Was there even a crime? Was someone trying to kill someone? Or was it just a game? Two American authors are invited to a famous elderly author‘s estate for Christmas and she goes missing. Then someone tries to shoot Maggie, and kidnaps her to boot. Maggie, who hates the other invitee Ethan, must rely on him to help figure out what‘s going on. Until it looks like he‘s in on it too. The weather has shut down travel, phones, and finally the ⬇️

Texreader electricity. And then another invited British author is poisoned! So a set of very unlikeable family members of the missing elder all become prime suspects. It‘s a lot to keep track of, especially for an audiobook. But it‘s a good story if not a little bit repetitive and I enjoyed it. I read it for #wintergames and finally writing the review. 4d

Dashing Through the Snow | Mary Higgins Clark

Fictional author Nora Reilly is a special guest at a small New Hampshire town‘s festival that‘s gone nutty when a group of grocery store workers win the lottery the day before. When one goes missing and turns up injured and his girlfriend kidnapped, Nora‘s daughter/private investigator Regan and family friend Alvirah are on the case. Once again, many “chance” events culminate in a tidy resolution. I love it because I like to see how it all ⬇️

Texreader comes together to solve the crime. These Christmas stories are really well done (even if kidnapping is the crime de jour)! I read this book for #wintergames and now finally writing the review. 4d

Deck the Halls | Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark

I‘m not sure how it is everyone gets a turn at being kidnapped in Clark‘s Christmas books, but this time it is Regan Reilly‘s father, wealthy owner of several funeral homes. Reilly is a private detective in LA but she engages the help of good friend of the family and NYC native Alvirah, an amateur but very good private detective herself. What I like about these stories are how the random characters and subplots come together to help solve the ⬇️

Texreader mystery and save some lives. This book features two little boys whose mother was kidnapped at the same time, elevating the level of tension, but who indirectly also have a role in solving the crime. I read this for #wintergames but am catching up on reviews now. 4d

A Christmas Carol | Charles Dickens

I didn't add up my word search numbers. It ended up being a very hectic and stressful holiday season, so I didn't post much on Litsy or read half as much as I'd hoped. This is mostly just the ridiculous number of bingo cards (55) I added my 22 books to, as well as getting to include audio editing time to my Twitch read-along books. I only got 2 full bingo boards. 😂
