A good book and grandbaby sleeping make for a good night:)
I loved this show and I‘m not a big TV person. I also loved her decorating book and even bought her magazine last Winter. I made notes from both when designing my own home recently. I loved knowing more about them and their lives. This is a sincere book and I enjoyed every minute of it.
What cute people! So supportive of each other‘s dreams!
I listened to the audio book of this. It was cute, uplifting, and a fun story.
This was light, just the type of read I needed. I have been having trouble concentrating, this book was perfect for this time of struggle
If you can't find happiness in the ugliness, you're not going to find it in the beauty, either.
1) from my nieces last Dance competition I went to- jazz took 2nd place! (Red arrow to my niece ❤)
2) tagged book, unless I buy another today lol
3) Laundry, work and maybe brunch

This family is just so darn adorable. I hadn‘t read this book because I feel like I know their story. However, it really was fun to read about in a longer sequence rather than little bits from show to show.

I finally mustered up enough strength to listen to an audiobook. Lately after my 3rd and 4th craniotomy that left me with cranial nerve palsy that effects my eye sight - looking at all my books just brings an overwhelming sadness to me. My husband took me to Chip & Jo‘s silos last week & we had an amazing time. (My first time in Texas) On our flight home I decided to download their audiobook & I really enjoyed it. It brought me joy. 💚
Saw this today at Magnolia world. Thought at first it was cool, then started to have heart palpitations about real books being set in concrete and never being able to be read again! #texasroadtrip
This was a fun listen to! I've loved Chip and Jo from the Fixer Upper, so I especially loved listening to their story on how they met and became successful. #audiobook #magnoliastory #chipandjo

I‘ve never actually watched the show, but I enjoy memoirs so I thought I‘d give this a go. This was a sweet story about hard work, faith, and family. I loved some of the themes in this. Choose gratitude and joy now. Find contentment on the journey, not at the destination. And have faith. Overall a sweet, lovely read.
I really enjoyed this audiobook! I don‘t watch the show very often (I don‘t think I‘ve ever even seen a full episode!), but I was intrigued to learn more about Chip and Joanna from the little I‘ve seen of their personalities. I enjoyed hearing about their background, thought processes, home projects...they seem very down to Earth and I enjoyed their story ☺️
My husband and I have been working to get our house ready (painting, cleaning, misc projects) into the wee hours of the morning for the last 16 days. We agreed to RELAX and READ today (we celebrated Easter with family for dinner last night)....BUT he isn‘t awake yet, so that means I can work on sorting books (and listening to a new audiobook), right!?!? Happy Easter everyone!! 🐣
I have birthday plans today which will cause me to be out for a good chunk of the day, but I‘m still planning on keeping up with my #OWLsReadathon2019 classes later with this one for Arithmancy (more than one author)
This seems like a fitting audiobook to listen to, considering that I‘m building a bookshelf while I listen. It‘s a perfect pairing and a great book so far.
Such an inspiring message to never give up
I don't normally read "new-age" biographies, but I really had a lot of fun with this book. ☺ It was funny, cute, and (for myself) very relatable. It showed the reality (both the many struggles and triumphs) of the lives and marriage behind our beloved "Fixer Upper" couple...definitely reccomend for an enjoyable weekend read. ?
4.5 ?

Free on prime reading: the Gaines' success story. Went to Magnolia in Waco 2 years ago; it was 100 degrees that day but they provided lovely sun-brellas to use while there.
I‘ve been slacking on reading lately. I‘ve been a little busy with my newborn, but I plan on reading a couple of books for the holiday season! I‘ve been reading a bit of The Magnolia Journal Winter Issue here and there when I get a chance. I just love Joanna‘s style!
The bad news is: we came home from vacation & our bathroom looked like the photo on the left. We thought we were just having a small problem with the hot water. NOPE.😅
The good news is: we‘re getting a bathtub! I can‘t wait to use my first ever (😱) bath bomb. Also, our landlord asked us what color we want to paint the walls. I‘m thinking a shade of eucalyptus. 🤔

A delightful couple, a delightful story!

Told in a conversational style, the Gaines tell stories about their early yrs. & how their major milestones & setbacks effected them not only on an individual level but also as a couple & growing family. But tbh, this fell pretty flat due to its lack of depth. Even just a wee bit of deeper introspection would've helped.
For me, the true highlights here were learning about how & why Joanna's design aesthetic came to be & changed over the years.

Ahhhhhh, #SundayFunday.
The 2nd half of the readathon yesterday didn't really happen for me but that's ok since I ended up having a wonderful overdue catch-up session with a girlfriend over a hibachi dinner.
Today is all about relaxing, starting with a nice full breakfast & some lighter reading material- love Fixer Upper! 🏚🔧🖌🛠.... 🏡❣

This is my current #ReadingNook for the #Readathon , at least until I get sleepy & have to move to my bed, lol.
I plan on just focusing my time between all my #CurrentReads which are pictured here plus I threw in one library check out which is no longer renewable & therefore a priority as well.
Snack- A nice bowl of cold cantaloupe pieces to snack on in between pages. 🍈😋
I think this was recommended by @Copwithabook as an audiobook that I can listen to with a 4-year-old present. I like the Fixer-Upper show. Chip and Joanna seem genuine and the book provided respite breaks while in the midst of reading Wuthering Heights. 2/5🏠‘s
My library haul!
I am abt to watch the last episode of Fixer Upper 😭😭 #myfavshow #sosad
Confession: I ❤️ HGTV.
Adore it. And this story about Chip and Joanna's marriage/family/life was so good.
Made me feel like "just give me 200K and a house to restore." #girlboss
If you are a lover of Fixer Upper (like me) then you have to read this book! It‘s a quick read and gives you a lot of insight on how they got to where they are.
I love Chip & Joanna Gaines! They are wholesome and just awesome! So I created this shiplap bookmark with them in mind 🤗 head over to my Etsy shop to take a look www.ashsbookmarks.etsy.com

I absolutely love this show! I love Jo's style, how goofy Chip is, and their chemistry. This audiobook was a quick, interesting look at their story (and I loved Chip's interjections). That said, while I respect their views on faith (regardless of my own personal beliefs), I don't think they give themselves enough credit. At one point it was like "we didn't actually do anything, it was just God's plan" which I think oversimplifies it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Halfway through this book, I knew it would be on my bookshelf for a long time to come. The book dances between Chip‘s and Joanna‘s perspectives, telling the story of how they met and what brought them to where they are now. It‘s an easy, delightful read, sprinkled with simple wisdom.
“I always thought that the “thriving” would come when everything was perfect, and what I learned is that it‘s actually down in the mess that things get good.”
“If you can‘t do more, better try being more” - training advice I still remember receiving from an amazing mentor and I was reminded of this when Joanna shared that she realized she was going to have to “increase her capacity” to keep up with Chip. I really love the Gaines‘ attitudes in living every day: “Thrive now.”
I've read this one because I've been in a bit of a slump lately and I wanted a quick read to get me going again. I love their show but I don't think the book really added much to their story.
I really enjoyed learning how Chip and Jo met and became the power couple they are today. It wasn't always easy and it was so uplifting how they relied on prayer and had faith in God to get them through tough times.
I enjoyed learning about this couple and the business they‘ve grown. They were open about mistakes made along the way and things they would do differently. I appreciated their position of gratitude and humility when sharing their successes.
I really enjoyed this book. I am a fan of the show & of Chip and Joanna's relationship. I liked learning more about how they met, fell in love, & built their business. I'm sure lots of details were left out or glossed over, but I appreciated how the Gainses admitted that without the big lucky breaks from investors, they never would have made it. The God stuff -- meh. But, this is a feel-good story tailor-made for fans of the show.
This couple truly has a great partnership. All their actions are full of love and trust. I don't know how it's possible but I love this family more now that I've heard a little bit of their story. Also, the audio is only about 5 hours; short and sweet!
Picked this one up tonight. It will probably sit on my night stand for a while, but it was 50% off and then another 20% on top of that so I couldn‘t pass it up.
