I started two stories; one is the tagged one (our team's buddy read), and the other is one I haven't read in a long time (see pic above). Feeling cozy already! 😃

AnnR Excellent! 🎄👍❄ I'll be listening to the audio for The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding too. 4mo

"You cannot love and be immortal."

My first read of 2023.

I know I have been MIA.. but you know LIFE happened and this time pretty harsh and solid.. Don't know if I'll be still regular here..

Which is your first read of 2023?

Sadly this book wasn‘t exactly what I expected, one great thing about it. It gave an interesting character development for some of the liars, but the book didn‘t feel more like a filler in the bigger ark of the series. In my opinion, still going to read the 10th book.

TheAromaofBooks I haven't read this series yet, and it's gotten so long since I originally added it to my TBR!! 2y
melzen @TheAromaofBooks I would advice you to listen to the audiobooks, they make the books more interesting. The books are like soup operas 2y
melzen @TheAromaofBooks are you drawing all the numbers tmr? 2y
TheAromaofBooks Yes, tomorrow is the day!!! It is always on the 2nd 😁 2y

I don‘t use my Amazon Prime account very often (or choose a #firstread) but I‘ve been wanting to read this one for a while. Getting it for free was a deal I couldn‘t pass up. 🦒 🦒 ❤️❤️📖📖

rachaich I read this and thought it was ace! 2y

Starting my #FirstRead #NonBuddyRead it‘s a rather slim one...

squirrelbrain It‘s *very* short. I made myself stop at 80% yesterday so I didn‘t accidentally finish it! 🤣 3y
Cinfhen Even though it‘s slim @squirrelbrain it‘s pretty well packed @rockpools I‘m not sure I LOVE it but I‘m definitely curious where this book is headed. 3y
squirrelbrain Yes I agree with you - I‘m not loving it but it‘s OK.... @rockpools 3y

rockpools Good morning! Happy New Year! Needless to say, I haven‘t actually started yet - I had a pressing appointment with sunrise 🌅 (it‘s cold out there!) - sorry you‘re not loving it, but short and curious both sound good. I will catch up - after my porridge!!! @squirrelbrain (edited) 3y
BarbaraBB You three are kicking off the new year in the best way! Love it! @squirrelbrain @rockpools 🤍 3y
squirrelbrain No rush @rockpools - I‘m working today so won‘t be reading much until this evening.... There was a lovely sunrise here the other morning - not so much today! A bit dull really..... 3y

#WeeklyForecast

I‘d like to finish the 3 books I have in progress before the New Year (top row). There‘s another 10 audio hours of City of Tears though, so I‘m not sure if that‘s possible!

And I haven‘t decided on my first book of the new year, but it‘s likely to be one of the bottom three. I‘m veering towards Sulari Gentill as a short novella, and a safe pair of hands I know I‘ll enjoy.

Cinfhen Exciting to see everyone‘s #FirstRead 3y
Cinfhen I might switch mine for 3y
rockpools @Cinfhen We could be #FirstReadTwins! I‘m not going to suggest a buddy read, cos it never ends well 😂😂 3y

squirrelbrain I might read the same one Rachel, @cinfhen - it‘s on my #bookspinbingo list anyway.... we could do a #nonbuddyread! 3y
Cinfhen That sounds like a fabulous non-plan @squirrelbrain and Rachel 🥳🥳🥳 let‘s do it 🙌🏻 3y
rockpools @Cinfhen @squirrelbrain 🎉🎉 A non-plan for a #nonbuddyread sounds like the perfect start to the year 😁 Looking forward to it! 3y
Cinfhen Woohoo @squirrelbrain @rockpools I‘ll start it on Friday 🥰 3y

I‘ll need to finish 5 books by midnight Thursday if I want to reach 250 books...so if you have ideas for short audiobooks or good novellas please share below!!! @Reviewsbylola introduced me to the importance of choosing your #FirstRead at the start of each New Year....it sets the tone. Last year I read Olive Kitteridge and it was PHENOMENAL, so hoping my fiction and #NF choices won‘t disappoint 🤞🏼🤞🏼Excited for all the new reading challenges♥️

vivastory I'm a firm believer first read of the year. Mine was Stoner. 💙 3y
Reggie Ring Shout was 176 pages. It was pretty good. 3y
Reggie Kim Jiyoung Born in 1982 is also 176 pages. 3y

Reggie b, Book, and Me 168 pgs. 3y
squirrelbrain I definitely need to consider my first read of the year too. Which country are you using the Boyne for? - I can see there‘s a few possibilities there.... 3y
squirrelbrain This is short but devastating, if you can get it on audio. Might be good for a re-listen even if you‘ve read it before. 3y
vivastory @squirrelbrain recommendation of Steinbeck reminds me of another Steinbeck that I read several years ago & enjoyed. A novella 3y
Kalalalatja I‘m planning my first book of the new year, too, but I haven‘t picked one yet, but it will have to be a good one! 😅🤞 3y
TrishB I‘ll have to remind myself which is the first day of the year! Hopefully it will be when my son gets home 🤞🏻🤞🏻 3y
Cinfhen Oh wow @vivastory I I haven‘t read the Pearl since 8th grade / that‘s a good one!!! I just re-read OMAM last year @squirrelbrain it is a good one. So sad 💔 (edited) 3y
Cinfhen I‘ll look into Ring Shout @Reggie I‘m saving Kim Jiyoung for 2021! 💓💓💓 (edited) 3y
Cinfhen I‘m planning on using the Boyd for Palestine @squirrelbrain we shall see.... #FirstRead is DEFINITELY a THING @Kalalalatja @vivastory 3y
Cinfhen Was J not with you for Xmas @TrishB 😭😭😭???? 3y
TrishB No 😢 fingers crossed flight doesn‘t get cancelled on 1st Jan. He‘s in Belfast. 3y
Cinfhen Definitely fingers crossed/ toes too🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 @TrishB (edited) 3y
Megabooks My first book last year was Girl, Woman, Other and it was amazing! My favorite short book this year was Keep Moving by Maggie Smith - 2.5 hours audio. The Body Is Not an Apology which both @britt_brooke and I really enjoyed is short too. Evidence of the Affair by TJR is available on Audible Plus is about 2 hours. Elizabeth Avecedo‘s books are fairly short on audio and excellent! Fauci on Audible Plus is very good. About 3 hours. 3y
Megabooks Hope this helps! 3y
KarenUK Great short audios... world of wonders (nature/memoir) and A monster calls is sad but fantastic. Orkney by Amy sackville is a favorite novella of mine... and Nick Hornby‘s State of the Union is short and fun. Or the NYRB A Month in the Country is lovely. I‘m thinking this tagged one might be my first in 2021 as it is a #doubledip for some challenges and I hear is fab. (I love the author on instagram- he‘s so great on mental health stuff) (edited) 3y
KarenUK Oh, and my 2 recent kids audios were both lovely.... The Tale of Despereaux & The Case of the Missing Marquis 3y
britt_brooke I definitely second The Body is Not an Apology. SO GOOD. @Megabooks 💚💚 3y
britt_brooke If you like snarky science fiction, the Murderbot novellas are entertaining and only about 3 hours each on audio. There‘s one novel, too, but I haven‘t gotten that far yet. I‘m on 3rd novella. 3y
Cinfhen Thanks SO MUCH for the recommendations @britt_brooke @KarenUK @Megabooks Going to research right now💗 3y
Cinfhen Midnight Library is HIGH UP my list too @KarenUK 3y
Centique @britt_brooke omg I LOVE Murderbot. This usually means that Cindy will hate it 😂😂 but we can hope 🤞🤞 3y
Cinfhen Hahaha @Centique I don‘t think it‘s for me but I‘m willing to try @britt_brooke unfortunately I‘m out of Hoopla borrows for December 😩so I need to give it a go in 2021 😜 3y
britt_brooke @Centique 😂😂🤞🏻 3y
