My last #Roll100 book for 2025

I think Irving and I need to break up. After a passionate romance from about 1985-1999, we took a 20 yr hiatus and now things just aren‘t the same. This is the 2nd book published in the 21st century of his that I‘ve kinda hated. To be fair, we both have changed.

IMO this was a mess. Juan Diego is a writer in Iowa via Mexico. He remembers his past on a trip to the Philippines. Too scattered/unnecessary sex scenes.

It‘s been a while since I‘ve been active here… but glad to be back. Missed this lovely bookish community 🩷

If it had been marketed as fiction, my rating would have been higher.
But read as a fiction, this book is emotional and interesting, it's a nice story about the friendship between an elephant and his caretaker. The main thing that bothered me while reading it was the lack of chronological elements. Also, a lack of nuances in describing the bad characters (very manichean). Too much pathos at times, but I learned a lot about elephants.

Not many buildings can rival the bright lights and vibrant colors of the Strip at night, but the big top of Treatro della Notte certainly holds its own.
The black-and-gold-striped building is blanketed by an explosion of twinkling white lights.

3✨ I liked that they talked about taking care of the animals better in circus‘. Dolittle is constantly getting himself into jail because of his animals. There is only a few side stories this time so it follows one main plot. Not a bad read. #DolittleDiscussion @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Salvos Forbes came up with the goods. My sister found me the vintage jumpers. The top jacket and shirt are for my giant, baby nephew. You can guess what his two favourite things in the world are. Grand total $48.50.

In Portland for our 22nd (!!) anniversary and obviously I‘ve checked out a few bookstores. Here‘s a lil #bookhaul between me and the husband (I need to reread both of Erin Morgenstern‘s lovely books soon so I‘m preparing!)
