So, before we start our new reads with the #FellowshipOfTolkien l want to try and finish at least the Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings. With both books, I'm not so far from the end, so...
And soon, the #DraculaDaily will pick up again where l left off last year, and I'd like to finish that too.

@Daisey and l have been thinking what to read next with the #FellowshipOfTolkien.
There are a few option we'd like to explore.
Here is what we have come up with for a Fall reading.
1. Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
2. The Fall of Numenor
3. Tolkien and the Great War
These are really three different path we might thread.

panDisappointed in this one. It‘s bound so beautifully and smells great, but for something that‘s labeled as an atlas and says it celebrates great artwork inspired by Tolkien without too much explanation in the preface, there‘s not a lot of artwork and a lot of words. Also a lot of dense family tree type charts and timelines. Would much rather recommend reading illustrated editions of the Silmarillion, Hobbit, and Lord of the Rings.
Post 1/2: When I read ”Of the Flight of the Noldor” now after reading the History of Middle-Earth (HoME), I always miss the actual inclusion of the oath of Fëanor and his sons. Reading the words feels so much more dramatic than only a narrative description. So, I‘m sharing two versions. This is the version from the tagged book.

panLike the first book of lost tales, it‘s a lot of extraneous explanation from Christopher Tolkien about his father‘s work. The last few stories were unfinished but a few did have full narratives. I liked a couple of them, but the Turambar tale was super messed up and violent. A lot of this is more fleshed out in the Silmarillion.
pickI really enjoyed this collection of tales. The tales themselves are unfinished, as they are drawn from Tolkien's notes and unpublished manuscripts. In some ways, they illustrate how unfinished The Silmarillion, The Hobbit, and The Lord of the Rings are. This book is full of supplemental stories to add more details and background to those stories. The Tale of the Children of Húrin is one of my favorite Tolkien stories. The illustrations are great.
