Another wonderful installment of the Alpha and Omega series. 💕
Blew through dead heat. Let's start this.
Decided to reread this while I was at it. Bran leaves Charles in charge of the pack. Soon after he leaves, outsiders start attacking the pack based on info from a traitor. The race is on to figure out who's betraying them and stop the attackers. A great mix of action, magic, and storytelling.
#BookishBingo: Muslim protagonist (Asil)
As always, a great read from Patricia Briggs. Not the best A&O, but some important character development and backstory. I‘m sure the continuation of this story arc will be very interesting in future books.
On the down side, I felt like Bran‘s absence was forced and the red herring was not really believable, but the twist was good.
I just called my BN (where I used to work) to see if they had received copies of this paperback (scheduled release is tomorrow, for both) and Lake Silence by Anne Bishop. The bookseller asked me to spell the tagged book. He then told me it isn‘t due out until January 29th, so that would be a few more days. 🤦🏻♀️
Patricia Briggs is a wonderfully consistent urban fantasy author, who develops and maintains an interesting cast of characters, and organically stitches folklore and fantasy onto the tapestry of paranormal narratives. A light and enjoyable read, as usual.
Almost finished with this addition to the Alpha and Omega series and as usual, Patricia has kept my attention through the whole book. The action has not even came close to and end yet so I'm thinking the finish of this one will be a cliffhanger. WHY YOU DOING THIS TO US, PATRICIA??😂😂😂❤❤❤
Book #5 in the alpha & omega series. This is the 3rd fantasy author to use the word frisson at least once in their novel. Werewolf rules are complicated so basically the head honcho leaves so his son can figure out who the traitor in their midst is, but he doesn‘t explain this before he goes to make things more complicated
#SickDay for the boys and me today. The good news is, I have tea and a good book!
I spent most of April packing up my apartment and moving (I may own too many physical books - more than 40 boxes). Anyway, the latest Patricia Briggs became available from the library so I take some breaks to read it.
Slower paced than most of her works, this book provided a backstories for several characters and set the stage for a new story arc that has been bubbling up. As always well-written but not a standalone.
Although Mercy is my favorite, I so love a visit with Charles and Anna, and this time we got an adventure in the mountains as trouble comes directly to the Pack‘s doorstep.
Another odd case of #BookSerendipity, or what I‘m calling #Bookendipity, when two books you‘re reading crossover in unexpected ways.
Even when I‘m taking a break from my #YearOfTolkien, Christopher Tolkien still makes an appearance in my reading tonight! 😂
Seriously though, nice choice Patricia Briggs....of course an ancient werewolf and her fae lover would have Tolkien in the house.😉
Another wonderful Alpha and Omega novel. Enough is happening in the larger Mercy world that it might be worth a reread of some of the Mercy books to put it all in context...
My only critique is that the unveiling of the traitor and final showdown seemed to resolve a little quickly.
And such a beautiful cover! It really reflects an episode in the book well.
So great! I love this series, the main couple is so loving and unique. We meet some new characters and there are big reveals for the series. This is definitely a series and NOT a stand alone. I highly recommend you start with the Mercy Thompson series first, as this series is a spin off. #shifterromance #paranormal #glorytotheguild
2. Slightly less
4. Yes we are both generally calm
6. Closer, loving it so far
8. Part of a series
10. More 336
11. I think so
13. Kinda close
14. Just under 10
15. TV show
18. Cover, it‘s so pretty
Bonus: Werewolf couple deals with murder mystery while wrangling crazy werewolves.
There is so much about this book I didn‘t see coming! And they‘re all spoilers, so, can‘t really discuss them... maybe in the comments? Parts of this book dip into fairytale retelling, the stakes are high, there are surprises, we meet new characters and go more in-depth with old friends. Not to mention heartbreak, betrayal, and magical shenanigans! And, as always, Anna and Charles‘ relationship makes my heart happy! 5/5✨ 🐺💕
“You cannot look at a person, and say, ‘If I could change this or that, if I could pick what I want and discard other things, I could love this one.‘ Such a love is pale and weak - and doomed to failure.”
#Truth! Someone needs to put this on a pillow and mass produce it.
Anna and Charles are home without Bran when an old wolf sends a call for help. Who is after their elderly, isolated fellows? Over several skirmishes, the pack starts to understand an enemy who might be in their midst, even while it amassed resources outside. Magic, memories, modern weapons, and betrayal make this latest Omega novel a fast-paced read in a longer arc in the series. Not particularly memorable but entertaining nevertheless.
Another great book from one of my favorite authors. I love how she mixes magic and legends from so many different backgrounds in this novel. And I enjoyed that it went straight into the story instead of lingering on Anna‘s past like many of the books in this series do. 4/5 stars. If you enjoyed any of her other books, you will like this one.
Not my favorite story so far, but still another fun addition to the Alpha & Omega series. Heartbreaking and heartfelt in Patty's usual way. Anna is still growing and finding her way. I love her relationship with Charles and Brother Wolf. The way it plays out opens up some potentially interesting stories in the future. Can't wait for more. #werewolves
The fangirling! Oh, the fangirling! There was awkward gushing with grins that were too big and laughs that were too loud! The squee was real! The only thing better than meeting Patricia Briggs and Anne Bishop was meeting them with friends!
A wonderful addition to the series and thank you to #netgalley to the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I adore this series so much more than the Mercy series. Charles and Anna have wonderful growth and I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys paranormal romance. #arc #marchreleases #greatreads
I loved the relationship that has developed between Charles and Anna, they are a force to be reckoned with. Love how Anna is now thriving and is starting to find herself. The plot was fast paced and the mystery of what was truly happening was blended well. My heart swelled for the wins that took place and my heart mourned for the losses that occurred. ..….See the rest of this review and more at www.thegenreminx.com #TheGenreMinxBookReviews
