A Matter of Facts
A Matter of Facts: The Value of Evidence in an Information Age | Laura A. Millar
2 posts
The safeguarding of authentic facts is essential, especially in this disruptive Orwellian age, where digital technologies have opened the door to a post-truth world in which "alternative facts" can be so easily accepted as valid. And because facts matter, evidence matters. In this urgent manifesto, archives luminary Millar makes the case that authentic and accurate records, archives, data, and other sources of documentary proof are crucial in supporting and fostering a society that is respectful, democratic, and self-aware. An eye-opening treatise for the general public, an invaluable resource for archives students, and a provocative call-to-arms for information and records professionals, Millar's book explains the concept of evidence and discusses the ways in which records, archives, and data are not just useful tools for our daily existence but also essential sources of evidence both today and in the future; includes plentiful examples that illustrate the critical role evidence plays in upholding rights, enforcing responsibilities, tracing family or community stories, and capturing and sharing memories; and examines the impact of digital technologies on how records and information are created and used. With documentary examples ranging from Mesopotamian clay tablets to World War II photographs to todays Twitter messages and Facebook posts, Millars stirring book will encourage readers to understand more fully the importance of their own records and archives, for themselves and for future generations.

If you have not publicly condemned Hamas and those who are rallying in the streets celebrating, cheering & chanting “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be free” then you are supporting a group whose ONLY desire is the destruction of Israel & the annihilation of the Jewish People. This is NOT about resistance at any cost. The citizens of Gaza are being oppressed by their own “government”. Now is not the time to remain silent 👇🏼

Cinfhen 200 innocent civilians are being held captive in Gaza!!! Try to imagine what it would take to put a bullet in a pregnant woman‘s head, slice open her stomach, remove the fetus and leave a knife in its womb. And now imagine what they are doing to our innocent children, babies, women currently in Gaza?!! Are you as sick as I am?! 1y
Cinfhen Trust me, if you entered Gaza waving a flag for LGBTQ+ or dared walked in the streets openly holding hands with your same sex partner - you‘d be castrated & executed. If you entered Gaza to speak out for Woman‘s Equality, your tongue would be slit. If, as a woman you dared show your hair or face uncovered you‘d be publicly flogged and your family would be shamed. Your lives do not matter to the radicals living in Gaza. 1y
Cinfhen The people of Gaza are suffering by their own people‘s hands. Israel is not their enemy. If you believe the lies, you‘ve been sold the biggest heap of crap 1y

Simona I can hear you, and I see you … but I don‘t have the words anymore 💔 1y
Cinfhen @Simona I know! I know! Sadly, it‘s so hard to find the words. But I‘m done trying to be a voice of reason. I shouldn‘t have to explain to people that chanting for the destruction of the ONLY Jewish homeland and the annihilation of a Jewish race is not ok. There is no justification. I‘m so sad, that people I admired don‘t seen to understand this. I believe you have my email ? Let‘s stay in touch. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Couldn‘t agree more. This last week has been eye opening and heartbreaking. But I will always respect your needs to take care of your own mental health first. If people cannot stand to hear your truth, then it‘s okay to step away. 😢 1y
Cinfhen Ahhhh!! I‘m feeling so much love @BarbaraTheBibliophage I know who has my back 😘 1y
CoffeeAndABook Oh Cindy, yes. It seems I‘m getting into more and more discussions about this. How many times can you repeat that it‘s not about a war on Palestinian civilians but on HAMAS, who couldn‘t care less about the people they‘re supposed to represent. Who use them as pawns and human shields. To imagine what the hostages are going through is not possible for me. It makes me physically I‘ll to try. My heart is breaking over and over 💔 1y
Cinfhen Chrissy, you are one of my favorite people here on Litsy!!! Remember when I almost drank the perfume you sent me @CoffeeAndABook 😂😂😂 hug Zelda and let‘s keep in touch!!! 1y
MaureenMc I echo other‘s sentiments- heartbreaking and incomprehensible. 💔 I‘m grateful for all you shared here, but understand your need to prioritize your own mental health. 💗🙏 1y
CoffeeAndABook Yes, we‘ll keep in touch, Cindy! I still have your email! I will miss you so much on Litsy, but can understand if you need to step back. I wish I could do more than send a hug and my prayers and a gentle nudge from Zelda ❤️‍🩹 1y
BarbaraBB I am with you Cindy and I so hope you‘ll stay on Litsy. We‘re your family too, we are here to listen. I do respect and understand whatever you think is best of course and we‘ll stay in touch no matter what. I miss you already 🤍 1y
Cinfhen @MaureenMc @CoffeeAndABook @BarbaraBB I thought I could remain neutral/ I thought I could keep it together but the lack of empathy in general that I‘m seeing, not so much on Litsy but in the world is too much weight to bare. I don‘t want to be part of a community that can‘t speak up and show solidarity with the innocent Israeli people. You want to shout about Palestine, fine -but to dismiss the actions of Hamas - I will not stand silent (edited) 1y
Christine You are so loved and valued here! We‘ve all benefited from your openness and courage this past week and your wisdom and insights over the years - thank you. 🙏 Will continue to send you good wishes and prayers daily. ❤️ 1y
Cinfhen @Christine I‘m truly touched. Please try to stay in touch - it‘s people like you and all the others above who remind me that the world will right itself and truth will prevail. But it‘s going to be a long long road. 1y
kspenmoll We love you & need your voice. It echoes in me whenever I see the news. We have benefited from your commitment to Litsy over the years, your insights regarding literature & life, your humor, openness. Know that wherever you are in these days we ate with you & sending live, light & hope.I am so grateful for the impact you have made on my life.💙💙💙 1y
dabbe I am just heartbroken for you and for all Israelis, especially those who are just trying to live their lives in Israel. I thank you for the education; no one has been clearer than you. Hamas and the Palestinian people are NOT the same. You have made a difference, and your voice has been heard. I feel like I was just getting to know you here but understand that you need to take care of you. My email is below; I'd love to keep in touch. 💙🇮🇱💙 (edited) 1y

Megabooks My dear friend, you know I have your back now and always!! Praying for you, your family, and those hurting in Israel and around the world!! 💙🇮🇱💙🙏🏻 1y
TheBookHippie It‘s like simultaneously screaming into the abyss and slamming your head against the wall. I see you, we hold space for you and Tova once told me when I asked her how she handled Holocaust deniers- she said/says -let them die in their ignorance .. educate the young. 💙🇮🇱💙 1y
Kristy_K Thank you for all your posts, courage to speak up, and education you‘ve provided. I‘ve been sharing these with my friend and we‘ve been keeping your family and Israel in our prayers. 💙 1y
dariazeoli @Cinfhen I support your choice if you decide to take a break - it‘s been a LOT this week even for those not at the door of what‘s happening. I agree with others who say you need to take care of you. 1y
Chrissyreadit I know it is not your job to educate and handle opposing views- but i have been grateful for your posts knowing they are first hand. I hope you always know and feel how valued you are. I can only send love and care and hope you and Israel are safe. 1y
BookwormAHN Thank you for your presence here. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. We will all be here for you if you need us 🧡 1y
Cinfhen @dabbe @kspenmoll @sblbooks thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I really have no words left in me but what you have written above sustains me - I never thought I‘d feel the need to walk away from Litsy. @Kristy_K @dariazeoli @Chrissyreadit @bookwormahn find me on IG , StoryGraph let‘s not let our mutual love of reading, books & friendship slip away. Right now nothing but the love from friends is keeping me going - thank you xxx 1y
Cinfhen @TheBookHippie YOU NEED to be the beacon- keep shining your light 💙🤍🕊️ 1y
Cinfhen @Megabooks it‘s not just now, but it‘s been years! You‘ve been a sister. You ARE a sister. I promise. My thoughts are headed to you xxxx keeping your situation in my heart too 💙 1y
TheBookHippie @Cinfhen 💙🇮🇱 1y
julesG I didn't write anything yesterday when I first read this post because I just didn't know what to write. I appreciate you and what you've done for the Litsy Family all those years. I understand your reasons for taking a break and I hope you're coming back and/or staying in touch. 💙 1y
jenniferw88 Echoing what others have said, as I can't put it as eloquently. Just know that I am thinking of you and everyone in Israel frequently and that I'd like to stay in touch. I believe we have each other's email, but in case we haven't, mine is irene_gulliver@yahoo.co.uk 1y
Simona I just left you a message on GR. 1y
RebelReader I can understand having to take a break from Litsy(I did it myself for awhile) Although we have never met, I consider you a friend and I will always have your back even if it‘s virtually. Take care and be safe and when you‘re ready we will welcome you back with open arms. 🇮🇱🇮🇱🇮🇱💙💙💙 (edited) 1y
Cinfhen Hi @julesG I remember when we were #BirthdayFairies together! Litsy has always been my happy place but in the past week I‘ve started to feel less like a beloved member of the community. Not from anyone who has taken their time to show love and support @jenniferw88 @RebelReader but sadly from the many who always shared comments with me but have been deeply SILENT since last Saturday. I am who I‘ve always been & I offer no apologies.👇🏼 1y
Cinfhen I will 💯 stay in touch and I‘m open to returning to Litsty when the time feels right. 💕💕💕💕 1y
TrishB I hope the time is soon, but I‘ll be keeping in touch elsewhere ♥️ 1y
Oryx I hope you stay (or come back when it feels right). Sending my love ❤️ 1y
Cortg Take care of yourself. Take the breaks that are needed. You have a community of book people who love you and we‘ll be here when your ready. In the meantime, I‘ll be thinking and praying for you, your family, your friends and Israel. 💕 1y
eanderson 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕 1y
Bookwomble I can't really understand how it must feel to be so close to such atrocious events, Cindy. It's such a terrible, traumatic time. Focusing yourself on you, your family and your community is such a priority. Wishing for your safety, hoping for peace, sending you love 💖 1y
BarbaraJean You have been in my thoughts and prayers so often in the past week. I will miss your voice here on Litsy as you step away—I see you as a beloved member of this community!! But I absolutely support you doing what you need to take care of yourself at this time. You and your family, and your country as a whole, will continue to be in my prayers—for safety and comfort, and for peace, as far off as that may seem. 💙💙 1y
TheAromaofBooks Thank you for all that you share and all the effort you've put into this community, Cindy!! I haven't been on Litsy much lately because of life, but I always like to check in on you and look forward to your posts. I've been heartbroken by the news coming from Israel and horrified to see the responses of many people. Praying for you - let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. ❤ 1y
Chelsea.Poole Thank you for sharing your stories here. I have been thinking of you and all those impacted by these horrible crimes during this difficult time, especially the hostages and families. Such a hard time, and I can only imagine how you‘re feeling. I would hate to see you go from us here but understand the need for a break. 🩵🤍 1y
TheBookgeekFrau I'm sorry to see you go; and that words of love and support weren't louder than the silence. May you and your family stay safe 🙏🏼🕯️💙🤍💙 1y
Caroline2 Thank you for sharing, I have found it shocking and disgusting the journalism here. We‘re not being told the whole story, just shown videos of poor Palestinians. I‘m staying away from FB. It makes my blood boil! No one spoke like this after 9/11 and America invaded Afghanistan. 1y
Centique Oh goodness Cindy it has been so rough. I think what you have shared here has really been eye opening - although i have read enough about Hamas separately to know that they are not freedom fighters or representatives of all Palestine. I have been shocked to hear about content on social media that is very one sided and anti Israel and ignoring the fact that there are hostages lives to be saved here. I understand needing a break - we‘ll talk on IG💕 1y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks 💙🤍💙 sending you lots of love… 1y
Cinfhen Hi friends, I wanted to jump on here and share something that occurred a little while ago. These are stories that aren‘t being shared but are probably occurring throughout the country and it‘s uplifting!
For the first time in 11 days, I drove to the main market where I usually shop. 95% of the workers are Israeli Arabs who live in the nearby surrounding villages.👇🏼
1y
Cinfhen As I was pushing my cart I saw an Arab employee named Yara, who is always smiling & exchanging pleasantries with me. Today in Hebrew she asked how I was. I shrugged & replied in my broken Hebrew “not great.” Again in Hebrew she said, “ You are strong but together we are stronger. Arabs & Jews as one we are victorious” and then I burst into tears and she patted my back and handed me a tissue. All in the cleaning product aisle 👇🏼 1y
Cinfhen with other customers looking on. This is another side of the Israel. Many many Arabs live peacefully with their Jewish neighbors. We are both Israeli citizens. We are both in this together. Rockets are launched in their direction too. This is the Israel that Hamas hates.
Staying strong 💙🤍🇮🇱
1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen Thank you for sharing this beautiful story. 💙🤍💙🤍 1y
julesG 💙 1y

BookwormAHN That is so sweet and so true 💙🇮🇱💙 1y
sarahbarnes Cindy, I care and have been thinking about you so much and hope you will stay here and keep sharing your truth about the atrocities that are being done to your community and innocent people. You are right to remind me as I sit in America that I couldn‘t walk into Gaza with my partner and not be killed. 1y
RebelReader Thank you for sharing this story. It gives me hope that Hammas will not win. 1y
dabbe Your story gave me goosebumps, and it reminds me of the adage “United we stand, divided we fall.“ To live in this crazy 3rd rock from the sun, we all need to get along somehow. Stay strong. 💙🇮🇱💙 1y
TrishB Humanity and decency will prevail ♥️ we have to believe that. That‘s so lovely and I hope has helped your heart today. 1y
Chrissyreadit Love will and must win. 1y

kspenmoll Such a hopeful & loving encounter! (edited) 1y
Librarybelle Thank you for sharing this! What a wonderful story. In dark times, it is often hard to see the good in humanity, and I am so glad you had an opportunity to experience something good. Stay strong. ❤️ 1y
rockpools Just stopping by to see how you‘re doing. Thank you for sharing your stories ❤️ 1y

Shemac77 I can‘t imagine how you must be feeling. Sending so much love and hope to you. It never ceases to amaze me how human beings can be so narrow minded and hurtful. It‘s people like you that show everyone the light. Sending much love and support from Nova Scotia. 💚💚 1y
merelybookish Hi Cindy. Along with so many others, thinking of you at this time and hope you're doing whatever you need to do to take care of yourself. You are loved and missed.💕 1y
britt_brooke Thinking of you, friend. 1y
Larkken Social media is hard, particularly when you have the courage to share what you believe, and I have no idea if you‘re checking this one. Thank you for sharing your truths and your love with all of us. I hope you are well, and that all you love are safe. 1y
AllDebooks It's so hard to process what's happening rn. I'm wishing for peace, my thoughts are with you and yours. Stay safe. Sending love ❤️ xx 1y
CSeydel Thank you for sharing that story. Praying for you and all the victims of this needless violence. 1y
LeeRHarry Continuing to think of you and yours Cindy 💕 xx 1y
DivineDiana My dear Cindy, I have been in Bryn Mawr Hospital for 3 weeks and am still there receiving dialysis treatments. I was aware but did not know much about what was happening In Israel. This is my first opportunity to visit Litsy from my hospital bed. You and your family have been on my mind, and from your posts, I can see how horrible it is. Please know that I support you, pray for you and keep you in my heart. ❤️ 1y
Cinfhen @DivineDiana I sent you an email. I hope it reaches you. I‘m so sorry to hear what you are going through. Stay strong 💕💕💕 I so appreciate your reaching out. 1y

There‘s more I want to share but firstly EVERY person that has reached out to me, to see how I am, to offer support for the pain that was inflicted, to say I pray for your safety and for ALL that are affected- THANK YOU wholeheartedly. Your compassion doesn‘t mean you stand for one side or another side- you are showing up for humanity. And sadly, to those who I thought were my friends, your silence is deafening.

Magpiegem Sending love and strength at this absolutely heartbreaking time ❤️ 1y

Anna40 Sending love. How are your friends and family in Israel? How are you holding up? 1y
Cinfhen Thank you all for taking the time to read my post and offer your words of comfort @Anna40 @CarolynM @youneverarrived @Cupcake12 @julesG @jenniferw88 @Magpiegem As the days pass, and we begin to hear directly from the survivors and their families it‘s really hard to process the world we live in. In 2 days I‘ve attended 2 funerals - for young men, 26 &21. Seeing their friends & families completely gutted, listening to their wails - it‘s a lot. 1y
Anna40 I‘m so very sorry. My heartfelt condolences. 💕 1y
Anna40 Please know even if this means nothing now that Israel and the Jewish people are not alone. In the German Bundestag yesterday every politician, even the right wing AFD, condemned the attack for what it is and demanded to freeze any payments to Palestinians which unfortunately go not as they say to schools and hospitals but weapons. Someone left flowers at our local synagogue and the solidarity with Israel event yesterday was packed. 1y
rockpools Sending so much love to you and yours, Cindy. Thank you for keeping checking in, even with everything. Hugs. 1y
Cinfhen @Anna40 yes, it does help knowing how much the world is supporting and waking up to the realities- and we are feeling less isolated. It‘s sad that it took an event of such horrific proportions but moving forward we need to remember and do better for our future generations. As always, thank you for reaching out♥️ 1y
Cinfhen Rachel, I‘m trying so hard to not come across as preaching or being judgmental - I‘m honestly just wanting to share my experiences, as a Jewish wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend currently living in Israel. @rockpools 1y
Jess Cindy, your post is spot on. The politics are difficult, sure. But I stand for and have compassion for anyone going through this unspeakable tragedy. My heart breaks with every new account that is reported. I‘m so sorry that you have attended two funerals this week. Many hugs. 1y
Librarybelle Thank you so much for sharing this. I fully admit my knowledge is very thin when it comes to the history of Israel, Palestine, and Gaza. Do you have any books that you recommend to learn a bit more? For me, knowledge is power, and I would really like to learn more. I continue to think of you, your family, and your friends. ❤️ 1y
Bookwormjillk Cindy thanks for the update. I listened to a good podcast yesterday that basically said it‘s not a political stance to be against terror/weaponized rape/war crimes. It‘s astounding that these things are still happening in this world. My thoughts are with you. I appreciate your updates, and I am so sorry for everything that has happened. 1y
rockpools @Cinfhen I get that, and that is what‘s coming across. It‘s heartbreaking, horrific and so much more. 1y
JessClark78 I‘m so sorry for your losses. 💔💔❤️ 1y
Anna40 I didn‘t know you‘re in Israel. Stay safe 1y
Megabooks Cindy, I think about and pray for you (and all Israelis) each day!! It is incredibly hard watching so many suffer over there! How are your children? I hate that you have to worry about them as well. God be with you every hour of every day. Any more news from Z‘s old unit? The Psalm you posted on Insta was also the one my mom used for strength when she was battling polio as a kid. May it provide that much strength for you, too. All my love!! 💙🇮🇱 1y
JenReadsAlot I cannot even imagine the reality of it... the news I have watched is just devastating. Continuing to keep you in my thoughts. 1y
PathfinderNicole Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers 💙 1y
MallenNC The first thing I do when I log on here is check your feed. This is all so awful but I hope you keep sharing what you feel comfortable in telling us, if that continues to be something that helps you process. Sending love to you. I am glad you feel supported here on Litsy 1y
CoffeeAndABook I continue to pray, read as much as I can stomach and talk to people about what‘s happening. I sometimes have to make myself stop agonizing over the fates of the abducted, it‘s just too horrific, it makes me physically ill. I stand with you every bit of the way!! My mom is also sending me palms to help find words of anguished prayer 😔💔✡️ 1y
IndoorDame I‘m glad to see that you‘re safe. You‘re in my thoughts in all this 💙 1y
JamieArc 💙🤍💙 1y
jlhammar You've been in my thoughts, Cindy, and I so appreciate all you've been sharing. 1y
Simona I‘m so sorry for everything you have been through this week … and yes, silence is painful, and a kind word is not a political stance. 1y
sarahbarnes 💔💔💔 1y
Cinfhen @Simona I honestly thought about you today - I thought about Bosnia and Herzegovina and how ignorant I was to the long-held siege. I pray the situation here does not escalate like the terrible Bosnian War. Wars and conflicts never help the innocent people. Thank you friend for keeping me in your thoughts 🩷 (edited) 1y
CoffeeAndABook Cindy, still thinking and praying for you, for everyone who‘s lost a loved one, is fearing for a loved one, is in captivity. I‘m still devastated. Thinking of the hostages and what they‘re going through at this very moment is making me physically ill. I wish I could do more than send you my thoughts. My mom has also been sending me psalms to put words to anguished prayers 😔💔✡️ 1y
Ruthiella The situation is heartbreaking. 💔 I am so sorry for you and everyone affected by this awful event. The world feels like it is on fire sometimes with all the hate and violence. 1y
Cinfhen I‘m truly touched by this outpouring of concern 💜 it‘s really difficult to describe what it feels like to be so near to the violence but far enough away to have a (false) sense of security. We can hear fighter jets, we can feel vibrations from the incoming missiles either being intercepted by the Iron Dome or unfortunately the boom when it lands. Supermarkets are empty, we are being told to prepare bottled water and canned food. 👇🏼 1y
Cinfhen My parents grew up in America, so they don‘t know what it‘s like to live through a war being fought on home-ground. My youngest son, is nearly 22 - he shouldn‘t have to be attending funerals of his friends, worrying about what his world will look in 3 months/ 6 months. Since Saturday his already lost 7 friends, one friend is missing ( either assumed dead or taken hostage) and several friends are wounded, including one who lost an arm. 👇🏼 1y
Bklover Cindy, watching the news this morning I was thinking about your son. Still having access to everything happening with his old unit must be excruciating for him. Still here thinking and praying for you all 💔 1y
Bklover Oh, I didn‘t see your post about him above! I‘m so so sorry. 💔 1y
Cinfhen He‘s only 21. The youth of our country pay a heavy price. Military service is mandatory for boys and girls post high school. So when people say well it was a solider not a civilian who was killed or taken hostage , yes, technically it‘s true but the soldiers are our sons and daughters - they run to danger as an obligation to defend their country and its people. Heroic boys & girls @Jess @Librarybelle @Bookwormjillk @JessClark78 @JenReadsAlot 👆🏽 1y
Cinfhen @PathfinderNicole @MallenNC @CoffeeAndABook @IndoorDame @JamieArc @sarahbarnes @Ruthiella @Bklover 👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽 see all my comments above xx I think I‘m emotionally drained and Litsy truly has become a safe space for me🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼 (edited) 1y
mrp27 Keep posting, keep spreading the word. Keep sharing your stories and your friends stories. Stay strong. Blessings to your son who has to witness such tragedy. 1y
MaureenMc I‘m grateful Litsy can be a safe space for you. ❤️ Continuing prayers 1y
TheBookgeekFrau Thinking of you and thankful to be part of this community that gives you a safe place to turn to ❤️🙏🏼 1y
DGRachel You are right. The silence is deafening and I would like to apologize for my delayed response. I‘m glad you are currently safe and I hope that you continue to be so. 1y
Cinfhen PLEASE @DGRachel don‘t apologize at all! I wasn‘t trying to make anyone uncomfortable- I think people feel like im not going to bother them, or what good will my heart emoji do ? but the truth is EVERY act of kindness feels SO HUGE right now - and knowing that an entire community stands with you , gives you strength like no other @TheBookgeekFrau @MaureenMc @mrp27 1y
Cinfhen @Librarybelle I have a book that really helped educate me, but it‘s definitely told from the Israel perspective so I can‘t promise it‘s not a little more sympathetic to the Israeli “side” - but in terms of breaking down history and giving the facts it‘s very clear and accessible. The author is also on IG sharing AMAZING content Noa Tishby (edited) 1y
Librarybelle Thank you, Cindy! ❤️ 1y
Deblovestoread Thank you taking the time to post. I‘m still holding you, your loved ones and Israel close. It‘s such a small thing when what you are experiencing is so horrific. 1y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Continued love and prayers to you, your family, and your friends. 🫂💔 and all Israeli people 🇮🇱 please continue to update us. I look for your posts every morning. 1y
TheBookHippie I logged on to check in on you. Holding you all in my heart. 💙 1y
Simona That is my hope and pray too … It‘s so easy to be ignorant when the war is in the country for which majority of the people can‘t find it on the map, it‘s sad to see, when after few months, war becomes old news in the news cycle, when the gas price is more important than grieving mothers, raped girls and killed boys/men, it‘s so, so easy to forget that behind every brutal act - a human life remains damaged forever … 1y
Simona … and that's why it's important to stay vocal. ♥️🙏 1y
dabbe Thinking and praying about you and all who are affected. 🧡💜🧡 1y
Gissy Maybe it is hard for others to accept or believe what a person is capable to do, to harm others. But the reality, what we are seeing, is so hard, so terrible, so real😢, I can‘t imagine how you and others who have family there are feeling, there are no words😔💔We are here suffering with those images. This is a difficult time, stay with those who really are supporting you. Receive a big hug and strength in this difficult time💓 1y
LeahBergen Please keep posting and take good care of yourself, my friend. I‘m thinking of you all day and sending love. ❤️ 1y
Cinfhen If only more people in this world could be as compassionate as my beautiful tribe of Littens @Gissy @dabbe @TheBookHippie @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Deblovestoread I‘ve been on here for 7 years and never have I‘ve felt more proud to be a #booknerd 🤓and yessssss to everything you wrote @Simona people quickly move on and that‘s why Jews always say #NeverForget #NeverAgain when it comes to the Holocaust 😭 1y
Cinfhen I‘m feeling ya @LeahBergen xxx 1y
quietlycuriouskate Your son is younger than my daughter. I'd be going out of my mind with anxiety if she were in his shoes. I feel for you both. ❤️ 1y
dabbe @Cinfhen You spreading the word, voicing the truth as only you can tell it and being a primary source (term used in history classes) for all of us is so profoundly moving and why good must prevail over evil: “In spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart. I simply can‘t build up my hopes on a foundation consisting of confusion, misery, and death ... ⬇️ 1y
dabbe “I see the world gradually being turned into a wilderness, I hear the ever approaching thunder, which will destroy us too, I can feel the sufferings of millions and yet, if I look up into the heavens, I think that it will all come right, that this cruelty too will end, and that peace and tranquility will return again“ (A. Frank, as you well know). ❤️💔💔❤️‍🩹 1y
Oryx Sending love to you and your family ❤️❤️❤️ 1y
Cinfhen @dabbe it‘s hard to believe but it was only two weeks ago that I read a memoir written by Anne Frank‘s childhood friend. I was literally sobbing throughout this book, thinking about the depravity and lack of compassion these families had to endure & the ultimate & unimaginable suffering they endured. And now HERE WE ARE. Even with a modern State of Israel, Jews are being dragged out of their homes, tortured in the most horrific ways and 1y
Cinfhen Honestly @BookwormM I never notice likes but always enjoy and appreciate the more personal interactions. But im touched to know you‘ve been following my situation and holding me in your thoughts. 💙 it‘s true I also feel weird liking such sad or difficult posts - it seems callous in a way even though it‘s clearly not!!! (edited) 1y
Cinfhen @quietlycuriouskate I‘ve mentioned in other posts but you might have missed - luckily I‘ve been blessed as my son was medically discharged last July 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼At the time he was so distraught about having to leave his unit and end his service time. Now in hindsight it was a blessing in disguise 😇 but the bond of brotherhood amongst these boys is timeless and therefore he‘s remained on their group chats. So on Saturday, some boys 1y
Cinfhen from his unit were actually on guard duty for Kibbutz Be‘eri. Unfortunately they were completely ambushed and my son was literally learning in real time what was occurring. He kept reading us frantic messages he was seeing but we didn‘t really grasp that this was occurring in dozens of towns around the border. It was very traumatizing 💔 1y
Cinfhen @Oryx and it‘s felt and appreciated- thank you!!!!! 1y
marleed Every hour. Every day. I think of you. 1y
dabbe @Cinfhen 🧡🖤🧡 1y
RebelReader My sister and I talk almost every day and we talk about what‘s going on over there everyday. We feel saddened that these atrocities keep happening in the world. Why??? I look for your posts everyday so I can see you are still safe. I‘m glad your son is safe too, but it has to be hard also not to be with his unit as well. You continue to be in my prayers. 1y
TheLudicReader It‘s a travesty what is happening. 💔 1y

dabbe @kspenmoll So have I! I think spreading the word and truth is one way to fulfill the hope expressed by Anne all those years ago. ❤️ Keep spreading the word, @Cinfen. 💜💜💜 1y
TheBookHippie @Cinfhen I read that book too and in my town before we left I once again visited Tova one of the youngest Holocaust survivors she cannot sleep … 1y
Megabooks I‘m up in the night (as you know I am want to do) and I wait each day for an update praying feverishly for your situation. I know it is hard for us to understand what you‘re going through, but I am so happy you are finding empathy and support here. Like @BarbaraBB expressed, you (and M, E, Z, and A too) are never far from my mind! 1y
Cinfhen @LaraReads I‘m so sorry you are facing your own personal difficulties. I pray you will find peace and comfort too. I appreciate your taking time to check in 🩵 I realize we all are facing hardships - how special that we can all come together and say - I have you in my thoughts - this is what the world should be @Megabooks @dabbe @britt_brooke @Chelsea.Poole @kspenmoll @BarbaraBB @sblbooks @christine 1y

Cinfhen @TheBookHippie WOW! I can‘t believe you know Tova. How I ache for her heartbreak to see what is happening. I will 💯 listen to her book, once my headspace allows for it. Hope you‘re finding peace and an escape from all the maddening, Christine 1y
Centique Thank you for taking the time to teach us here as well as reach out with the news from the front line. I am gutted for your son to have lost friends and for all those families 😢 Know that you are in my prayers and always will be 💕 1y
Caroline2 My heart is with you and your family. Thank you for taking the time to explain things like this, I find it really helpful to understand. My heart is broken for everyone in Israel right now, it is horrific what you are all going through. 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage My heart is with you and your family, Cindy. Always. 💙🤍💙🤍 1y
TheBookHippie @Cinfhen Tova is a fun story I‘ll share it sometime. She is travelling around talking to colleges sharing her truth which she will not stop doing unless she truly cannot. She‘s 85 now. 1y
Suet624 Much love to you and yours... 1y
Cortg I‘m so sorry this is happening. I check on your posts regularly and I‘m praying for your safety, your family‘s safety and your friends safety and strength. ❤️ 1y
CSeydel I am glad you are safe. I‘m so frustrated trying to explain the long history of this situation to my college-age daughter who is picking up a lot of garbage from social media. I hope you don‘t mind I sent her a screenshot of your statement because it‘s so clear and well written. 1y
Cinfhen PLEASE share @CSeydel I am SO sick and saddened over the hatred and garbage that is being fed to our college age kids. SO MUCH MISINFORMATION!!!! And LIES!!!!! It‘s truly terrifying what they believe 😭😭😭😭 1y
Cinfhen Thanks my dear friends, my heart is full of appreciation @Centique @Caroline2 @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Suet624 @Cortg and every message you post gives me strength and hope 🙏🏼 1y
CSeydel Me too 😢 1y
dariazeoli Still thinking of you, Cindy, & hoping you stay safe. Social media is really difficult to disseminate this week and it‘s hard to get up to speed on something you‘re so uneducated on when there‘s so much noise out there. I‘ll strive to educate myself better while I hold compassion for everyone Hamas is victimizing for their hateful ideology and mission statement. Misinformation and lies are what keep this evil alive. It‘s up to is to keep it at bay 1y
CBee Cindy, I decided I needed to educate myself and am currently listening to this on audio: 1y
CBee It‘s really good so far, plenty of history but also interspersed with her family‘s history and a bit about her own life. I know she‘s been constantly updating on IG as well and I followed her there. Still sending you all so much love ❤️ @Cinfhen 1y
Cinfhen You are SO RIGHT @dariazeoli lies and misinformation are another enemy the world needs to fight. I get it. It‘s so hard to dismantle it all and it‘s hard not to think about the innocent people who live under Hamas rule, who have been indoctrinated with so much hate and lies. (edited) 1y
Cinfhen @CBee I found Noa‘s book REALLY helpful & insightful. And she‘s been outstanding on IG & other social media platforms providing context & content. THANK YOU for WANTING to know more and learn more. Education is a powerful weapon! 1y
CBee @Cinfhen ❤️❤️ 1y
