My favorite of the 4 Hunger Games books. I love the camaraderie, I think the depth of characterization is wonderful in the story, and Katniss‘s transformation and owning more of who she is is wonderful

On to the next one because I have an addiction that needs feed.
Am I the only one that binge reads old books??? Like, I know the library has new books, but comfort reads. #comfortreads #comfybeforework
Collin's trilogy depicts her dystopian universe with strong liberal undertones and remains an exemplar of modern America: capitalism and authoritarianism, environmental disaster, wealth disparity, hypocrisy and poverty. This YA series, led by a firebrand of a heroine, finely balances suspense and character/worldbuilding development without ever being tropey. In a month celebrated for a historical protest, Catching Fire is perfect reading material.
This is one of those few sequels that you keep interesting to know more about the world and the characters. The first book ended in a way that you want to continue the story. Not much to say since this is a sequel. This one also ends in a way that you want to grab that third book and devour it. The audiobook is with the same narrator. Lucky me that I started this series when all the books were available i read straight the whole series 4⭐️
this entire reading experience was so insane. first of all, i‘ve said this before but the whole concept of the hunger games is so messed up. the entire book i just wanted katniss to love peeta back. he‘s such a great person. and finnick is so sexy LOLLL!! the cliffhanger is great and i cannot wait for this to become a full blown rebellion. woot woot miss everdeen, you‘re the mockingjay!!!!!
“If I can make it clear that I‘m still defying the Capitol right up to the end, the Capitol will have killed me… but not my spirit. What better way to give hope to the rebels?”
-Katniss, page 293
“I always channel my emotions into my work. That way I don‘t hurt anyone but myself.”
-Cinna, page 246
Just finished The Hunger Games, loved it, now immediately on to Catching Fire. Book 86 on the year for this voracious reader!

Book #2 in the series. Such a twist! Don‘t want to spoil it, but Peeta and Katniss are still having to fight. It‘s hard to know who to trust, who‘s your ally and who‘s your enemy. Fast paced for sure.
Rereading this series with @elisebarker and we are loving it. There‘s so much to talk about and even though it is years old, so many things are still relevant or even more relevant now.

Granted it was a mocking jay & not a white-winged dove as the symbol, but Katniss was on the #EdgeofSeventeen in the first two books of the series.
I
Love
Peeta
I can't believe I waited so long to read these books. This was a great follow-up to the first one. The imagery was phenomenal. I really feel like I was there with everyone. Which is both terrifying and awesome. I can't wait to read the 3rd one!

Katniss and Peeta return to the arena in the sequel to THG. These are such fast reads, fast pacing, lots of emotions! We are introduced to some new characters while watching the relationships between the original ones change. I love that we, as readers, don‘t quite know what‘s going on in the games this time, and we find everything out at the end with Katniss. And of course, are left with a cataclysmic cliffhanger. This was my favorite movie, too!
Episode 236 of my podcast brings you CATCHING FIRE in a way you‘ve never considered, thanks to Heather McGhee, the bestselling author of THE SUM OF US and an expert in public policy and economic inequality. We talk about Panem and the Games through her professional lens… and we cover matters of influencer culture and love triangles while we‘re at it! 🔥🔥🔥 Link to listen in my bio.
Up next on audio! 🎧
This is on my 23 in ‘23 list.

Found the first half of the book kind of boring, but once they got back to the Capitol was when the book got interesting. I really liked the unique design of the new arena and the world building. At first I didn‘t care for the new characters, they were all weird and annoying, but somehow the author got me to care about them, I even cared when some of them died.
LOVE i loved this book. i loved the new characters. I liked the development between katniss and peta.
“I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now and live in it forever”
This is my favorite book of the three. I love the way you start to see Katniss‘s true feelings for Peeta even though she continues to deny them. I also loved the overall idea of the set up of the arena and how they worked together to figure it out and outsmart the game makers.
Published 2009. The second novel in the trilogy by Suzanne Collins. After winning the Hunger Games, Katniss and Peeta begin their victory tour, visiting each of the 12 districts. For this years Quarter Quell, the tributes are picked from the remaining victors. Katniss and Peeta return to the arena on a mission to protect the other. They form alliances with other tributes and navigate the challenges of the games.
Once again I‘m late to the party on this one. 😂 Wow, I am really enjoying this series
Favorite book quote?
"There's always a flaw in the system."
Why? Because it's true and I can't forget it since 8th grade ?
300 Books read! I spent most of my life shrugging away books, just never had an interest. Basically spent all my free time gaming and, well, not reading. I can say I did start feeling the pull towards books for a few years before 2015, like Anakin Skywalker trying to resist the dark side. And like Anakin, I succumbed to the pull on 10/15/15…walking through a store.. I grabbed a book on a whim…and that was it. 7 years, 300 books, ~42/year.

Wow. Reading this felt like a slap in the face.

Catching Fire was an excellent follow-up to
The Hunger Games. The romance, the plot twists, and all the newly introduced characters added up to make an exceptionally intense and keep-you-up-all-night novel. I really don't think I could have asked for a better sequel.
Shelf 10/21, part 2/3 for this shelf 📚
My favorite here is definitely Catching Fire 🔥 🏹

Book 21.
Yet another reread
Do I finish the series and then move on to my tbr or go right into something new
I like this book because it's all believable this all could happen in real life. I dont like reading stuff if it's fake
I really like what I'm reading because it is so easy to relate to, also it is easy to just sit down and read you just open to whatever page your on and jump right back into it
I thought catnis was going to marry Gale but then she was forced by the government to marry Peter. I wish she would have marryd gale in the end but her loved ones would all die
My favorite part of the book so far is when they are in the justice building and there are so much cool details and descriptions
The setting of the book reminds me of my grandparents. Really enjoying how similar this is to my life. I can really connect to feeling the characters are having
My favorite part of the book so far is the description of the big beautiful houses. Also I like how warm and easy her life is after the games
I really like this book because it is very descriptive and its easy to get to know the characters and make connections with them.
I'm about 20 pages in. I was a little bit confused until pages 4-5 I really am enjoying it I dont like haymitch at all
The story continues in a way that was unexpected. I didn‘t know anything going into these books. I am enjoying them and the story of Katniss. Weird turn in this one that pushes the third. This was a good book to read on vacation in Florida this week.
This was a very compelling read, just like the first book, but it was also somewhat disappointing. Lots of deux ex machina and repeated elements from the previous installment. I'm curious to see where the third book takes me.
Also, Team Peeta all the way!
“Poor Finnick. Is this the first time in your life you haven‘t looked pretty?” I say. “It must be. The sensation‘s completely new. How have you managed it all these years?” he asks. “Just avoid mirrors. You‘ll forget about it,” I say. “Not if I keep looking at you,” he says.
I can't stop wondering what is going to happen next in this book. I am absolute loving it.
This book is by far one of the best books I have ever read. It is the perfect sequel to the hunger games and I love how the author manages all her sentences. It has just the right amount of description, perfect and fitting dialogue, and overall a fantastic book. Dystopian fiction is amazing. I would recommend this to loads of people.
Overall Rating 5⭐ | Narration 😍=Amazing
(Re-read on Audio)
This still holds up as one of my all-time favorite dystopian series. It is the series that started my love for this sub-genre of science fiction. The narration was once again top-notch and I highly recommend the special editions of these books with Tatiana Maslany‘s narrating. I‘m looking forward to listening to the final book in the series, soon.
