The Earthquake Bird | Susanna Jones
post image

1. Tagged. The Earthquake Bird by Susannah Jones. I remember being obsessed by it some years ago. - I even once missed my commuter train stop on my way home from work at theatre in the middle of the night because I was so hooked 😅
2. Unheimlich (=eerie, uncanny), a YA romantic thriller omnibus by Ursula Isbel. Got it on my 13th b'day. Still reread it every once in a while.
3. After Dark and/or Dance Dance Dance, my two faves by Haruki Murakami.

StaceGhost Yuki I love your choices! Murakami is such a good reread. I think my most rereads are boring— Jane Eyre, Anne of Green Gables, and Anna Karenina. 3w
dabbe Yowza! 3 I've never heard of and now on the TBR. Thanks for sharing. 💚💙💚 3w

Yuki_Onna @StaceGhost Classics aren't (necessarily😉) boring! At least not Jane Eyre😁
I've never read the other two. I must say that I'm impressed by your rereading of Anna Karenina 🤯

Yuki_Onna @dabbe You're more than welcome! 🩷🩵💜 3w
dabbe @StaceGhost I don't think so! #1: On my list, too! #greatminds #2: 🤩 #3: You win the #beyondperseverenceaward. I read it once, loved it, and said “Never again.“ 😂 Thanks for playing. 💚💙💚 3w

Thanks to #RushAThon I have made an effort during the weekend & last few days of my holidays and read a ton (for me at least).

I read and finished A Stranger in the House by Shari Lapena which was also my #Doublespin for September;
a reread of Hamlet by Shakespeare (#Reread was my #Bookspin of June)
as well as the biggest achievement - I pushed through the last third and annotations of Jules Verne's 20000 Leagues under the Seas 😖
⤵️

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! Excellent work getting through 20,000 Leagues! I have such mixed feelings about that book! 😂 I did enjoy the Mysterious Island more, which is not a strict sequel but has several familiar faces! 7mo

As I continue to limp towards the #DriveTo500 finish line, I‘m finishing up my #BookspinBingo board. I am digging print books right now, Fight Night and Asymmetry, but new audiobooks are feeling like a chore! I am enjoying Vanderbilt, though. What a fascinating family! I think I‘m going to try some more #rereads like Nobody Somebody Anybody.

High-risers is my center square, and I‘ve tried twice. Just not the right time. 🐻 #WeeklyForecast

Reviewsbylola Nobody, Somebody, Anybody is on my TBR and I have Fake Accounts currently checked out from the library! 2y
squirrelbrain Lemon was quirky, but good. And it‘s only short so that will help…. 😜 2y
Cinfhen Funny how you‘re cycling out of audiobooks/ do you read Ebooks?? 2y

I am struggling this week with the #DriveTo500. (Reading 500 books this year.) I am 35 away atm, but if it weren‘t for this, I‘d probably be sliding into a slump. I may finish with a bunch of #rereads, but 🤞🏻 I‘ll make it.

All three print books were BIG TIME winners!! I loved my reread of Mary Jane. Perfect for my mood now. The Ai Weiwei was far too heavy, but I‘m enjoying my #audiobook reread of Fake Accounts. #BookReport

Megabooks Also I‘m three reviews behind again! 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ 2y

Mehso-so

And with this book, SJM loses me a lot. Aelin is conniving, and after 5 books her lack of communication is so frustrating. Especially when combined with SJM‘s habit of springing “known” info on the readers, it was a slog. Also, the repetition is a little annoying. “Rutting” isn‘t a great word, and absolutely does not replace the f-word well. Just say f*ck with your whole chest, please.

I remember liking this a lot more the first time I read it, but a lot has changed since then. I‘m older than Celaena, which shouldn‘t make so much of a difference but it really does. She seems childish, and makes observations that should seem obvious that aren‘t. Also, I really hate love triangles. I think they‘re dumb, and this one sets up a triangle that‘s…dumber than most. Nehemia is by far one of my favorite characters, but she‘s used so (1)

MsRadioSilence irresponsibly. I can‘t remember if she plays a bigger role in the next book, and I think that speaks volumes. Anyway. 2/5 stars for YA mediocrity. #summerreads #rereads #camp (2) (edited) 3y

This is one of my “instant favorites“, I fell in love with this book the moment I began reading it. It's a beautiful tale of self-love, of finding yourself, of living your life to the fullest, exactly the way YOU want to live your life.
