Dead as a Doornail
Dead as a Doornail: A Sookie Stackhouse Novel | Charlaine Harris
Small-town cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has had more than her share of experience with the supernaturalbut now its really hitting close to home. When Sookie sees her brother Jasons eyes start to change, she knows hes about to turn into a were-panther for the first timea transformation he embraces more readily than most shapeshifters she knows. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population, and Jasons new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out whos behind the attacksunless the killer decides to find her first

I totally forgot about Quin and the were-tiger! When they mentioned what he was, I was like Oh Yeah! Love him!

This one has someone going after shifters. They shoot Sookie because she is always smelling like one. She has a strange vamp staying at her house, someone set her house on fire and it‘s just problem after problem for her.

This one didn‘t have as much Eric as I would like but had plenty of shapeshifters to go around!

This was a book I read in between. It was an okay read. I'm always a bit unbelieving when Sookie is decribed as bit of a weird boring housemouse, while at the same time she has lots of men vying for her attention.
TBR since July 8th. 2018; 295 pages.

I got a decent start to the #20in4 readathon with around 7 hours so far, mostly listening to this one, plus an hourish of reading Dune. @Andrew65

I've read/listened to the Sookie series multiple times, and this is definitely my least favorite of them. Alcide in the show was bearable, but I really dislike his book personality and all the pack stuff from this one.

Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 4y

Par for the course. I‘m not enjoying these as much the second time around but they‘re still good. Sookie gets caught up in a shifter crisis and Were politics, and the usual vampire shenanigans. There are a record six interested male parties all trying to piss circles around Sookie, if you‘ll forgive the crude analogy. On to the next installment.

Caroline2 😆 great review!! 👍 4y

Another solid book in this series. Sookie is on a mission to protect her brother and she does a fine job of it. Eric does not appear to much in this novel and it sufferd for it. I guess i am only reading for one reason

Light vacation reading fun. I enjoyed it.

rwmg I love those covers. They were what led me to Charlaine Harris 5y
pdever @rwmg it is the first time I read anything by her, but I liked it enough to put her on my future list. I found this one at a big book sale ... Lucky pick. 5y

Werewolfs fighting, fairy folk, sookie almost dying, Eric being all cute, bill being jealous, and Quinn the tiger 😍💖
My imagination is running wild right now!

To save her brother Sookie has to find out who is killing the local were population.

Again Harris weaves a wonderful tale.

maich @julesG @JazzFeathers It's really long winter this year. I need to plant my vegetables. It's cold, we still have temperature under 0. 😣 One follower on Instagram wrote me that spring and summer went to a holiday😂😂🤣 7y

Maybe it was the 5th book already, it was not as exciting and fun as before. I am starting to despise Sookie just because every supernatural male wants her. A lot was still left unexplained. There was also a small amount of Bill.

It appears that my original Kindle Fire has stuck its little circuits in the air and died. I haven't used it much the last two years, since I bought a new, slightly larger one. This was a first generation Fire, and it served me well. It's just that it was my first ereader, and so I'm feeling sentimental 😊

TrishB I have got the very first one and I think it's ready to go anyday now.... 7y

Bookzombie I still have one that has the keyboard and I will be so sad when it dies. I also have this edition of the Fire that a friend gave me but prefer my old one. 7y
NCNY I know that's a reflection of your wall but it kind of looks like your dead kindle is now a portal to another dimension. 7y
Lynnsoprano @NCNY It was interesting to try to find a place to take the picture. I discovered that it's very hard to take a picture in our house that's going to reflect something that isn't a ceiling fan😂 7y

Finished #4 last night and on to #5... moving to ebook (no lines when you get higher in a long series :)) and glad I don't have to look at those atrocious covers any more. Pairing with a favorite Sunday activity! #slaythatseriesreadathon

Vampires don't come out until #Dusk. Since I liked Bill and Eric more than Lestat or Edward or Matthew, it's the Sookie Stackhouse series for today's #JuneBookBugs.

I liked the books so much, except for the last one, I might have gone to the trouble to #JoinAFanClub. (#JuneTunz)

AmandaL I love this series! I suspected she was going to end it like she did, but it wasn't my favorite either. 8y
julesG @AmandaL I suspected the ending as well, I was just shocked at how CH did it. It felt like: "Oh bummers, I have to end this series, well let me just kill all the good story lines in one meh-book." 8y

This is right about where this series started to go a little downhill for me. Still fun reads, but just some of the added storylines that start to come into play here weren't working for me, in particular, Jason's story.
