So fun to return to the Grishaverse! I didn‘t love it the same way I loved the Six of Crows duology, but it‘s better than the Shadow and Bones books in my opinion. There aren‘t really any new characters, but why do you need them when the existing cast is this entertaining?
I‘m also so proud to have finished my first book after having a baby a few weeks ago!! I‘ve just gotten comfortable enough to read while nursing/napping 😊
King Nicholai is trying to remove his demon, but yet prepare Rafka for the war he feels encroaching even as he attempts to prevent it. Interestingly, many of the characters learn to face their own demons as the battle of good and evil continues. While Nicholai is searching for answers, Isaac is asked to step in to planned festivities on his behalf. And I hate the very end, but must now read the next book.
#DynamicDs day 30: One of my favorite #Duo(logy). My review of both books here - one of my faves from the Grishaverse: https://wp.me/pDlzr-nuD
The biggest draw to the “King of Scars“ - Audiobook is its captivating storyline.
Leigh Bardugo is a storyteller, and she has a gift for creating intricate plots filled with complex and fleshed out characters that keep you engaged....

I couldn't get into this one. It took until ¾ in for me to find it exciting. Nina's story was gripping, Nikolai & Zoya only got interesting towards the end. It did feel a bit anticlimactic to spend the whole book trying to fight the demon only to leave the Fold with it still there. Genya & David's characters seemed very different from the original trilogy, too; David was more aggressive & Genya seemed more delicate & less formidable.
My noodle supervisor, Linguini, says it‘s time for cuddles and reading. #kingofscars #leighbardugo #hardcover #library #cat #orangecat #bookcat
This book kept my attention so well. I loved going between the stories (even if it was hard to have a pause on one story to continue the other). AND THAT ENDING?! I couldn‘t believe & I can‘t believe it‘s not over. Part of me is grieving the fact that the end of my journey to the Grishaverse is coming to an end while the other part is ecstatic that I‘ve been able to see so many different parts of this world. I can‘t wait to see how it ends.
Finished it and loved it! Glad I already bought the sequel so I can carry straight on with it, I need to know what happens next!
Definitely did not expect the plot twist that this ending had in store!
Strangely, I've been able to get some reading time in while looking after my baby nephew. 😮 After months of being in a reading slump, I find myself looking for a book to read every time I'm free lately. 😌
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ only reason 4 stars is because I did find myself wanting to skip some of the POV chapters to get back to Nikolai and Zoya. And can I just say I ❤️❤️❤️ Nikolai and really hope they get him right in the second season of Shadow and Bone. It was nice catching up with my Nina❤️ and I love all the mentions of the Crows. You can really tell they are the authors favorite characters too.
Currently reading King of scars by Leigh Bardugo.
I have read all her books including the latest Hellbent and Ninth House. Nikolai‘s duology were the only ones not read yet. And since Shadow and Bone season 2 releases 16th March, i thought I might as well update myself on Nikolai‘s story.

Ultimately, I ended up liking this but it took a while. I felt like the beginning was really slow and I nearly gave up but I had to find out what happens with Nina so I kept with it. I enjoyed the second part of the book a lot more. I especially liked Isaak‘s chapters as well as Nina‘s which was surprising considering Nikolai was one of my favourite characters in the original trilogy.
Today hasn‘t really gone to plan but at least I‘ve found myself reading in two different libraries so I‘ll count that as a win! I‘m finally trying to make some progress in the tagged book but it‘s slow going.
This is my year of reading Grishaverse! The first book in the Nikolai duology was fun, plus it was great to have POV from Nina and Zoya. I already liked Nikolai but this book gave him more depth and nuance and made him more interesting. Nina‘s storyline felt a little disconnected from the rest, but it made for enjoyable spy-themed B plot.

My favorite book beginning with the letter "K" is King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo. Two other books are worth mentioning: Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas and The King by J. R. Ward.

It felt so good to be back in the Grishaverse! I do miss my boyfriend Kaz though. He was mentioned, which is nice!
Our backyard oasis is almost complete! Pool filled and was ready for swimming Saturday. So relaxing, can‘t wait or the landscaping to be complete. This will be my new favorite reading spot and where you will find me all summer. 📖 ☀️ 🍹

1. Yes? After reading there are a lot of little details in the cover that reflect back to the story.
2. Yes I am far too influenced by the cover.
This was a fun continuation of the grishaverse. It had a slow start, but the last third had me hooked. I would put this on par with the original trilogy, but not as good as The Crows duology. I look forward to the next book. 4⭐️

So of course this was great … I love the attitudes of the characters it is always a great fun read when Leigh Bardugo is involved 🤨📖🤗
Guess where I spent the day reading and enjoying the beautiful view 🤗📖
Starting this as the second one is in the mail I‘ve waited so I could read them both together 📖🤨
Actually listened to the Audiobook while cleaning for Thanksgiving. My friend loaned me her print copy which was nice so I could refer to map.
I miss the Gang from 6 of Crows. They did get a mention: "She wished she had Inej‘s gift for spywork or Kaz‘s gift for scheming, but she only seemed to have Jesper‘s gift for bad decisions."
But this was quite the adventure. What an ending! ?
I‘m enjoying this series but the last three books in the series are the best, at least for me. This particular one was a little slow at the beginning but last half part was full of action, twists and with funny parts as always. I‘m still love more Nina parts/story. It is a fantasy with “witches” and “monsters” but I think is an amazing YA story.
This edition has gold sprayed edges😍
This next book in Leigh Bardugo‘s series didn‘t disappoint. It‘s good to be back with many old characters from Shadow and Bone, especially Nikolai and the crew. The character development is 👌🏽 More importantly, I‘m excited to see Zoya find her path as a Grisha.
The only downside is I felt the story dragged in Nina Zenik‘s perspective. Maybe it‘s nostalgia but I had to stop myself from skipping them.
Rating: 4/5
I liked this book almost as much as I liked Six of Crows. As much as I liked the Shadow and Bone trilogy these last 2 duologies feel so much richer in character development and story. I loved all of the different storylines and how they worked together. I'm excited for the second book to see how it all ends.
#ConflictedWorlds Day 3: #PersonVsSelf with Nikolai battling his inner monster. How comforting to slip into the casual bantering between Nikolai and Zoya once again, to finally learn what it means to be right smack in the middle of the making at the heart of the world, the nature of amplifiers (this was just so brilliantly conceived), to have gods come alive and direct the fate of humankind (Grisha and non-Grisha alike). https://wp.me/pDlzr-nuD
I loved the theme of accepting the good and bad parts of yourself. The writing was so much better than the original trilogy. And I was excited to see Nina again.
Overall, I feel like we didn‘t get enough time with the characters. I also didn‘t like the way the plot was going towards the end. Without spoilers, all I will say is that they are calling to something in the original trilogy instead of bringing in a unique roadblock. .
I just finished it & all I can say is OH MY GOD! I'm shook you guys! Now I'm about to get into the next one.
Let‘s be honest. Everyone loves either Nikolai or Kaz or both. Excited to finally start this duology.

I pick King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo. I'm coming close to the end of Crooked Kingdom & I'm dying to start this one! 👑🖤🤴🛡💰🕌
One of my favorite exchanges in the whole Grishaverse 🖤🫐 #zoya
Finishing out this gloomy Memorial Day weekend with a #bookandbath. I was trying to finish up this book over the weekend, but it‘s 8 pm and I‘m still only at 65%, so that doesn‘t seem likely before I need to go to sleep. Still going to enjoy a relaxing bath to soothe my bad back and enjoy this book.
With a move and a job change, it took me way longer than necessary to finish this. I didn‘t love it as much as some of her previous books, but I will definitely read the next one🤷🏻♀️
#MayCharacters Day 26: Quite a few #merciless characters here TBH. Absolutely loved it. Such a treat to visit Grishaverse again.
