Excited for #auldlangspine2025!

Is it overkill to check out all these now? Yes. But it feeds my winter hoarding impulse, so I went with it.

I might (will) have to cheat and start Frozen River before Jan 1, because it has a list of holds. (I‘m honestly surprised I got it already.) I figure this is allowable because ~technically~ it wasn‘t on your official #auldlangspine list 😉

monalyisha I totally didn‘t see this. Or, I did. I just didn‘t see the part about Frozen River. Wait, what was I talking about? My mind is suddenly cloudy… 1w
TheKidUpstairs Great stack! 1w

CBee @CSeydel this stack brings back such good memories *sigh* I don‘t think it‘s overkill and agree wholeheartedly with you starting Frozen River asap 😁 1w
Lesliereadsalot Great list! I loved Forgotten on Sunday. 1w
CSeydel @cbee just realized I left off Great Believers … will have to retake the photo when I get home 🤦🏻‍♀️ 1w
CSeydel @Lesliereadsalot it looks so good! 1w
CBee @Lesliereadsalot have you read Fresh Water for Flowers? That one could be a favorite of all time for me ♥️ 1w
CBee @CSeydel you‘ve got some good reading ahead 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 1w
Lesliereadsalot I have read Fresh Water for Flowers and loved it. Also loved her book “Three”. That one had some real twists! 1w
CBee @Lesliereadsalot I have that one and hope to get to it next year (finally). I just love her. 1w
CBee @CSeydel btw I went ahead and got a few of the books on your list for cheap on Thriftbooks 😊 I got Goodbye, Vitamin, To Say Nothing of the Dog, and Things in Jars 👏🏻 1w

I just realized I made this a few weeks back but never posted it. I am looking forward to #AuldLangSpine 2025. I marked out books I‘ve read already. These were all 4 or 5 stars books for me 🤩. ✨ = most likely to pick up in January and 👀 = I will definitely be reading 🤣 Thanks for the list @Marmie7 and our fearless leader @monalyisha for being our gracious host!

Excited to be participating in #AuldLangSpine this for the first time. I usually miss the sign ups and then get all jealous of everybody and their fun lists, but I have a fun list of my own this year from @thebacklistbook ! I think this may be the nudge I need to finally start reading the Throne of Glass series. I‘ll have to start with # 1 but hopefully will make my way to # 3 later in 2025! ⬇️

LeafingThroughLife Sh*t, Actually sounds like it will make for a good audio read, so I‘ll probably give that one a listen. Annie Bot is already on my vast TBR, so if I have time, I‘ll try to fit that one in, too! Thanks to @monalyisha for organizing. Looking forward to kicking off a year of great reading with these! 😁 3w
BookmarkTavern Lindy West is amazing on audio! 👍🏻👍🏻 3w
monalyisha I love Lindy West! Her writing doesn't always work for me (her style is very colloquial) but when it does, it really does. I love Shrill and I subscribe to her Butt News(letter) and follow her on Instagram. She's so funny and genuine. She did an interview with her husband and their partner about their polyamorous relationship that I found super thoughtful and interesting. I think you should be able to watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v 3w

This chaotic graphic is an accurate representation of my reading life currently, but delighted with @Singout ‘s #AuldLangSpine list. I‘ve read 1-2-7-11-14-17 and every one of the others I‘ve not read sound right up my alley. In fact 3 I‘ve had on my list. However 2 are completely new to me. Love all the NF! I‘m off to place library holds, focusing on the ones pictured. Thanks to the master matchmaker @monalyisha #ALSpine #AuldLangSpine2025

Chelsea.Poole And one I‘m already on hold for at the library via audio for a couple weeks! It‘s meant to be! So I‘ll probably start with 3w
TheKidUpstairs @monalyisha I just looked at that one and immediately thought "Alyisha definitely stacked that!" So up your alley! 3w

This has been a very busy week at work so I‘ve only now been able to really look at the #AuldLangSpine list provided by @Jerdencon and I can‘t wait to start planning for January. We‘re a good match bc I also had The Women and almost put Reykjavik on my list! I also love the Val McDermid book. I especially see a lot of potential with the historical fiction picks on this list. I‘m going to see what my library can provide! Happy reading to us both.

Megabooks The Five-Star weekend is by far my favorite Hilderbrand. Nice list @jerdencon! 2w
Jerdencon I hope you find a few that you enjoy! We definitely have similar tastes! 2w
MallenNC @Jerdencon I took advantage of Audible‘s site wide sale and got a few on audio that my library doesn‘t have. I‘m still deciding what book to start with 2w

Thank you again @monalyisha for putting this event together! This list from @CBee looks very promising 🤩 Three of them I‘ve already read, and four are already on my TBR.

Looking forward to digging in and seeing what‘s available from the library and what I might want to ask Santa to bring me 🎅🏼

squirrelbrain So many great books on this list! ❤️ 3w
CBee @squirrelbrain glad you appreciate ♥️♥️ 3w
CBee @CSeydel I have to mention another book by Valerie Perrin that could be one of my faves of all time, I read it a couple of years ago and recommend it constantly! 3w
CSeydel @CBee Adding it to my TBR! I‘ve already got Forgotten on Sunday in transit to my library branch, it sounds really good and it has a whopping 4.25 avg on GR - can‘t wait to read it (but I promise to wait until Jan 1 😬) 3w

Okay Carrie, I‘m excited! And I gave you double this amount on my list 🫢🫢😂😂 (I can never narrow it down). I‘ve read #6 and #10 (loved both), but none of the others 👏🏻 I‘ll start with I‘m Sorry You Feel That Way since I bought it recently (have you read Our Fathers by Wait? Excellent book). Yay! @CSeydel
#auldlangspine2025 #ALSpine2025

CBee @monalyisha as always, thank YOU for your hard work!! 3w
monalyisha Of course! I haven‘t read the Jess Kidd title on your list but I loved the tagged. Also, The Road to Dalton popped up on a few lists & I think it looks amazing! 3w
CSeydel @cbee I did read Our Fathers! That‘s what spurred me to get I‘m Sorry You Feel That Way. It was a very different story but the writing was again excellent - the characters truly feel like living, breathing people. 3w

CSeydel @CBee I had a sort of meh reading year this year, and many of my favorite books were either niche nonfiction or part of a series, so they didn‘t feel suitable to recommend blindly. But if you want more choices, I can suggest some additional titles! 3w
CBee @monalyisha thanks for the additional rec! I‘m excited 😊 3w
CBee @CSeydel same for me, I bought it right after I read Our Fathers 😊👏🏻 3w
CBee @CSeydel I‘d love that! If you want to start an email correspondence we can - I‘m at cydneybean@gmail.com. I actually have another book I read right after I made my list that I wanted to mention too. 3w
Amiable “Being Mortal” is a wonderfully written work. 3w
CBee @Amiable I‘m going to check that one out on audio! 3w
CSeydel Oh it looks like I didn‘t put All the Sinner Bleed on my list, but since you enjoyed Blacktop Wasteland you might want to check it out! 3w

Thanks for a great #auldlangspine list, @IndoorDame !! I read 5 (marked with 🔔) in January and I loved each! I think my favorite is Foster by Claire Keegan, so much so that I can see adding it to my list for 2025. I plan to get around to several others on the list throughout the year, namely Fingersmith. Thanks for a great match @monalyisha ♥️

IndoorDame I‘m glad you had a good reading month! loved your list too!! My second year with @monalyisha ‘s #AuldLangSpine. I was matched with @TheKidUpstairs who had a fabulous list…the top three I was able to read in January. On the one hand, I‘m happy not to be turning people away this year (like I‘ve had to in previous years). On the other, I‘m shocked there are still spots open! Tell your friends! 💀

monalyisha I say that I‘m surprised, while also having participated in zero swaps myself this year 🙈 (when I normally participate in several). If others are feeling like me, you‘re just busy and tired — and I totally get it! 2y
mrsmarch I‘ve been looking forward to this one all year! ❤️ 2y
monalyisha Thanks, @Mrsmarch! I'm not feeling neglected or anything, so don't worry about my morale. 😅 There are 66 people registered...which is still a ton of excited folks! It's just never taken this long and I'm eager to begin. 😉 2y

BookNAround @Kylivi If you haven‘t seen this, take a look. It‘s a fabulous event and I always find fun, new books from it. It‘s not a swap, just a commitment to read at least one book from another person‘s best of list and review it on here. And @monalyisha does a great job of matching people with similar book tastes. 2y
jhod Oh how exciting, saw this on your feed Rachel @rockpools and have signed up! Thanks so much for organising @monalyisha I need to update my TBR but am very excited to join! 2y
jhod Oh my gosh, I forgot to number my books - shall I resubmit? Apologies! 2y
monalyisha @jhod That‘s okay! It just makes it easier if they‘re numbered but I can reformat. With so few spots left, I don‘t want to mess with things. I have the titles and authors, & that‘s what‘s important. Thanks for offering, though! 2y
jhod Many thanks! 2y
Megabooks I‘m so looking forward to my match! Thank you for doing this!! 2y
Firestarter994 What is Auld Lang Spine? 2y
monalyisha Hi, @Firestarter994! I just closed the registration form, unfortunately, as it reached its limit. But it‘s an annual event I run where you submit your list of favorite reads from the past year; I match you up with another reader based on genre preferences, & you spend January reading from each other‘s lists & getting to know one another. You can catch it next time around if you‘re interested! 2y
rockpools @jhod 🎉🎉🎉 Have fun 😊. 2y
