As much as I wanted to like this book, I have to bail on it. I think the YA pov is not to my liking anymore.

I'm soooo looking forward to finally reading this book! And this chocolate bar has got to be the biggest and thickest I have ever seen! Thank you @Bookwormjillk I love it! 🥰
I'm so happy I participated this year. This was a lot of fun!

This book was absolutely fantastic! This should be a necessary read for every person on this planet! I feel like I know so much more about the important issues covered in this book and it was a reasonably short and easy read. I would HIGHLY recommend finding and reading this spectacular book!

I was stuck between this book and Stardust for #star, but chose this one because I really liked it and it needs some attention! #ayupaugust

#There‘s a stack of books #UnderneathTheStars and on my shelves. Here are 7 “starry” titles. The 3 on the left are unread on my Kindle & the 4 to the right I have read and enjoyed. The tagged book is a recent YA read & very good, as is “Where the Forest Meets the Stars.” 🌠⭐️✨💫🌟
Well-written YA book that can be tough to read-triggering but also very empowering. Mara's twin brother is accused of raping one of her best friends & she is having a hard time reconciling the brother she loves, tells stories & stargazers with on the roof with his horrible act. There's not a perfect ending in a story like this but it's handled sensitively & realistically & echoes the world we live in. It would be great to discuss with older teens
On the upper patio of the coffeeshop today because there's a nice breeze & it rained earlier & it's a bit drier up here. Avocado toast, cold brew with coconut milk & a couple of chapters of this library YA e-book before I run errands. I had the print copy but wasn't getting to it & it was due back today, but the e-book was available. I often have better luck squeezing books in on my e-reader in little time pockets that come up. Happy Saturday.☀️
4.5 stars
I knew nothing about the author going in to this book yet I know she understands and must have lived through much of what is contained in this book. At times it was hard to read because I just wanted justice for Hannah and Mara and all those who have been violated. But the author keeps it real and doesn‘t shy away from the hard questions or the consequences of actions which, in this case, are life changing.
#SongsOfSummer Day 3: Fats shared her Summer Reading Club reads from her library in Wooster, Ohio, last year - #SummertimeBlues. She is hoping to read more this year. Here is the full list along with her reviews for each of the books. https://wp.me/pDlzr-iIM
“In this must read story about sexual abuse and allegations of rape. Mara learns that nothing is harder than telling the truth and letting your voice be heard.“ --Crossroad Reviews
I finished this one yesterday morning. It was a fantastic read for our high school community book club. Perfect for discussion amongst parents, teachers and teens. It deals with themes of LGBTQ, rape, rape culture, me too movement, sibling and family relationships, and friendship.

Thank you so much for the birthday surprise @dariazeoli ! I have been wanting to read this book after reading all of the Litsy reviews. It was such a wonderful email to receive amidst all of the spam and I am so grateful!
I loved this book. Very timely message. Very powerful story.
An emotional roller coaster that deals with rape and when it hits close to home. Also extremely queer which is always a huge plus.
Hey Littens! I checked out both of these from my library but I can‘t decide which to read first. What do you think? I posted a poll on my instagram stories but it‘s a tie 😂
[#BookReview] Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Herring Blake. I really know how to pick one of the most heartbreaking books as my first of the year. This book was gorgeously written and absolutely soul crushing. I think it‘s such an important book to read, if you can handle triggering topics such as sexual assault. I cannot recommend it enough! ⭐️📚

I‘m trying to read all of the books on Buzzfeed‘s list: “16 Queer Books We Loved in 2018.” https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/kirbybeaton/best-queer-lgbt-ya-books-2018
This one made you think about what would happen if the person you loved most in the world did something horrible. I felt for the main character, I don‘t know if I could believe my twin brother raped my good friend.
Imagine someone who is your tightest bond has committed an unspeakable crime against one of your best friends. Forced to deal with her own deep dark fears and the wave for pain in which her twin brother has created Mara stumbles, falls, and gets back up again to find her own voice in this incredible and extremely relevant tale. A strong message for girls I loved this book. I devoured this book
Definitely a heavy read but one worth picking up.
What would you do if your twin was accused of sexually assaulting one of your best friends. This is what Mara is faced with. Her twin Owen says it didn't happen the way Hannah says it did. Who is telling the truth. Mara is also working through some of her own issues that have yet to come to light. This book was so heartbreaking and I felt all the emotions from all of the characters.
Wow. Just wow. What a range of emotions when things aren‘t that easy.
Amazing! So important and honest and sad but also a little hopeful. 5/5 🌟
Oh my god, this book. I found it on the new display at the library, and I'm so glad I did (think I was the first check-out, too).
Mara's world turns upside down when one of her best friends accuses Mara's twin brother of rape. Their school divides, their family gets "on the same page" about what happened that night, and Mara's past trauma comes back to haunt.
First person, present tense narrative brings the drama to life (continued in comments)
Tonight I used a decoy, so I don't have to fight in order to read before bed. #Ash #Ashhole #CatsOfLitsy
This was recommended by a BookTuber that I just started to watch, and I hope it pulls me out of my mini reading slump! Based on the description alone, it seems a bit like the YA version of The Best Kind of People by Zoe Whittall, as it‘s about two teenage twins, Mara and Owen, and the fallout that occurs when Owen is accused of rape.
🌟🌟🌟🌟
This book is intense and will make you cry! It‘s so worth it though. Blake takes on the rape culture and she does a good job. There‘s a lot of things going on that it sometimes can lose focus on the main plot. Overall, great read!

Oh this book broke all my hearts and inside pieces. This book is so good and so sad and just so much and I loved it. I loved Mara and I felt her struggle, I hurt for Hannah and Charlie is just the best friend. I originally said I didn‘t want a book with sexual violence because it‘s something I‘m not good with but I‘m so glad I picked this one up. Watching to girls struggle and overcome just lets me know I‘m not alone and it‘s okay to hurt. ♥️
#TBRTemptation post!
*Bitch* magazine just shared this one on Instagram and it sounds so good! Two twins torn apart when one's best friend accuses the other of raping her... I'm sure this will be a gripping and important read!
I can not wait for Ashley Herring Blake's GIRL MADE OF STARS!!
#ya #girlmadeofstars #ashleyherringblake
This book was heart rending. It takes a different look at what happens to a girl when a crime is committed in her community and the accused is close to her. Is it worse for her if she believes him innocent or if she believes him guilty? I love the diversity of the book and I think this is an important story.
Wow. What a gut-punch of a book. This is exactly the story we need at this moment and I hope you all pre-order, request from the library etc.
What do you do when someone you love is accused of rape? How can your feelings about them NOT change?
This book, you guys, THIS BOOK. 💔 So important.
I've made a short list of some books I want to read during 2018 - do you see any that you've read?
So I actually managed to come away from #Wordstock this Sat with LESS books than I got signed (I was VERY restrained...we also ran out of time and energy to spend too long in #Powells). The bottom 2 are signed by authors there, April Henry and Amber Keyser, and check it out, I got one of those ARCs USED in the store; it hasn‘t been released yet! Next time, me and @Acgamble88 must do the whole day in #Powells. Anyone else for a #Portland roadtrip?
