Lisa Jewell never disappoints. Another solid slow burn thriller. A girl and her boyfriend mysteriously disappear one evening and a year later, clues to their disappearance start to appear. I really didn‘t have this one figured out till the end and there was still a surprise at the end that I totally didn‘t read into or have on my radar.

A generic thriller, did not disappoint but there some minor inconsistencies which bugged me!

For some reason all the mystery/thrillers I pick this year are slow burns and have similar endings. Weird...

I've come to think of Jewell as my comfort read. Whenever I don't know what I'm in the mood for, or can't find a book that holds my attention; I can pickup one of her books and be content.

This was a soft pick because it took a bit for me to really feel invested for some reason. It really took me WAY too long to read. Don't you hate when that happens?.... I was still mixing up characters at the end too. After a while the side characters were almost too many people to worry about. That can pull attention away from a good plot. Boo. The ending was interesting. So more than a meh...less than a yay.

A very entertaining mystery about a cozy mystery author who becomes the key to unlocking the mystery of a missing couple. Very entertaining and not terribly dark with lots of twists and turns. A good summer read! 4⭐️

My TBR is driving me crazy. I‘m talking about books that I already own but haven‘t read yet. I hesitate to even say how many because it‘s an obscene amount. So for the rest of April, I am going to concentrate on 2 books that I have already started, 1 book for #LMPBC, and 6 audiobooks that I purchased on #Chirp. Moving forward, I would like to tackle the #KindleUnlimited books that I‘ve download. Being this disorganized makes my brain itch. 🧠

The Stranger in the Lifeboat is about the flaws of humanity and survival which led to Ordinary Human Failings about a teenage mom and a missing child. Not a great connection between the two after all is said, and done. The next book will be The Night She Disappeared which is also about a teenage mom and a missing person. I think it will be much less of an obscure connection.

Not my favorite Lisa Jewell book. The middle drug and the ending was unrealistic and unbelievable, to me at least.

Another solid Lisa Jewell thriller. I fly through her books every time!

Lisa Jewell just gets better. I felt myself rushing to read the page just to be able to find out what was going to happen next. Really felt for Owen where everything just went so wrong. There was just so much depth to this story. It was one of those books where you don‘t want the end to come as you want to see how life continues

Lisa Jewell is a pretty consistent pick for me. I‘m looking forward to starting this one.

My first Lisa Jewell book and I really enjoyed it, plenty of twists to keep you guessing what was really going on, kept me engaged and wanting to find out, a page turner!

My first Lisa Jewell book, but certainly not my last.

This was packed with twists and turns. Just when you think you've sussed it, something else is thrown into the plot. I thought I'd cracked it about 1/3 of the way through, but I was wrong! ? even the epilogue included a twist. 4.5⭐️

The moral of the story - if you see a sign in the woods saying "dig here"... don't. It's probably not part of an Easter egg hunt ?

I love Lisa Jewell! This one about 2 missing teenagers did not disappoint. Very twisty and I loved the ending!

Two 19 year olds disappear after attending a pool party with local teens. The case goes cold and no leads are found until a detective writer finds a mysterious sign saying “dig here” which brings new leads to the investigation. This book explores how manipulative relationships come in different forms, all claiming love, but actually thinly veiled attempts for control.

I picked this book back up after sidelining it November 2022. I didn‘t think it was going to capture my interest, but having read over 200 pages in a day in a half, it has its claws in me and I‘m LOVING it.

Picked up this one up after I started it back in Nov. 2022… I‘m struggling to be invested. Is it worth the read??

Oooh this was a lot of fun and kept me guessing. I felt so bad for Tallulah. Great pick for #LMPBC :)

This was only the 2nd Novel ive read by Lisa Jewell so i kind of knew what to expect even tho each of her novels seems to be different from the last but i have to say i really enjoyed this one more then i thought i would. The Characters were fun and interesting to read about. Kim was definately my favorite with her determination to find out where her daughter, Tallulah went.

2017: 19 year old Tallulah is going out on a date, leaving her baby with her mother, Kim. Kim watches her daughter leave and, as late evening turns into night, which turns into early morning, she waits for her return.

And waits.The next morning, Kim phones Tallulah's friends who tell her that Tallulah was last seen heading to a party at a house in the nearby woods called Dark Place.

She never returns.

This is a interesting book, I am not sure why it took me so long to finish it (well I do know, one word: accident) I enjoyed it and kept me gripped through the whole thing.

My January #Roll100 selection and first completed read for 2023. This was a mystery I was intrigued by from the onset, and I enjoyed seeing the timelines come together. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was so much fun! After slogging through Leech, this was like a breath of fresh air. A disappearance, possible murder, clues and twists…I absolutely recommend!

I definitely liked this book a lot. I liked the timelines and how they flowed together to the end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

“Maybe if Brianna brings a friend on this cruise, she won‘t spend so much time reading.” - my mother, incorrect. Thanksgiving break was fun! I have to say that the shift in POV and time period in this book took some getting used to, but I liked the twists the writer threw in.

This book is riveting from start to finish. 2017: Tallulah is going out, leaving her precious Noah with her mum (Kim). Kim watches her daughter leave and waits for her return the next day.
2019: Sophie is walking in the woods nearby to her new cottage, she finds a note fixed to a tree ‘Dig here‘
A cold case, abandoned mansion, dark secrets and
with a strong emotionally compelling mother/ daughter love story at its core.

The dual timeline was separated by just two years but it worked well in this story. The story was well written and kept up a good pace. I listened to the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. Jewell has become a go to author for me.

Amazing mystery. Marvelous addiction

I couldn't WAIT to get my hands on this after I saw it all over instagram. I am glad I followed the reading recommendation because I was instantly hooked. It sucks you in from the very beginning, unravels throughout, and leaves you wanting more!

This may be the shortest space of time (2 years) in a dual timeline book that I‘ve ever read and I thought It was very effective. I found myself anxious to know the fate of Tallulah, and I really wanted Kim to find her.

Just finished this one. It was good. A bit predictable and the characters didn‘t have much depth. Worth the time though is you are looking for a mystery.

My first book by this author, chosen for our next book club. I really enjoyed it. Well written with good characters and a believable plot

Love it when you complete your Goodreads challenge with a truly phenomenal book! Lisa Jewell is quickly becoming a must read author for me.

I truly never have anything negative to say about Jewell's writing. Like her other novels, this one was well planned out, and kept me guessing the whole way through.

A combination of family/couple drama, related with a boarding school, character looking for her life identity and independence. So good. The audiobook was excellent. Many unlikely characters, many perspectives but so well integrated. Even when some twists were predictable to me I was wrong in The Who did it. Fast read. 3.8/4⭐️ The gifts in this subscription box for this were practical. I liked them.

Another really good read from Lisa Jewell, this was quite a simple theme, but quite complex in actuality and with different timelines. I did it as an audiobook but do feel it would have been better as a physical read to keep the different timelines and multitude of characters straight. Some good twists as you‘d expect along the way. Quite a big and long book.
