I guessed early on whodunnit but still wanted to read on and be sure. The last third or so I ate through rather quickly.
I really wish the author would start writing haunted house stories again; hers are some of my favorites
Another solid thriller by Coates. However, it wasn't my favorite. It seemed a little slow compared to her other books. If you like isolated locations with lots a snow and the characters being picked off one by one, this one will entertain. I did guess the killer early on, though.
3.5 stars.

A very entertaining and thrilling snow bound horror/mystery about a group of tourists that are stranded in a blizzard in an abandoned cabin. They start being brutally murdered and everyone is a suspect. I guessed the killer early, but was constantly second guessing. Very fun 4⭐️
Christa & bf, Kiernan, join a small tour group heading to an isolated lodge in the Rocky Mountains for 2 weeks. They are almost there when things start to go wrong: first a fallen tree blocks the road, Christa has an accidental fall & is separated from Kiernan when he & Christa take a short walk whilst waiting for the coach to be freed, & Christa only just finds her way back before succumbing to the snowstorm. When Christa joins a tour group heading deep into the snowy expanse of the Rocky Mountains, she's hopeful this will be her chance to put the ghosts of her past to rest. But when a bitterly cold snowstorm sweeps the region, the small group is forced to take shelter in an abandoned hunting cabin. Despite the uncomfortably claustrophobic quarters and rapidly dropping temperature, Christa believes they'll
This book checks all my favorite boxes. A thriller. Snow. Lots of snow. A group of people trapped in snow far from anywhere. Victims, blood, fear. How could it get any better? It‘s like it was written for me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thriller, horror. Christa is on a winter back country trip in the Rocky Mountains. The group gets stuck in a snow storm and has to take shelter for the night. The next morning they find their missing guide, or his head at least.
This was an exhilarating locked room mystery full of murder and mayhem. It was somewhat hard to keep track of all of the characters as an audiobook but I did find it kept my attention - which is hard right now as my head is all over the place - and I did not see the murderer coming. 🌟🌟🌟🌟 #scarathlon #skeletoncrew
🌟nope! I love a closed room mystery, isolation, trapped in cold books. Unlikeable characters if you can tell them apart, using slasher one by one trope like a bad horror movie. Also, what is the point when you guess who it is by the 3rd chapter of a 10 hour book!!! Ugh! I‘ll read her again and give her another chance.
Out of town with the family for this week so I got to go to a bookstore

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝗪𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 by 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 is an entertaining, grisly mystery full of surprising twists. Nearly every character is a suspect, & the likable & sympathetic protaganist is surrounded by an intriguing cast of supporting characters. Is one “the butcher“ or is the threat outside? Fans of closed-room mysteries will really enjoy this tale. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am a sucker for remote settings, a group of strangers cut off from civilization, and a high body count as they are picked off one by one. Dead of Winter does not disappoint. Think Agatha Christie‘s And Then There Were None set in the Rocky Mountains in white-out blizzard conditions, and a remote resort only open to small, private tours. Predictable? God, yes. Entertaining? Absolutely. I loved it.
I love wintery, blizzardy atmospheres in books, and this one did it really well. Initially, I thought this was a mystery/thriller, but there is definitely horror mixed in, as well. Be warned that there are gruesome parts. But I loved it! So suspenseful and everyone suspects everyone else. You think each of them is the killer at some point and the twists keep coming to the end!
A group of strangers heading into the wilderness for a retreat soon find themselves trapped in an abandoned cabin. As they wait for the winter storm to pass; they start disappearing one by one. The tension was unbelievable and the ending is top notch. I could not put this one down. Thanks to NetGalley and @SimonSchuster for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
