven‘t discussed it in its entirety yet but I‘m kinda disappointed how this turned out. We‘d read Fourth Wing and weren‘t fans, but thought this might be better. I liked most of the characters much better, but the general plot and narrative was lacking so much depth. I think the ideas were mostly great but the author didn‘t go deep enough. Didn‘t feel much suspense/drama

A soft pick for me. The afterword explained the author‘s choice in the way she structured the story which made total sense. I just like books that are a bit more linear. I‘ll never understand why books get banned - always great to expose yourself to different lives/experiences that your own and open yourself up to conversation

My mom recently received a diagnosis just before Thanksgiving of Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Stage 3. She waited on test results before making a decision on treatment, which she‘s still trying to decide. We‘ve been gathering info and I gave her a few books to read while I read this one. It has a lot of fascinating info on alternative methods of care. Some stuff is maybe a little out there but it‘s hard to refute some of the stuff he cites

Finished the January buddy read of the #MidwinterSolace and I did read at a much slower pace. Just a chapter a day so I could reflect a bit on what I was reading. Quite a few things struck me and resonated. I even took a picture of one of the quotes to send to my parents as it reminded me of them - the one about putting your wealth in other people. I‘ll definitely try to keep the things I learned in mind

This was a reread and it was just as enjoyable as the first time. Finished it before my cold amped up to include a fever 🤒 Staying in for NYE isn‘t unusual for me but it would be nicer if I wasn‘t fighting off whatever this thing is

I was pretty excited about this one, and I liked it fine but not as much as I hoped. I feel like the story jumped in logic in weird places - I can‘t explain it but something felt off with the writing at times which I think took me out of it. Did have some spooky vibes for sure though
