The Watchers, The little snake (🎧brilliant audio read by author)
Superb short stories - A Sliver of Darkness and the tagged. I didn't particularly like Edith Wharton's collection Ghosts as much as I usually like her writing. I DNF but will go back to it.
Loved revisiting Dracula 🖤

This is a collection of short stories for all S&B fans. It‘s completely unrelated to the plot though, since it‘s a bunch of tales from the S&B world that parents would probably tell their kids as bedtime stories.
I love the author‘s creativity and her imagination. Some of them are classic fairytales that we know which she reimagined.

These are some tales set in the Grisha world. They are inspired by myths, folklore and fairytales. I can say that I liked some of them. I liked the author‘s writing style, it kept me motivated to read in a faster pace. But I found some stories where the end was like forced without a meaningful end. This is an unpopular opinion. 3⭐️

If Ninth House was not my book- this was such a refreshing collection from the same author. I‘m obsessed with the Grishaverse, and while these tales weren‘t necessarily related to her other books, there are resemblances and cross overs. I‘m usually not into short stories, but these read more like myths, so they were cool

Call me a sucker for fairy tales, but this book was beautiful! If you like legends and folktales or beautiful illustrations, then this book has it for you! I lucked out and stumbled across a signed copy. Leigh Bardugo has me spellbound for her worlds she dreams up!

Day 7/8: I ended up crossing off my final goal for the readathon, which makes me very happy! I only read for thirty minutes today. Apparently there is a sinus infection going around and either that or the allergies got me.

#MayCharacters Day 6: This collection def has a character who is #mythical. I am addicted to Grishaverse! Just bought this one along with Lives of Saints. Paired with my homemade chocolate chip cookies with macadamia and walnut. Because melovebaking!

I forgot to make my #bookspin list and #bookspinbingo board! I hope it is ok to jump in a bit late. I decided to give myself a push and included some manga for this month.

The children across the regions of Kerch, Ravka, and many more countries grew up collections of fairy tales just like you and me. The only difference is that there isn‘t also a happy end. Set in the world of the Grishaverse, the Language of Thorns takes the readers through a series of tales that make you think back on what you believe a fairy tale should be and see what lessons can be learned from a world of magic.

Got in a lot of audiobooks this month as I clean, sort, and prepare for our next big move in 2021. My favorite read, by far, was Meddling Kids. Language of Thorns was also a fantastic read, loved how Bardugo put her own spin on those stories and fashioned them for the Grisha-verse.

Finally finished this one. Wasn‘t long but it does take a little processing. Also like before I just kept staring at the art. Not necessarily a must read but if you like the GrishaVerse and some very dark fairytale like stories then this is a great option.

A collection of short stories. Defiantly a good book. I would high recommend this one.

Can I just say this book is gorgeous. The dust jacket is just as beautiful too lol. My current read this morning before work. Can we bring back the #7days7covers because I miss seeing beautiful covers like this on my feed lol.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ With illustrations like these, how could I not love this book? The six stories are all beautiful, though I think Little Knife and When the Water Sang Fire are my favorites!

An interesting, easy retelling of fairytales—the Little Mermaid one stuck with me the most. I really enjoyed the illustrations in the margins that gradually developed as the story progressed. #morebookslessbullshit2019

This was a beautifully illustrated book, and the stories were awesome. My favorites were the last two, but the whole book was 5 🌟!

Leigh Bardugo is my favorite YA author. This a collection of short fairy tale inspired stories that she wrote as a Prequel to her Shadow and Bone trilogy. I like the way she went about this prequel, these are old stories told through the lands to the children she created in her world. The Solider Prince was my favorite, she said its inspired by the Velveteen Rabbit but you can also tell the Nutcracker helped inspire it too

5 🌟 #grishaverse

I liked this reimagining of old fairytales so much. The sea witch, the Minotaur, and the stepmother aren‘t the monsters you expect. The heroes aren‘t what you expect. And it‘s all set in the same universe as Bardugo‘s Grisha and Dregs books, which is some Marvel Movie-verse level world building. Also, it has beautiful illustrations.

“I have been sent to bargain with you.”
“The king has nothing I want.”
“Then perhaps you might show mercy freely.”
“My father [the king] never taught me mercy.”
“And can you not learn?”

Onto the next book in my #Grishaverse little readathon and I‘m so excited to dive into this book 🤩😱

I got this book last week! Incredible design! 😍 A beautiful hardcover book with dense pages, each of which is decorated with illustrations that develop with the plot, grow, spread across the page and add up to the big picture!

As beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside ♥️ While I wasn‘t a fan of ALL the stories, (as is to be expected with anthologies), the writing is gorgeous and the stories unexpected. I definitely want to check out the other Grisha books after reading this.

One of the stories is a dark reimagining of “The Nutcracker”. So very lovely!

There are just some books you NEED to get in print and hardcover. Isn‘t this just utterly gorgeous?

This is a 5 star read! The Language of Thorns collects fairy tales from the Grishaverse, subverting expectations of traditional fairy tales, including tales loosely inspired by the Nutcracker & The Little Mermaid. And the illustrations gracing almost every page are worth paying equal attention to-- they grow & morph slowly into a full spread at the end of the stories & are full of gorgeous little surprises. Can't recommend enough for Grisha fans!
